"...I think I have made it quite clear that grammaticaly, I am an idiot."

Ah, Boondawg, finally, something upon which we both agree!

Ill get in on this. I dont mind what anyone posts, Im not obligated to read it and I prob dont read but 1 out of 5 threads or less.. The grammer dont bother me at all if it gets the point across. You can spell however you want as long as i can figure it out. We dont get graded or tested on this Personally, I use another site to post pictures and it dont have any restriction as to the number you use, only the size of the picture.

Things I dont like are people that continue to 'quote' with photos over and over in the same thread, people who dont know what their talking about, signatures used with every single post, name calling when you dont agree with someone and thread titles that dont say what its about or totally misleading.

Hmm..Mis-Tess007 (a.k.a post whore for those who don't like her threads) is doing the write-up on a movie involving JScott's 2-proud Fiero. I'm sure we all want details with pics, right? You never should bad mouth anyone on the forum. You may have to eat your words?

I'm not much one to stick my nose in where it doesn't belong...

BUT...
Some of us can manage to have decent vocabulary and grammar skills without a full 11 years of formal education (who'da thunk it?)...

AND...
I'm going to agree with the noted annoyances with a certain members lengthy, often redundant posts and the particular style which this person has chosen to promote themself. Themself, not their car. Guess what, I'm a female too. I have a 88 coupe too. Mine gets worked on too, often times by myself (and eww, no gloves even). Ooh, the similaries... But do I feel that my being female makes me a more interesting Fiero owner? No. Does the fact that some people may possibly find me attractive make doing an oil change more worth reading? No. Did I feel the need to make sure everyone knows how 'hot' I am long before ever showing them my car? No. Why would I? Does the man with one arm demand attention and admiration for changing a spark plug with only one arm? Does the deaf man beg your notice that he knew he needed new brake pads without hearing the squeal? Of course not, I for one would prefer my gender not be considered a handicap, and simply be prasied unbiasedly for the creation that my car has become.

That said, please do inform me if this has become the Fiero Owner's Personals Forum and I will apologetically retract those comments and congratulate you on your successful campaign. And I'll throw in some pictures of me vacuuming out my engine.

-Amber

This is really getting pretty ridiculous.

If you don't like a thread,..simply don't read it !!!

End of story. Continuing to whine about someone else's posts that you allegedly don't read almost makes you seem ,.....jealous ?

If you hate it and don't read it, why are you able to go into such detail that is probably 3 pages deep into the thread ??

Some folks just need get a grip and worry about postive things instead of trying to stir up the negative.

Last thing I want to do is bump a thread that should be allowed to fade away, but I just found out about this thread and there is something I have to say.

To all of you that think "The Hottie Diaries" were too long, or had too many pictures, or used up too much bandwidth, well you got your wish. You have succeeded in breaking the spirit of a very nice young lady who wanted nothing more than to share her love of Fieros with a forum that is dedicated to the sharing of love for Fieros.

So what was her crime? Too many pictures? This forum loves pictures, all you ever hear is "post pictures" and I have never heard Cliff complain about people posting too many pictures of Fieros.

Too much bandwidth from all the writing? Well if you have trouble downloading a page of text, I'm sorry that you never upgraded from a 300 baud modem.

Sharing too much detail? How many times have you done a search in tech and found someone with your exact problem but the solution is not posted? It is so much better if you see the problem and the solution in one thread.

All that has happened is that someone who took a little white coupe that had been neglected for over 10 years and probably would have never moved again under it's own power and restored it to the point that it was able to PROUDLY escort me into downtown New Orleans.

But you wouldn't know that because the "Hottie Diaries" last post leaves you with the impression that the car won't start. In other words no more updates. No more pictures. No more words. Are you happy????

It makes me very sad to see the enthusiasm and love for this little car that Miss Tress had wiped out by a few naysayers that are worried about bandwidth that they aren't even paying for. And who among the complainers have contributed money to Cliff? I know I have.

Just remember before you post something negative that these are not computer generated screen names, these are real people, with real families and real feelings.

Have a nice day

I hate asking questions in the tech section, and getting back answers that I know are wrong. Im doing an engine swap, and I ask questions and some people who have never swapped an engine telling me "what they think"...... I don't want what they think, I need the "NO $*IT" Answer.

And most everything everyone else listed, except the spelling. I suck at spelling.

