There will be no "Display" class this year. If you do not want your car judged and you want to join the rest of the Fieros in the track, you have two options: 1) Register for the show and park in the designated parking area behind the show Fieros 2) Register for the show, display your car with other Fieros in the same class and then do not go to the judging area when called. That's it. Please note that you must fill out the questionairre first and then you will be ASSIGNED to a show class ( which will determine where you park). You do NOT pick your class this year. We will assign you to a class when you register.

Hey I own page two...
Sorry, I didn't mean "same class". Your parking job will be easy this year! This year everyone will be allowed to pick their own parking spot within the Fiero show car area. Cars will NOT be parked in classes. Fiero clubs and/or friends may park as a group. However, we will have a special parking area in the front for previous Best of Show, Best of Class, or Class winners. Owners who do not wish to have their car compete will do so by simply not taking their car to the judging area during the day.
Here are some of the many procedural changes this year for the car show. Show officials will determine the appropriate show class for your Fiero, based on your completed questionnaire. All cars will be driven to a judging area (hopefully, a tent) this year for judging. Judges will be allowed to touch the vehicle to open and close doors or ashtrays as necessary and will use mirrors to inspect the underside and hidden areas of each Fiero. Judges will also be allowed to get on their hands and knees to judge a car if they desire. Each car will be judged in exactly the same manner. You will be allowed to clean your car until you drive it into the judging area. However, the judges will not take off points for parking lot dust. If you leave a seat cover, bra, or similar protective item on your Fiero, the judges will ask you if you want to remove it before the car is judged. If not removed, judges will assume that the covered item is in poor condition and subtract maximum points for the item in question.
For information on the show, to register, or to get a copy of the show rules, watch the official show web page at http://floridafieros.org/daytona2006
The ONLY Daytona 2006 Fiero Car Show information posted on Pennock's that are to be considered official information will be postings by Tom Corey or Frank Martin (Dragon).
As for the number of judges, it's probably a question of how many bystanders are around when the judging begins. Last year since I was standing around not doing anything I was asked to be a judge. It's much harder than it looks. I think the changes this year will make it a bit easier, for the judges at least.
I probably will not submit my car for judging; even if it has paint there are still going to be a lot of rough areas for at least another year.

I'll put one on the front page of the North Florida Fiero site tonight. Days, hours, minutes, seconds work for ya?
Does this meen that since my car won Best of Show Daily Driver last year that I can't enter it in for judging again?
Bonzo
Absolutely not! It just means you can park up front in the previous winner's area, if you like. Regardless of where anyone parks, all they have to do is have their car judged sometime during the day. We will call them by class to the judging area, but you can arrive whenever - as long as your car is judged before the end of the show. If you don't want to compete for a trophy, just don't have your car judged.

Tom , how many judges will look at each car? or will there be different judges for different classes of cars?
Five. There will be a paint and body judge, an interior judge, an engine compartment judge, a front and rear compartment judge, and a wheel well area judge for every car. Any judge that has a car entered in the show will not be allowed to judge any cars in that class. I will substitute and judge all ties. We will also have additional alternate judges in case more than one judge has a car entered in the same class. The chief judge will be present for the judgine of every car. Additionally, I intend to limit the judging time to 3 minutes per car again this year.

If I'm wrong, Dragon will chime in, but I 'm pretty sure we don't have anything planned until Friday - then it's registration and Go-Cart racing Friday evening. I don't know if Frank has arrranged a time yet or not. There is a huge separate parking area in back of the hotel on the I-95 side where you will be able to park and clean and talk. Plenty of room for all trailers and all cars. In fact, I would recommend parking in the back instead of in front of the hotel and around the rooms - we have a huge parking lot we can take over for show and tell. FYI, it's getting pretty damn cold down here - the high today was only 68. We're hurting! Are your ready!?

