After a tip from John(PFF Wudman) when I bought my Fiero from him, he told me there was a awesome junkyard about 20-30 mins from my house. He said it was huge, and that he remembered 4 Fieros being there. So seeing as I need a driver side molding(see my I got a Fiero thread) and a few other things my g/f & I went there. Now we got there.......it this place was HUUUUUUUUUUGE!!!!!!!! I mean massive, it was a $1 to get in. So I find the GM section quick....then I realize the size of this section....
After about 30 minutes of searching I was getting mad, I was freezing cold(had shorts on & a hoodie ) and no luck. Saw a bunch of nice new Grand Prix and other cars in good section, they even had a BMW section and other "rich" cars. Well I came across a Firebird like mine, and was like SWEET. It wasn't a Fiero, but i'm a serious Firebird addict too. Then I look over and see like 10-20 Firebirds/Camaros.........I was shocked..... Then I start to search through them, especially the 4th gen ones to see if they had the dash still and I see ANOTHER 10-20 of them!!!!! There was like 50 Firebirds/Camaros, mainly 3rd gen, and a few 4th and 2nd ones. It was soooooooooo cold so I had to pull myself away from the firebirds & etc so I can look to see if there was any Fieros....
I was getting mad, and really cold, so my g/f & I decide to leave. Well while heading out.......I caught something right infront of me......
A notchback!!!!!! Then I see a red one! THEN ANOTHER one.......THEN ANOTHER. I started jumping up & down like a little kid lmao, and there was a total of TEN FIEROS in a row!!!!!!!!!!!! All notchbacks, coupes/bumperpads/formulas. None of them were Aero(which I want, particulary fastback style). But I do want to get all round moldings, and since I need a driver side one. I found 1 Fiero outta the 10 with rounded moldings. I was to scared to pull it off but I inspected the rest of the Fieros for valuable stuff. All the door tabs were gone, but there was at least 2-3 good center consoles, ONE of the tail lights were in excellent condition, and the rest had there each minor mess ups. There was sooooo many great things, also one of the formulas had GT ground effects in ok condition.
I wish I had my digicam with me, I am definetly going there tommorow, and at least a couple more times to check out the Fieros even more and the Firebird stuff for 4th gen dash stuff.
But I have a few questions......
HOW do I take off the rounded moldings?? Particurlary the driver side molding mainly.
What are some other things I should take??? I wasn't sure.....it was cold so I could only tolerate the coldness for so long but will go tommorow. Also besides things for my Fieros, what things sell good or things someone here wants me to see if one of the Fieros have??
Also any things I should take on the near 50 firebirds/camaros, mainly 3rd gen, some 4th and 2nd ones too.
Oh yeah.....I did get something small, I found it on the ground, the cloth? grey with black pegasus Fiero map pocket thing lol. Not sure what i'm going to do with it Well peace!!!!!!

I have a fiero graveyard near me, at one point I recall counting around 33 fiero's. All noticies and nothing worth salvaging tho I documented my last trip and you can see all the cars left at http://www.ghettosled.com/gallery/ Click on the Deceased Fiero's link.

I saw a few things to salvage off those cars. The hoods could Have been used for someone who want a hood scoop/vent and not ruin thier original, the taillights for those who want to sent a set to Racingman24 and still beable to drive thier Fieros. Guess you just have to look at things that way.
Did any of them have factory subs? I know some people who might be interested in one..
They are hard to see, especially if the map light assembly is missing. The codes for how a Fiero came equipped what options a Fiero has are on the inner fender well, on the drivers side. The code for the factory sub is UT4. If I am not mistaken(sp). It actually is the "performance sound system" Arm yourself with all codes and look on the code sticker. Someone link him to them. My link is on another computer. Any 88 model we need to know about. Offhandedly ask how much for a whole car. May be cheaper than parts you want and if not, costs can be recouped. There was a treasure trove of Fieros at an out of the way scrap yard close by. I called after Jscotts T top install thread and they crushed them. Save them parts, NOW !
My understanding is they DO NOT crush them until they are basically bare boned. As tesmith66 its not U Wrench It, I haven't went there yet to see if they have any Fieros but this place is 3x as big as U Wrench it, its MASSIVE!!!! Here's a hint...... its name is fast........and its near somewhere fast...
I'll probably go today, I will take pictures and I will look at those formulas. I'll check out a Grand Prix for you Tim, and i'll thoroughly go through the Fieros. BUT first i'm getting the stuff I need drivers side rounded molding, and other rounded moldings. Then checking the Firebirds...........
Something tells me i'll probably go again a few times this week lol.
if someone can get me a lower front airdam for a 91-93 grand prix GT or GTP in good condition with the fog lights, ill make it worth your while, its $200 new from the dealer, and i want one thats in good condition,
i think the 89-90 turbo grand prix had the same lower front airdam
if any of the grand prix, have the hood vents, grab them and sell them on ebay, they get $30-75 a pair.
matthew
edit: the 91-93 SE has the airdam too if it has RPO code B4U on it (which is the aero package for grand prix's)

