LOL! I used to work for a movie car rental company. The studios rotinely abuse the crap out of vehicles even when they're not abused onscreen. Watch your car carefully. I'll be watching for a red Fiero at my local cinema getting the p*** beaten out of it or doing a 200 foot jump.

Would be a better death to a fiero than getting run over by a hummer.... grr...

Well my 18 year old baby is now on his own in the Big Easy.
I delivered PROUD-2 to New Orleans and turned it over to Spyglass Entertainment for use in the upcoming film "Stay Alive" From published reports here's what I can tell you about the picture:
"Brent Bell will direct from a script by Bell and Matthew Peterman that follows a group of young friends in New Orleans who reconnect for the funeral of a friend who died while playing a video game called "Stay Alive." They discover that the murders are being acted out in real life by the spirit of a local legend that might have come through the game with murderous intentions. The producers on the project are McG, Schlessel, Barber, Birnbaum, Stern, Peterman and Bell. The co-producers are David Manpearl, Erin Stam, Anna Mastro and Stephanie Savage. Adam Del Deo is serving as executive producer with Jonathan Glickman and Doug Hansen. The film starts shooting next month in Louisiana."
I can also tell you that shooting with Proud-2 starts on Monday for the establishing shots. The car will work later in the month for some location shooting on a Plantation. All the characters in the movie drive interesting cars, but the Fiero is to be the coolest car. This could be the most extensive use of a stock looking Fiero ever on film.
I haven't seen the entire script but the scenes I have seen are not going to involve and chase scenes, crashes, or stunts of any kind. The transportation Director is going to oversee the use of the car personally. That's me unloading the car from my trailer onto his trailer. If anything happens to the car it is insured by the studio. These pictures were all I got before my camera battery died. Miss Tress took some of these and many more with her camera and will be on the set Monday so I expect to be able to post some shots of the car actually working later.
The movie is called "Stay Alive" I don't know when it's coming out but will probably be next year sometime. Shooting has just started and these projects take a long time.

Well Miss Tress has helped me out with a few more pictures. It's an odd feeling to see your car loaded up onto the trailer of a person you just met. But it was a nice trailer, with big long ramps; I have somelong ramps on my Christmas list.
They covered my expenses but don't expect to get rich this way. My primary motivation was to see the Fiero portrayed in a positive light. I had to be sure that the Fiero would not be degraded in any way before I would agree to it. The Director himself, Brent Bell, called me and assured me that he was a big fan of the Fiero and it was his idea to use it in the picture. They were searching all over for a nice red GT. Admittedly Skitime's is nicer, but I don't think his schedule would permit it.
My goals for Proud-2 are to make it a nice showcar that people think of when they think of the nicest Fieros out there. I have a ways to go but I'm getting there.
By the way, the Hottie Diaries are not quite caught up to reality...I got a "Hottie" escort into New Orleans
And the Hottie is looking great...but I have a soft spot for little white 88 coupes.

See, I told you she would come in handy. Details, details and more details. With pics no doubt.

They could have at LEAST put it in a closed trailer! LOL (If the movie does well I won't have to answer questions like "what's a Fiero?" - I don't know whats up with people in northern Minnesota but NO ONE seems to know what they are.)
Congradulations, and the best of luck!

Man, the first time I read that I thought... "Jon's battery died...? I bet the studio guy was annoyed at having to give it a boost. Wonder if they are going to buy him new battery...."
then re-read it and realized it was the camera battery. DUH Not all of can be NASA engineers
And your car being in a movie to be released is nothing... My car has been on TV! you might have seen it!!! Some little show called CSI or something.... They were supposed to get back to me on the status of my car. Maybe I should call and make sure everything is okay....

After I read my own post I thought "maybe I should say Camera Battery" but then I thought "naw, who would think that my car battery died?"
I have a copy of the script, I am sworn to secrecy...but there are some cool scenes in here with the Fiero. Let's hope they make it to the screen. Or you will see a post a year from now, "Buy the Stay Alive DVD and see my car in the DELETED SCENES BONUS MATERIAL!" lol

I was looking at the names of the producers, ( McG, Schlessel, Barber, Birnbaum, Stern, Peterman and Bell. The co-producers are David Manpearl, Erin Stam, Anna Mastro and Stephanie Savage. Adam Del Deo is serving as executive producer with Jonathan Glickman and Doug Hansen.) Is this a movie the whole family can watch?

If you couldn't tell from the description above this is a horror movie. Well, after reading the first few scenes this will definitely be an R rated movie, so no, I wouldn't recommend it for the whole family.

Someone is going to meet their demse near the car but it will be outside... I don't know what the director has in mind exactly, but he specifically wanted a red Fiero

Oh, I can't wait for the day I get my Firebird dash in there... I've got it sitting in the garage, just aching to be put in, I just don't have time to tear my car apart, what with school and work and that my GT is my daily driver... I suppose I'll buy like a $500 CR-X or something, they're cheap and plentiful around here, what with "import tuning" rather popular locally...

Some day there will be a plug and play harness and kit to allow you to install that firebird dash in a weekend.... but it's not quite ready yet
I can already foresee an entry in the Internet Movie DataBase..."Incorrectly Regarded as a Goof" exterior shot shows an 88 Fiero yet the interior shot is a late 90s Firebird...The actual car looks that way

Lol, I know... You did a professional job and a half on your car. It seriously does look like a Firebird from the inside...

^Does that mean you're working on something? Me first! Me first! I do relish the idea of doing my own custom install, because I absolutely love fabrication and the like, though it'll have to wait til December when she's off the road anyhow, seeing as it's my DD (daily driver)...