That sounds good on the judging Tom. Have ya'll broken down the classes any yet? Oh , and did you buy the other GT ?
Show classes will depend on the cars that register. Basically we are looking at the following classes this year. Custom, Modified, Kit Cars, Mera (if more than 1 shows up), Daily Driver, and Stock. Whether or not we break them down further into GT and notchback subclasses, will depend on thje number of entries. Also the number of trophies per class will depend on number of cars in the class. So everyone PLEASE PRE-REGISTER so we will have an idea what the field is like far enough in advance to plan the right number of awards and classes. Ronnie, you have PM.

Both pages must be filled out when you register (or pre-register) before you can be assigned a show class.

I like the idea of the questionaire and letting the answers determine the class. However, the first two questions confused me. The second question seems redundant to the first. And it's not clear if you want the model as the car came from the factory or the way it appears currently? I would suggest those two questions be clarified or there will still be a lot of confusion come parking time, when fastbacks are sent to the notchback area, and vice versa.

The second question is just a little more spcific than the first - thats all. By te time you awnser all the rest of he questions we will have a good idea what you have done to your Fiero. The second question might give a optiion to break things down farther - hopefully
See you all in March

If you say so...still for #1 I would enter " Coupe" 'then for #2 I would circle" Fastback" and cross off GT. I Need a little insight into what you really want in there.

Hmm. I just put GT in the number 1 space and circled "Fastback GT" on line # 2. Funny that for #4 concerning "daily driver mile/day...ect, I put every-three months, hehe and 6500 miles.

Just made our reservations. I just called direct to main desk and asked for Spacecoast , no problems. I'd rather speak directly with Hotel Staff rather than an 800 number myself.

OK, here's official clarification - We want to know what model the car was when it came out of the factory. And yes, the questions are somewhat redundant. But please answer them both anyway. I think if you have change a coupe to a GT or vice versa, the answer to question 7.m. is where you shold indicate that those changes have been made. I'll keep this in mind for modifying the questionaire next year - if we get a favorable response on this approach this year. Thanks, we appreciate your constructive comments. If anyone needs clarification on anything else - please don't hesitate to ask.

Thanks for the clarification. For model I still consider my car a coupe because that's how it left the factory. Although it is a fastback, I don't consider it a GT because it doesn't have a 2.8, rear sway bar, 15 inch wheels, etc that the GT had . Question 7M didn't strike me as where I would put fastback conversion. In the future I would suggest a specific sub-bullet for that.

As part of the festivities on Friday, Suncoast Fieros will be sponsoring a road trip to St Augustine, FL. We will submit all the details in the next week or so. Watch for the info to show up on the link for the show in March.

Like I said, we'll give it our best shot and see how it goes this year and mod the questionaire next year if necessary. And I am sure some of you will find fault with anything we do. So be it. Believe me, you won't end up in the wrong class unless you lie about your car this year - they will also be checked out as they enter the judging booth, but I don't intend to be the Fiero cop. So if you have a clone Indy, GT, or whatever, and don't tell it's a bad on you. We are not paid professionals, we are just a small group of Fiero enthusiasts in central Florida out to put on a fun and fair event for all of you. We will take your word as ladies and gentlemen. Once again, we welcome constructive criticism, but if you'd like to discuss a particular point at length for any reason, feel free to contact me off the forum at tcorey1@cfl.rr.com

No problem, you guys put on a great show and I love being there.
However, mis-classification and judging anomalies are two of the things that can put a dark cloud over any show. If I were putting on a show I would make it show and shine format to avoid any possibility of that happening.
My car will not be in show winning condition so I'm not too stressed about the categories anyway. I really enjoyed last year when I spent two minutes shining and hours showing.

Many of the folks that come to the Daytona event show up just to enjoy everyone’s company and check out any of the new things / modifications that might be rolling out after a long winter. Or maybe just to thaw out.
Plus with the other car show what we are part of “Speedway Spectacular” o any of the other things to do down here in Central Florida – you can’t miss.