I can see quite a few pieces that may be of use to someone, those glass sail panels for instance.
There's four Fieros at my local place, I've gotten most of the good parts off 'em They won't sell whole cars though, which is too bad, since there's this one in about as good condition as mine, but it has a sunroof and manual transmission.
I always take a heavy toolbox, as many tools as I can carry, including a repair manual. I also take zip-lock bags for small parts. I can usually get a bag-o-crap for $25. My best score was a pre-recall vent for the 84 decklid, for $10! It helps if the guy behind the counter doesn't know what the heck it is
Look for headlight motors, those black screw covers for the tail-light bolts, and check the RPO sheet for any options the car may have.
Here's another hint: If you see a good part you want on a car but don't know how to get it off, practice on another car first If you break a crappy piece, it's better than breaking the good one you found.
Fiero Finale you must be talking about Speedway. Right across from the race track? I go there at least a couple times a month. Last time I was there I saw a GTP, got excited, got closer… engine fire… I was thinking about taking the heads anyway. There is an 88 4cyl over at Riverside off of Hall Street. It was complete a couple weeks ago, nice grey interior, probably totally molested by now.
You might see me digging around on the weekends.

That place off of Hall if it is the one I am thinking of makes crusher bait out of the Fieros pretty quickly. Parts are cheap enough, but you better get what you can when you see it.
Also Fiero Finale, glad you found a yard, but the one I was thinking about had the qualifer as a "junk" yard staffed by nice guys, but scary in a "Macon County" kind of way guys. Parts here are very cheap, Fieros are few, but had lots of what you needed last time I checked..
Caseyville Auto Slavage I-64 to Rte 157 (north) to light past Hucks, New Bunkum Rd (left) to 4 way Black Rd. (right) up about 1/2 mile to old school yard.

LOL! I once got an entire Performance Sound system for $10! I pulled the speaker end off, stuffed all the wiring and such down into the speaker enclosure, and put the speaker back on. The guy was like "what is that?" I said, "I think it's a speaker". Bam. $10. Sold it for $200. hehehe Well, I forgot the $2 to get into the yard, so $12. Sweeeeet... Haven't seen another Performance Sound system in years.

