Well.. I took the carpet out of my truck today. It was surprisingly easy to do. Just removed the 5 plastic push pins and the carpet came right out. Overall the truck looked very good with the exception of 2 rust spots about 3 to 4 inches in size . I broke all the loose rust out and used a wire brush to clean up the rest. I then used rustolium primer black and sprayed it in there good as well as the entire trunk. Then filled the small holes with bondo / re-primed and then sprayed the whole truck with black flat rustolium (I don't know how to spell it).
I then sprayed the rug with grease lightning cleaner and power washed it. It came out GREAT. With the exception of 1 or 2 small spots I couldn't get out the rug looks new. After I hung the rug to dry I sprayed it with fabreeze. Went to home depot and bought replacement carpet pad (the "Felt" kind not the rubbery kind) And will re-place the old pad with the new pad (the old pad smelled bad).

Here are the pictures. I'm sorry I didn't get before pictures . I put some extra carpet padding inside the truck. The only place the factory put it was on the wall that faced the engine. I didn't put any on the floor of the trunk as there are 2 drain holes there and it is ment to let any water drain out that might enter the trunk. By putting padding there the water would be absorbed and take forever to dry.

Trunk after the rust was fixed and painted the entire trunk

The two rust spots I bondoed

Made a patteren from news paper to trace the contour of the trunk to the carpet padding

All padding in place

I've pressure washed more carpets than I can count! It's AMAZING (and in some cases beyond disgusting!) what will come out of them... BLEAAHH!!!! Did one in a guys otherwise imacculate car (no names will be mentioned to protect the guilty!), and this putrid slimy pinkish crud oozed out of it that looked and reeked of vomit (anyone eating breakfast right now?? ).

He swore nobody had ever yacked in his trunk, but....

I've pulled greek salad dressing, motor oil... you name it....

I usually wait for a nice hot day to do it, then hang it on the side of my truck cab (nice and tall) in the sun - it'll dry in a few hours.
