88 rotors are the same all the way around.. The difference is in the front hub. The Cav rotors are not big enough on the inside to keep from rubbing... You have to have them machined.

Has anyone done anything with the hood vents off a '95 Camaro? I grabbed a couple from a write off at the yard for $10cdn. They looked interesting at the time but, they seem a little big and they have a contour that would have to be matched on the hood somehow. Just curious if anyone's played around with these and what they did?

Songman, I don't have close ups of the vent itself but here they are on the Camaro.

If anyone has used these I would love to see what they did. As you can see the hood is shaped to flow into the vent which is a bit of a problem.

I remember some conversation about using the Chevy Astro Van front sway bar on the Fiero front end but never heard it confirmed. The Astro van sway bar is supposed to be 1 inch diameter.

The big block Chevy oil pumps bolt in.

They carry higher volume, not higher pressure to give your heads lots of oil at high rpms, therefore cooler running.

Trans am vents are not the same as Sunbird vents, they are opposite of each other.

88 rotors are the same all the way around.

VW and Audi rims, yes some fit.

Shift boot from a Ford Festiva...just required a little trimming around the bottom lip to allow the ashtray doors to open all the way.

I didn't use the Camaro vents, I used the Trans am fake heat extractors. after I made them functional and modified. Also, I took an 82 trans am rear wing, flipped it upside down and mounted it under the rear bumper of my 85 Fiero GT. Now it is a rear valance, just need to add some grill work to finish it. I will not do this again, to many mods to make it look right.

what about wheels and brakes fron subarus???? they're 5x100. and don't bust on festivas, i have one and it just won't die!! and it has over 230K on it!! It's my beater till i get the fiero back on the road. and to top it off, once i mod the engine a bit, it'll keep up w/ any stock 2.8 and get 50 MPG

Just remember that subaru uses a center bore that is 1mm smaller, so you will have to do some machining to get wheels to work.

goofin's fine. I have subaru wheels on my fiero and love them, but nobody ever told me I would have to modify them. Just wanted everyone to have a heads up on it. I just used my die-grinder to open them up. Also, the subaru wheels have more offset to them. This is good for 88's (where the front needs more offset) and for anybody wanting to go to wider wheels and still keep them under the fenders. There is also a much larger aftermarket for subaru wheels.

Not really a true junk yard upgrade but a CAI from a WRX fits as well. I have a AEM CAI I bought for the WRX off of ebay but never installed it so I mocked it up on the Formula. Soon as I get the correct silicone adapter I will post pics.

I need more info on these rotors from the labaron? is it? and is there an EGR valve that can be takin from any other engines that will work on our cars? Maybe the other 2.8 MPFI like the celebrities?

oh and to add to the list! a 2.8L camaro EGR tube, just have to oblong one hole and it fits right in. It is pretty well indestructable compared to the stock fiero one too. I picked one up for a big $2 at the local wrecker here.

great thread now lets just make it last!!!

I was tooling around Rodney Dickman's website www.rodneydickman.com and under 'Electrical' he has listed the LeBaron headlight motors as being repairable with his 87-88 Fiero kit. Now I'm wondering...is the Chrysler a good donor for motors and control modules/harnesses for a motor upgrade? I'd like to be able to splice that into my pre-87 system and get the superior motor! LeBarons were waaaaayy more plentiful and you don't find Forums dedicated to preserving them. So that means sun visors and headlight motors from this popular car could be used in our *very special* little cars!

<UPDATE> i got an e-mail from Rodney Dickman he said the motors are NOT the same, maybe only the internal brushes are alike. Sorry 'bout that.