So my brother & I decide to go out the to the junkyard that I went to that I mentioned about at the beginning of this thread. As top-dawg said, the place is called Speedway. Its right across the "street"(highway lol) from Gateway Speedway. You you can see the Gateway nearby when in the junkyard.
Anywho, so my brother & I get there. Slap down $1 each(I paid to be nice) and we took the Firebird since we might be getting some big parts and the Fiero is a bit small lol(and I need to replace the tires still). So we went to the Firebird/Camaro section since my brother wanted to look for stuff for the Firebird, hes buying it from me btw, and I watned to look for 4th generation Firebird interiors.
So like I said at the beginning there was about 50ish F-Bodies. They were broken up into like "four lots".
Here is "lot #1" 2 Rows, with X amount of F-bodies
Here is "lot #2" 2 Rows, with X amount of F-bodies
Here is "lot #3" 4 Rows, with X amount of F-bodies
Here is "lot #4" 2 Rows, with X amount of F-bodies
Heres a picture of me standing in lot #4(near the purple Firebird in the above picture) and look at the other lots. #1 is to your left, #2 is infront of you, and #3 to your right. #3 is the biggest, but they are all nice size "lots". Lots of AWESOME parts for people wanting things off of 3rd gen F-bodies, some nice 2nd gen ones too.
But my favorite.......and what I was happy to see...
4th Generation Firebird dash.......heck yeah! lol. I was happy to see this, but it was torn in half....Found another one but in the same condition about with the half that you see "missing" here in this picture there but the half you see in this picture gone. So I thought maybe I could put them together lol. Well I found this....
muw haha. I was happy to find this, in great condition too!! But I didn't think I had enough cash on me to get it today, so I will probably get it another day. I found a "ok" console in another Firebird. So I have a dash, console, and steering wheel, what other vital parts are good that I need or whatever???
Yeah MinnGreenGT I TOTALLY forgot about looking for the those oh well I will come back for the Firebird interior swap and then more........
[This message has been edited by Fiero Finale (edited 03-25-2005).]
So we continued onto the Fiero graveyard I spoke of above. As I said, there was a total of 10 Fieros, all notchbacks and various bodystyles besides aero(although there was like 2 of them with side aero ground effects. It was odd.).
So I took a few pictures while my brother & I were looking for stuff.
There was so many nice Fieros. Lots of hoods great for projects like Fierokid87 said. Majority of the body panels were in great condition except for like 2 notchback clips and a few other things that were trashed pretty hard lol. There was one gold Fiero, that was so sun faded it was like silverish it was neat. I found so many things I wish I could took with me, thats why I plan another trip hahahahahhah.
So anywho.....I needed a drivers side molding but I have ribbed ones and eventually want all rounded(smooth) moldings and we found this...
We found this on the ground next to a (formula???) with round moldings. We also got the other molding for the door thats behind the lock(we learned it was screwed in lol.) Then next to that (formula?) we found another Fiero with partial rounded moldings...oh well it will do. So we got the passenger side door moldings and the tiny one also. The last rounded molding we found was the drivers side fender. I have a (aftermarket/custom???) scoop on my Fiero, and I eventually want to get Integrated Rocker Panels so I decided to go back to stock. So I found a nice condition stock vent. I also got a black Fiero gas cap, just incase someone steals mine.
So like the Firebird stuff, I didn't think I had enough cash on me to get all the "extra" Fiero stuff I wanted. So my brother did what I called OPERATION SAVE THE FIEROS lmao We closed all(or most of the ones we could) decklids and hoods and covered the sunroofs. It was drizzling, so we didn't want anything to get ruined when we came back, cause a lot of the stuff is nice. So we went out way, but not without checking out some other cars like a Porsche we found and a couple BMW's and extra.
So we left.......and my brother said "lets go to U Wrench It" I was like sure lol. So we head onto U-Wrench-It in St. Louis since it was nearby, its smaller but oh well. I got excited cause we saw this pull infront of us and turn left....
Jake hurry & snapped off these pictures
So we went on our way to U-Wrench-It. We didn't find any Fieros....darn, we found like 4 F-bodies total. Now that I know about Speedway I am probably never going to U-Wrench-It again except every month or so when they get new cars lol.
Well we got home with all our new prizes and soaked them in nice soapy water and cleaned them off real good......this is all we got:
2 Firebird Seat Belt Guides 1 Firebird Gas Cap 1 Fiero Gas Cap 1 Fiero Stock Quarterpanel Vent 1 Drivers Side Rounded Center Door Molding 1 Drivers Side Rounded Rear Door Molding 1 Drivers Side Rounded Fender Molding 1 Passenger Side Rounded Center Door Molding 1 Passenger Side Rounded Rear Door Molding (The above was all found at Speedway, the below is at U-Wrench-It) 19 GM Lug Nut Caps(18 pictured, we used 1 cause the Firebird was missing one) 1 Firebird Dome Light Lense 1 Firebird Inside Center Console Piece
Tommorow(well today now) my brother & I are going to 4 Junkyards, that one you mentioned John(Wudman), and 2 other ones to look for Fiero & Firebird stuff. I plan on going to Speedway again soon, probably for that 4th Generation Firebird stuff and Fiero stuff(like a hood for a project of mine and etc).
Well I hope you guys enjoyed my adventures and I will make a update later!!!! Peace!!!!!!

Easiest way is to check the map light console on the ceiling. If it has the Performance Sound slider, the car has Performance Sound. Otherwise, it'll just have a lightswitch in the middle of the console.
You need that console, the wiring (which goes across the ceiling, down the drivers A pillar, and across behind the dash), probably the stereo, the amplifier (behind the carpet, next to the passengers knee), and the subwoofer (stuffed up behind the dash above the passengers feet) and all the wiring attaching it all.
SWEET, I know what you mean now!! I've seen a picture of that, I have the "console" with lights on the ceiling but not the performance sound option. I'll be sure to look out for the performance sound. Thanks, well i'm off to get a few hours of sleep. Peace and I will return late tommorow!