Doesn't it seem that since we are all real people behind these screen names that we should act here to each other the way we would if we were face to face? Anyone who portrays themselves differently, or in a different light, than they would want to been seen if on the street is deserving of that being noted.
For instance (and hopefully it's a non-offensive instance), would we use incorrect grammar in our regular speech? Yes, and other people might make note of that, or even comment on it to our face. This stretches to everything we say or do here, if we wouldn't tell others about things we think they wouldn't care enough to bother hearing, or if we wouldn't point out things on our cars that no ones cares to see, why would we post them here?
And if you don't regulate your postings in this manner then maybe the consequences are deserved, since in person the reaction wouldn't be any different...

Just my crazy take on all the various annoyances.

Interesting point Amber. I guess we can all sit around Taco Cabana at next year's Roundup criticizing each other's speech variances, but to be honest, I don't remember any of us exactly being eloquent speakers last month-nor do I remember any communication/understanding problems either. Guess I best take notes next time around since some of us are obviously lacking in our usage of the English medium.
Much ado about nothing IMO. Perhaps you and JohnF will be kind enough to give us poor downtrodden and less educated the benefit of yall's vastly superior skills? Wait tho-that wasn't what John said we were was it? Stupid. Yeah, that's it. Not ignorant, or uneducated--stupid. That's nice to know.
Ooops-I typed "yall's". Shame on me.
I think we'll just skip the next one if this is what owning & liking Fieros has come to.

People who don't know what the EDIT button is for.
- to fix mistakes/add information to your post
- to edit a 1/2 page quote to the sentence you are responding to

Sigs that list 1/2 page of modifications and "Future Mods" in the sig,
If you have a lot of mods, or lots of dreams, make a webpage on CarDomain.com and link to it.

Do people REALLY do that?!

Someone says to me, "Milk seeking am I fine this day. Help can you me?".
If I can not understand what they are trying to convay to me, I say "Pardon me?".
If I deduce that this person is looking for milk, I say "Yes, I can." or "No, I can't".
I NEVER say "The proper way to say that is, I am seeking milk, this fine day. Can you help me?"!

I guess the question should be this:
Should person 1, correct or point out the errors in the way person 2 speaks, without being asked by person 2, to do so?

Hmmmmmmm.

See, and there is where I think I took exception.
If he would have said LAZY, I would have had to agree.

Becouse with the resources available through the computer, "lazy" and "time constraints" are really the only reasons why everything you type couldn't be perfect, if that's what you desired.

I feel that THAT kind of perfection is not important to the ideas or opinions I'm trying to convey.
If you reject a person becouse of the way they speak, you may miss out on a great person!
I'm not sure just HOW I would react if a person corrected my speech during a conversation.
It's never happened.
Maybe becouse I live in Alaska.
We may be MORE concerned with what a person does, not what they say or how they say it.
We're silly like that.

That, and most of us carry sidearms.
Makes for a respectful, polite, conversation.
"I be bout' ta blow ya' brains owt' da' backside yo' head!"

i DEFINATELY disagree with the "every nut+bolt you remove" being bad that was said (page 1 i think?)...
my thread i took MANY pictures, (i will admit some were pointless..) but there are tons of times when i search here looking for a picture of something so small or stupid , that no one would think to post it... what is obvious to some, may be unknown to me (and others..)
just the other day i had no clue what syncromesh looked like and couldnt find it anywhere (also called) so finally i searched and searched, and low and behold, someone took a pic of their bottle! (of which i now did the same.) i take tons of dismantling pics for reference also, and that may help those without a digital cam to see where that stupid bolt goes.... (also this coincides with defense of miss_tress007)
hope i dont get any -'s for my opinion, i honestly tried not to be rude about it!

you dont have to be an english major to know it's "y'all's", not "yall's". dang, i thought you knew better. texans, sheesh.

as for the rest of the thread, lighten up.
my only problem with mistress's threads is that they're picture heavy and i'm on dialup. i think some people are simply jealous of the attention she gets. that's not her problem, it's theirs.
typos, grammatical errors and poor spelling are an irritant, but no one is perfect and the important question is whether the writer can get their point across.

what irritates me is when people dump on each other without good reason. i can see it if someone is a racist or rip-off, or telling outright lies, but there's very little of that here. really, if you don't like mistress's (or anyone's) threads, scroll on by, don't read them.

I tried to keep my thoughts on the matter aside but what the hell, this seems fairly open.

Annoyances:

1. 95% of the fiero population is too poor to even pay attention... the penny pincher comment sums it up.

