I tried an experiment a few days ago. I swapped decklids on my coupe.
Which do you think looks better?
Before?
Or after?
Regardless, it sure is different. And I'll have to get used to being blinded by tailgaters again, if I leave it off. The positive side of it is that it definitely enhances the "sleeper" factor.

personally, I like it better without the whaletail. I just think that it flows a little bit nicer, though both look good. Nice looking paint job by the way. It reminds me to wash my car

Don't be fooled. My paint is well on its way to being fried. The car was filthy, too. I drove through about 70 miles of misting rain before I got there. Through a construction zone, even.
Sonic50 just takes good pics.

It's the IRM (now Fiero Warehouse) IMSA spoiler. Was designed specifically for the notchie Fiero racecar. Mine's just a street version.

I had visions of somethign else in this post, but I reminded myself that it was in GFC, not T/OT I think it's a draw also. I'm a big fan of the whaletail spoiler, but I'm an equally bigger fan of the clean decklid.
Of course, my car has neither One of these days I'll rectify that I guess.

I think the bare decklid looks better (cleaner lines). But I bet the wrap-around spoiler provides more function (better aerodynamics). And I personally value function over form. So you can guess my vote.
That said, you should do whatever pleases you the most. Your own opinion is the only one that really counts.
Personally I don't like the whaletail that much (I'd never put one on any car of mine), but Raydar the whaletail is just...you. Without it you'd just be some other notchie owner. I think its very unique, and its grown on me.

I think that your car is more aggressive & distinguished with the spoiler - it's easily recognizable as your car. Without it, I honestly wouldn't recognize your car from the next red notchie at a quick glance. I'd say keep it
No no, no! I agree with the idea of keeping your identitiy unique. Not all Notchies have the IMSA spoiler. Therefore keep it on the car. You can always buy another naked deck and swap them back around if you get the 'au natural' bent.

I'll probably end up putting it back on, after a while. It needs to be repainted before I do, though. The paint is chipping badly and doesn't really match the rest of the car, anyway. Until then I'm gonna leave it off, and go out and troll for some unsuspecting Mustangs. I might even be able to surprise a good number of them. Right now, it just looks like a base Fiero with rims, if they're not paying attention to the exhaust tips.
Thanks for all the comments.