Congrats on the movie part. Even though I woulda liked to see the one with Stage 2 scoops get the part, for obvious reason.
Thanks...the Number 2 car will get stage 2s after the fact, as I think I want that to be my trademark on all my cars. Maybe someone can photoshop them into the movie?

Thanks to the investigative reporting skills of MissTress 007 we have first reports on the T-top from the location shooting of "Stay Alive"
The Cafe in the French Quarter of New Orleans where our characters hang out:
What's this Proud-2 wearing Lousianna Licence Plates??
The script call for the character who "owns" my car to be installing subwoofers in the trunk...I know that sounds ridiculous, but this is make believe, so they will probably have some kind of prop back there.
The script calls for this van, (being driven by a stunt driver) to come "dangerously close" to the Fiero. If the stunt driver hits the car, anybody know where I can get another 88GT, 5 speed, T-tops with Firebird interior?, LOL

Because they were running late they didn't actually film the cafe scene today (scene 52B) but this is really just the establishing shot. The real starring role are scenes 73 to 78 in which the car will be driven and also be used as an important plot point. Probably won't have any pictures of that, so we'll all have to wait until the movie comes out
The car is not the star of the moive, but it will be seen with a major character driving it, and it will be in a pivotal scene with that character. So it will be quite a bit better than the " I saw a Fiero drive by in the background of so and so movie"
He are some first hand reports from Miss Tress from the location shooting: (for any one missing the Hottie Diaries, here is a taste)
"The set itself was pretty open and I didn't have any trouble just walking up and talking to people. Turns out they were just coming back from a lunch break, so the crew was walking back from "base camp"--a collection of the trailers, trucks, supply tents and the location where the crew parked their cars. Base camp was about 2 blocks away from the shooting location. I wandered around and peeked at the setup for a bit before asking what turned out to be one of the directors where I could find the Transportation Director (Tom). I told him that I was with the red fiero, and he told me that I could just hang around until he got back from base camp. I walked about another half a block and found the t-top already prepped and waiting for its starring moment. They'd removed the Texas inspection sticker and changed out the license plate to their "original" Louisiana plate. The car was sitting on the corner across from the coffee shop that they were using to film the other scenes, so I snapped some pics of the whole setup. I got the camera and light setup outside of the cafe; the tents, truck city and crew hanging around. ...I got some pics of the lead actor "Phineus" who's going to be driving the Fiero, and it was a tall, slim, red-headed guy. (I snapped some pics of him talking to some of the crew members on the sly.)
The tents setup in the street had a place for the camera monitors and there were places for director's chairs with the lead characters' names on them. Each "star" had their own makeup artist that followed them around; touching up their makeup and making sure their costumes were right. LOL It was kind of funny to see these people being followed around like that.
There was a police officer on set as security, so Tom introduced me and told him that I was "with the car". hehe That part was funny. Whenever Tom introduced me to anyone, or anyone asked me what I was doing there; the answer was always "she's with the car". LOL Imagine that, the t-top was a starring cast member with it's own following! hehe :-) I'd parked the Hottie on the other end of the street and a few crew members walking by stopped and looked and asked us if it was being used as well. (Maybe next time. hehe) You did have a couple of the crew ask Tom if the company had bought the t-top 'cause they wanted to take the wheels once the shoot was over! I made sure to tell them about how much work you'd put into the car, and that it was only on loan to the company--you wanted it back in pristine condition. Most of the time I was there I ended up watching them do a few scenes inside the cafe. I did get to watch the stunt coordinator map out the scene and actually do a "dry run". I snapped a couple of pics of him setting up his camcorder; talking to the driver in the van and acting out the scene as the van drove by. After a couple of hours, it was starting to get dark. They still hadn't finished with the indoor scenes, and Tom said they'd probably end up moving the car scene until Tuesday because it was so late. Bummer! I was hoping to have seen them working with the t-top, but we had to go. Tom told us that we could come back anytime and hang out on the set. "
Jon, So is it "Trailer Queen" or "Movie queen" ( star)
I am on the fence, can't deside....
Congrats on the movie role! Maybe they need a cool gray GT to come by and steal the female actor and then get into a racing scene throughout LA. then your car goes out of control and burns and MY car becomes the new "star" hahahahahaha or visa versa
Can't wait for an AUTOgraph !!!!!

This car probably will become a trailer queen as I can't have it's tires soiled by touching the dirty ground
The "near miss" scene was filmed yesterday morning. I guess the stunt driver actually missed. (that's a good thing) Here is a report from the scene:
" They ended up filming the "near miss" scene yesterday morning. They took the t-top off and when the van came by to do the near miss, the dude leaned over into the car a bit. It only took a few minutes to do, so I didn't miss much. The next time they use the car is during the scenes when they're at the plantation.
I'm going to try to go to the new shooting location on Friday or Monday and then find out exactly where they'll be from there. Right now the car is stored at the garage at the hotel until they need it again. "

Man, this is good news reporting. More! More! More!
Speakers in the trunk? They must have seen the Plasma trunk speakers, hehehe.
Even though the part was written for a Fiero they still didn't quite understand what mid-engine means. LOL I'll be interested to see what the actor was actually doing in the trunk when the van came by. And I'm not sure who leaned who's head into what car. That sounds pretty dangerous. I guess that's why they get paid the big bucks.

Maybe she will notice some of the cones that were blocking off the parking areas on the street were actually waiting for the Hottie...
