Is anyone in the East, West, South, or North Bay interested in getting together somewhere about 11:00 or 11:30 to drive to Truckee on Friday the 24th? Karl and Kristine and I will be leaving from Fremont and we can decide where to meet and when if anyone else would like to join us. Only 15 days now!!

I'm going up Friday. I'll be comming from San Bruno and going across the Bay Bridge. How about meeting me at the Mc Donalds parking lot in Pinole at the Fitzgerald off ramp on Hwy 80. I don't remember if it was Mc Donalds or In & Out, but we've met there before.
If you guys come up with something definate I may be able to hook up with you.Trip is starting on thursday for me.Were gonna be somewhere on the coast friday morning.Probably in sleeping bags cuddled up in between some sea lions cause I just looked around at hotel pricing on the coast and it aint pretty. It is times like these you wish the seats in a fiero reclined all the way back.Well other times too but we dont need details of that.

Sounds like we have the makings of a plan! We'll see who else we hear from, try to get ahold of those who don't read the Forum regularly, and finalize Tuesday night after the meeting. The South can join the Middle, the South/Middle can meet the West in the North (Pinole) or the East (Orinda), and we'll be off by about 12:30 or 1:00 at the latest and can hopefully be in Truckee around 4:00.
14 days 'til WestFest!!! Yahooooo!

Okay, so we've got Kitskaboodle, Whuffo, Silvermist, and myself for sure from the Forum and Karl and Kristine and Harry off the Forum (5 Fieros, 1 other).
Brian's not sure yet and foolishmouse may be joining us via San Simeon.
You still a possible, RealFiero?
If anyone else is interested just let us know. We'll keep trying to check w/people not on the Forum and should have our list pretty well finalized by the end of the meeting next week.
11 days 'til margarita time!!

Okay, that's great! I'm just responding to a note from Marty Wilbert who has to work the day in San Carlos and will be leaving from his house in San Ramon afterward, so I told him if for some reason you couldn't join us earlier, maybe the two of you could hook up, so I'll try to do that too if I hear of anyone else on a later schedule. We'll look forward to getting together with you if you can leave with us!

You should see my outfit for this time around! However, I wonder how many children will be there! It may not be appropriate for little children! This time, we are the french spainiard margaritta maid, who is coming out of the closet! I'll leave you all hanging there!

I live in San Jose (by the arena) and will be driving up Friday morning. I might like to caravan, but what route is being planned on going up? I always like to drive up Hwy 88. I believe most will drive up Hwy 50 or 80.
The route I was planning on was 280 to 580. Stop in Tracy (Union Point) for 1-2hrs of bass fishing, then Hwy 580 to Hwy 5 to Hwy 88. Maybe a meeting point in Tracy or Stockton to link up at approx noon? Let me know. Hwy 88 hits Hwy 89 and a nice drive up the west side of Lake Tahoe.
I'll keep checking the board for updates and maybe alter my plan to make the caravan.

You are such a pal, Goobz!! Ha! Foolishmouse is so lucky to have such a good fiero friend! Can't wait to see your outfit for sure! This might be be a family forum (yeah, right--I'm starting to feel ignored because this thread hasn't turned into a raging, flaming gross-out yet! gees!), but all bets are off for happy hour!
Nine days left.......!!!
(Was hoping to insert the sunny forecast showing 71 degrees for Truckee on 6/24, but am not as tech saavy as I thought I was once again! Trust me--we're glad this is not scheduled for THIS weekend, as it will be quite a different story! )

Larry--88 is a great drive, but we won't have time if we want to get up there by 3:30 or 4:00. We have people coming from almost all directions, so I'm thinking we'll probably meet at the hamburger joint in Pinole where we have for several other drives and am hoping we can do so by 12:30 or 12:45 and get on the road by 1:00. There's an Arco just a half a block off 80 at Madison Ave. in East Sac. that is really convenient on and off and has the lowest prices between here and there. It's approx. halfway to Reno, so a little more than halfway to Truckee, but maybe, if we can't make it to Truckee and around the Lake and back on that tank, at least it will help having to buy so much more expensive gas in that area. We could come back 50 on Sunday for something different if anyone wants, but again, depending on when we give up, there probably won't be time to spend going back a longer way. And remember the parking lot that will await us whenever we get back to the Bay.
Sounds like you have a great idea to drown a few worms on the way and take the scenic route! Are you bringing the portable grill also and can we look forward to Delta sturgeon with our margaritas, or what??!!! If you want to join the 7 or 8 of us on the efficiency run, either coming or going, just let us know. Maybe you can scope out and put together a drive for us out in there one of these days!