I picked through the upper intake manifold of that gold 86 SE two weekends ago. Sorry, I did not know you were looking for junk yards. BTW, I usually go to U-Wrench It first because they rotate cars FAST. I have seen as many as 6 there in pretty good shape at one time. The last time Speedway added a Fiero or even moved them around was over a year ago. They used to have two rows like that, but finally decided to get rid of them. The other ones were very well picked over.
Hey guys.... Or anyone with salvage yards close by. I posted this in the mall also, but will try here. I need the metal plate that is rivited onto the DRIVERS SIDE fender, that allows the side marker lights to screw on.
Not looking for a good fender. Just that metal piece. Not sure if both sides (drivers..passenger)are the same or not. But I need the DRIVERS SIDE if they are not the same. If anyone has one, or can find one during one of you trips to the yard, let me know what you would want for it. Have my marker lights siliconed in right now, Works, but a son of a gun to change bulbs. Thanks Jim

Yeah Paul I plan on going to U-Wrench-It sometime in the next 2 weeks cause thats when they usually "refresh" the yard. Hopefully they get some Fieros then.
Well my brother & I checked out another junkyard with no luck so we went and got enough oil for the Firebird & Fiero, 2 bottles of that smoke/noise/emissions crap and a oil pan and some other things. We where going to change the oil today, but it was to risky to do it at my house(unlevel) so tommorow hopefully we will. Speedway closed early today, I was going to go back to get somethign so i'll probably do that tommorow so i'll look out for that part JKFIERO.
Well peace!

So this past Sunday my brother, his friend, & I all went to U-Wrench-It and then to Speedway.
We were looking for Firebird stuff & Fiero then my brother saw a Fiero!!!! Cha ching!(This was in U-Wrench-It btw). It was a yellow bumperpad Fiero. Some goodies I saw was a GT Steering wheel! Then the power windows & etc, and a couple other things. I took off the door tabs & horn button lol. So anyone in the St. Louis area may want to go there QUICK to get any of the valuable stuff off it before they crush it.
So we went to Speedway, got some things off of the Firebirds for my brother(totally forgot to check for the T/A vents oops) and then we went to the Fiero section just to overlook it again. Well I was aparently blind the last 2 times I went cause one of the Fieros were INDEED A AERO, it didn't have a aero nose but had the rear bumper!!!!!!! So I got it off and I saw another guy working on a Fiero. I asked him if he knew how to take out the fastners(which I found out later). I also got 4 Stock Fieros vents .
So I went home, but stopped at Autozone to pick up Bondo-Glass and a couple other things since the bumper had a crack in it above the license plate area.
Well the fun began lol. So here is a picture previews after I called it a night, I am not going to show the full size pictures till i'm done but unless some people in a Fiero AIM chat show up & say what I did or you can squint your eyes really well and tell then you will see what I did till then here is the spy pics .
Anywho so Today Adam(Puck) and I went to Speedway to pick up a couple things & etc but they closed a hour early :demon: mofos so hopefully we will go again soon. Well thats all peace!
Anyways we had something to pick up for another Fiero member(PM sent lol) and we were also looking for just misc crap, digital dashes, firebird dashes and so on.
Anyways look what they put up since I last visted about 2 months ago!!
*red carpet rolls out lol*
WELCOME FIERO OWNERS
Totally sweet heh??? We did not see one other "car type" sign anywhere else. Just brand, GM, BMW, so on. But they gave FIeros their own sign, YEAH!!!!!!
Anyways there is a lot of nice things, if I have the time and anybody see's something in the pictures above i'll go get it for you(NOT FOR FREE lol ) Well later guys and keep posting about Fiero junkyard spots.
Haha, that's great! Sure you didn't put that up yourself?
My local yard is down to 1 red 84 SE
No Adam(Puck) and I didn't put it up lol. First thing out of Adam's mouth was "take a picture of that now" lol. I wonder if another Fiero made a suggestion cause like I said above it's the ONLY cars with their own "title" section. Somethings up.... lol