2. People that ***** and moan about for sale threads listing "make an offer items".
- I'm fairly new to fieros IMO (only been in the game for 2 years, most of which the car spent in storage) so I don't know what parts are worth to people (more then just what they normally go for on eBay). I list a lot of my parts, if not all, as "make offer" but I always show pictures of the item, and yet some people are still too stupid to say a price. If I knew what they were worth don't you think I would list a final price? These are the same people that argue with me about what I want for the item and when I finally say a price they say I'm asking too high and then lose interest in it.

3. People whining about no aftermarket bodywork and when someone finally asks for ideas of stuff to make, no one shows interest. Then if someone finally gets an idea of what to make and starts building it, the same people come back and ***** and moan that "that's stupid looking" or "not how they think it should be done."

4. The general feel good crap. Face it, with 11,000 members there's going to be some toes stepped on. It gets old listening to "well he/she said this about my car and WAAHHHH” I’m willing to bet that anyone who complains like that came from a private school. In public, **** goes down... you face it or tuck your tail between your legs and run; no one is there to hold your hand. In the real world, very few give a **** about someone else’s feelings, suck it up and deal with it.

5. Opinions are like assholes, everyone has one and they all stink. If you can't handle the negative opinions, then don't ask for any.

6. The leg humpers are getting annoying as hell. As a guy, I can relate to some degree... but some of you are just plain desperate. It's so sad it's utterly pathetic.

7. Do you really think that the people that misspell/misuse words and don't take the time to check it, really gives a **** about it? Nope, they don't. It's their choice if they want to be perceived as an uneducated jackass, and it's not your place to correct them.

Amber? No flame intended, but if someone felt so "high and mighty" as to correct my grammar to my face in public, the only thing they should be worried about is when to duck.

Edited to add... If you don't like my grammar, tone, or use of profanity....it doesnt bother me one bit.

Tress007, don't let a few people with a negative opinion bring you down, they don't speak for the whole community. With members from all around, these forums are going to have very diverse opinions at times.

You are right Boondawg. This is something you would say on the side, and then only to someone you cared about if you thought they cared.
Sort of like seeing an 88GT needing paint and tires, that had a bad muffler. It is still good.

What gets under my skin is that people don't seem to understand the internet is not a broadcast medium, but a narrowcast medium. This means that you are never forced to read/view anything and you have full control over what you do read and view and when you read and view it.

- I'm starting to hate that supermarket around the corner more and more every day.
- Why?
- Look what I bought.
- Cheerios?
- Yes, you know how I hate Cheerios.
- Then why did you buy it?
- It was right next to the Cornflakes, and I love Cornflakes.
- Why did you buy it?
- I hate the fact they look like small donuts, and I don't like donuts either.
- Still, why did you buy it then?
- And they are expensive too. I can get generic cornflakes for half that price.
- Tell me why you bought it then?
- I'm thinking of never going to that supermarket again. I could have bought some Cornflakes and milk if it weren't for the Cheerios.
- You still haven't told me why you bought the Cheerios if you dislike them so much.
- Tomorrow, I'm going to tell everyone in the supermarket to stay away from the Cheerios.
- What are you doing?
- OMG, I forgot how aweful they taste!
- Why are you eating them?!
- Quick! Get me a glass of water or I won't be able to get the rest of them down! These things are horrible!
- Stop eating them then!
- I feel sick! This is definitely the last time I'll go to that supermarket! Damn those Cheerios!
- Feel better?
- Guess what else I bought. Cheese. You know how much I hate cheese.
- *Sigh*

I told myself I was not going to add anything to this post. I feel it’s just asking to be shot in the head but “no guts no glory,” I guess.
First the spelling and grammar, I type my posts in word first then cut and paste, it is not perfect but it does help.
It is very simple…each one of us wants to have a Fiero that everyone else looks at and says, “that is the best car ever” and we want to be able to say, “I did it myself” Look, there are over 11,000 members of this forum, many with several cars, your looking at upwards of 20,000 Fieros and each of us wants the best. It’s not going to happen. When I joined this forum I thought I had the nicest Indy here, I saw Paced84’s car and that went out the window. Get over it people. We are a dieing breed, Fiero lovers. I have talked to people that won’t even walk outside an auto parts store to see my Indy, they just hate Fieros.
As far as the diary threads, I’ve read some I’ve liked and some I’ve found kind of dull (among many other threads). But I have discovered this button on the upper left of my screen that says back, click and I move on. Am I impressed that one of our female members can change her own breaks? Not overly. But if she keeps building her automotive skills and does a V-8 swap I’ll send her a dozen roses, because I will never be able to do one.
My mother once told me that “if you can’t say something nice, don’t say anything at all”. Maybe we should try to remember what mommy tried to teach us.
Just my 2 cents.