Thanks for pointing out that Arco in E Sac; I don't know about you, but I can't go 230 miles on a tank of gas. Gotta stop and get some half way there.
Only 8 more days to go...
You can't get 230 miles on a tank of gas? You should check with WCF about doing the same conversion they did for me. I get about 480 miles to a tank of fuel, and that's doing 90 with the A/C full blast in the middle of the summer on the freeway. I will look for pix of the vehicle before and after and post them here later!

The bigger tank wasn't until '87 - and those capacities are from bone-dry to full; you'll run out of gas long before you use 10 gallons from the early model tank. I think that the maximum useable fuel in a 10 gallon Fiero tank is 8.9 gallons...

Dang, Michael--8.9 gal. available out of 10, huh??!!! Will that get you and Kit from your place to NE Sac? If not there's an Arco in the shopping center on Fremont Blvd. on the way to my house where you could top off before we head out again. Only 4 days left!!! Unless we get some additional input at the meeting tomorrow night convincing us otherwise, here's the coordinates we're talking about so far--
Okay, Fastback--thanks for the message. I'd say I hope foolishmouse is behaving hisself, but that would only create suspicion, so I hope he's having fun anyway. Heck (family forum, you know!), he'll probably catch up and beat us there! Also, we'll miss you there for sure! Wah-wah again!
RealFiero--Look forward to you joining us! If for some reason you know of ahead of time that you can't leave until later, I know for sure of one from San Ramon leaving around 6 or 7:00, may learn of others at the meeting tonight, so you could still hook up w/someone if that happens.
3 days until margarita time!!!

The magarita machine has been confirmed. We will be supplied by THREE TIMES the mix we had at San Simeon. We'll have to charge for each margarita (I think it will be a buck), 'cause it cost us a fortune last year! You guys drink a lot!

You should know; your car has the same tank. Since the gas guage in my SE is currently pointing in whatever direction it feels like, I just keep an eye on the trip odometer. I like to stop for gas at about 120 miles and can go 150 on a tank - maybe more.
Since it's only about 230 miles to the hotel we should only need one stop along the way...

A good place is Auburn. I think it's the Foresthill exit. Go over the freeway to the Beacon Station on the right. $2.27 for regular, lowest price I saw. That way, you have a full tank for any driving around Truckee. FORGET getting gas up here. I didn't catch any prices, but it's normally close to $3/gallon.

Hi folks, Mr. Newbie here! (Marty Wibert). I'm the guy in San Ramon that JC mentioned and I'm looking for anyone that wants to hook up around 4:45ish on Friday for the drive to Truckee. I'll be leaving work in San Carlos via my Saturn at around 3:00. I plan to stop and grab some grub in San Ramon then stop off at the house to trade the Saturn in on a Fiero. I'll have my ears on when I start out for Truckee.

I figured gas would be expensive in Truckee! Ouch! Was that premium or regular? Not as much as San Juan Bautista! That was my splurge for this year I hope! And I think that little place out there on the Coast Run still holds the record tho! How many miles is the drive around the lake? Will we need to fill up before we leave there? I think we filled up at South Lake 3 yrs. ago and some of us came back 50, but I don't know if it's any cheaper down there.
As far as the way up, I'd like to stick with the Arco at Madison Ave. between Watt and Greenback. It's easy off and back on and usually at least 8-10 cents cheaper than here. And they have decent coffee with those little flavored creamers, you know?!! Yummm!
