Thanks all for the recap. Wish I could have stayed longer.
It was nice meeting you cliff. I think I met quite a few new ppl this year... Thanks to all you new guys who showed up! You know who you are!
And thanks to JazzMan for helping me troubleshoot my TCC problem. I think I have narrowed it down to either a bad seal on the solenoid or just a bad (new) solenoid all together.

That plate is also fitting if you have a coil go bad...seeing as how no one said what your problem turned out being, I'm taking a wild stab in the dark...
Hey... not ready for this thread to go down yet.
Yes... After belittling 3800SC's for most of the trip down to SA, I popped a coil in the Wally World parking lot. We discovered it was the coil after I swapped in a different ignition module and the car still wouldn't start. Fortuantely, I always carry spares of both. Ironically, the coil is from revin's old 2.8!
Here is where th story gets frustrating.
The backup ignition module that I did not need to install at Wally World was my ORIGINAL 1988 module (about 89,000 miles). Coming home on Sunday, my car loses power above 45 mph, and starts backfiring like four 12ga shotguns are belching from the tips. Our little convoy pulls over and I was asked... "what on earth would cause you car to do THAT?"
I replied, "If the symptoms are crazy, and you don't know what the problem is... Replace the ignition module." So I put the module in from when I started the trip, and took the original out. Problem solved. Stupid ignition modules.
So I had double trouble this trip. Coil & module. That is still better that the 3800SC (MustangBware) car. He had ICM, Battery, and Alternator repair... though to his credit... 1) revins car ate/destroyed/obliterated MustangsBware's ICM in a failed experiment, so not his fault. 2) battery was good that we replaced, but it was cheaper than an alternator, so we tried it first
Lastly, got a new coil from Summit. MSD Blaster for $45.00... revin is now a backup again. called the Chevy house for a new module. $78.00! yuk. Went on line to GMpartsdirect.com. $38.00. Much better. Will be here tomo!

I know this isn't tech...but how about a step by step tutorial on coil and ignition module. I have seen you do the module, but I'm not sure about the coil. I think I still have Revin's ignition module in my car. It's running fine.

The coil is really easy. The stock coil is riveted to the bracket, you drill out the rivets and use the bolts and nuts supplied with the new coil. Basically you use a 13mm to remove the two self-tappers that hold the coil and bracket onto the bigger bracket, unplug the connectors, and remove. It's really that simple.
I hate for these gatherings to end. Such great folks all. But end they do, till next year, which by all accounts promises to be a heck of an event, even by Texas standards.