7. Do you really think that the people that misspell/misuse words and don't take the time to check it, really gives a **** about it? Nope, they don't. It's their choice if they want to be perceived as an uneducated jackass, and it's not your place to correct them.

Have to agree:

on #2, I have asked for offers mainly becuase I want to get rid of the part and will take any respectable offer that comes my way?

...and on spelling, has it occurred to anyone that not every country spells words the same way as the US? Example: in the Canadian Dictionary, color is spelled colour. Grammar also falls into this category, didn't countries also use different terminology to say the same thing - so is it 'really' incorrect?

...also, if you don't like the thread, don't read it - simple as that, no one is forcing you...

The only thing that bugs me is threads like this that envoke conflict

First, I've got to state that I have no problem whatsoever with the "diaries".
I think it's actually a good thing, especially for someone who is learning. Maybe she posted a lot of pics. So? If you don't want to look at all the pics, scroll down. (I truly didn't even notice the gas station pics, because I did *just that*.)
By seeing pics, those of us who cared enough to give advice on something that "just didn't look right" were able to. Maybe someone was able to save this lady some grief, further down the road.
Isn't that what this Forum is supposed to be about?
To those who have issues with the diary threads, it's very easy to recognize the subject header as one of Tress's posts (even if you can't cut your eyes to the right to see who authored it.) Just don't click on it! Which is true of anything you don't want to read. And if you find yourself in a thread that you wish you hadn't, it's as simple as clicking "back".

To the topic at hand. What annoys me is...
People who give technical advice who have no clue what they're talking about.
People who go out of their way to be posterior orifices.
Whiners.

And threads started for the sole purpose of bringing out the absolute worst in people. Like this one. Every time I see a thread like this, I know it's going to piss somebody off. I've seen it happen for years. And not just on this Forum.

And I like Cheerios.

Ohioindy. Thanks for the complement. Do appreciate. Nice Indys are becoming scarce. Indys that are in bad shape should be restored if possible. If they are trash we must save what we can. I am in the process of buying an Indy that is trash, but will save every thing possible. Only problem is guy thinks it is a gold mine. It's more like bronze at best, no hope to be restored.
It may not look bad in photo. Believe me it is trashed. It has been in this driveway for 9-10 years
Have a great Fiero day

There IS this other person who calls themselves USFiero1. I've been using USFiero since before PFF on other mailing lists! And I registered first...

Actually Miss-tress has added more interest to the forum because of the whole clever 'you can't see me' thing. The internet is biased towards visual people and learning the basics through her posts will preserve remaining Fieros against stupid mistakes... how many threads talk about the local garage lifting a Fiero by the coolant tubes? Unrealistic shop prices? The saying "Buy a Fiero, become a Mechanic" should be the mantra of any Fiero club! I'm suprised Craftsman hasn't become a PFF sponsor! Oh, and the tease is up a notch in case you missed this pic of Miss-tress' torso... and a nice torso it is... should we encourage her to hit the tanning bed some more?

Pretty racy stuff, huh? You'd have to give her credit for causing more activity since Phil (GTdude) passed away after burning all those Fieros up.

I guess the question should be this:
Should person 1, correct or point out the errors in the way person 2 speaks, without being asked by person 2, to do so?

Hmmmmmmm.

yeah try correcting someones grammar in a bar and count the seconds before you get knocked out.

on the net it may seem that I have bad grammar and horrible spelling - and well yes my spelling is not the best but I don't care - people know exactly what was intended - the majority of mistakes are actually just typographical..

Nebiros.. as for whiners being from private school? I don't know what thats about - I went to both public and private schools and other than the consequences for acting up being more swift and severe life was basicly the same.. the whiners where always the ones with parents that spoiled them and they didn't know how to deal with not getting their way with everything.

but to really stay on topic.. things that annoy me pretty much can be wrapped up with a word of behavior - selfishness
pretty much all bad behavior stems from that.

Due to the nearing of winter hibernation, some men were a little to eager in seeing Miss-tess007 and it got very wayward. So she opt'd out in posting her face. Here is a example of how "men's imagination gone wild."

What about all the people that hover over Skitimes thread... or holy F'in crap Bubba's thread... are those leg humpers... look at all the pictures... what about Fie Ro's interior thread or any F-body interior thread. Too many pics? Too long? I have never heard anyone whine about those... why should Tress be any different??

And Nebrios... you were leg humping the hell out of loyde when he did your Fiero... so let it go.
