I am willing to help. We will be arriving Friday afternoon, so attending the training session/meeting should not be a problem, and my car is bone stock.
I'm really looking forward to going. I've got a hotel on the beach though. I'm going to make it a look-at-fieros-and-celebrate-my-ladyfriend's-birthday kind of weekend.

Next year may be too late! We don't know how long we are going to keep doing this event!! Live a little ! Go for it now!!!
You're going to stop doing this event after 10 years? Any particular reason? I mean I really want to go, but my car's a piece. Well, at least the stereo'll be done. Eh, yea, I'll probably go, but then again, I don't want to reserve a hotel room when I don't know if I'll even show up. If I go, I'll sleep in my car or something, lol.

You can reserve a hotel room, but cancel it if you decide not to go.
After 10 years of doing the show, many of the same people have been doing the work for the 10 years. It is getting harder and harder to put these shows together meeting everyones expectations. Thankfully we get several door prize donors, many of the same ones come back year after year, but we do lose several also.
The availability of a nice hotel at reasonable prices during the Daytona Spring Spectacular is very hard. I think Frank lucked out at this years hotel because last year they wanted $129/night. The Holiday Inn Express offers a "free" breakfast with the deal.
Planning this years events, road trip to St Augustine or go-cart track event takes coordination. Face to face meetings seem to work the best so our coordinators are driving hundreds of miles for meetings.

I guess it's time for some new people in FL to step up and help organize these events. Otherwise I would have no reason to visit Daytona Beach in the spring.

I didn't intend to start a rumor. I was just being tongue in cheek. We'd like to see a bunch of folks here again this year - a lot of work goes into this every year - so come on down
I plan on going to Daytona every year, its about a 2 hour drive with traffic. I dont drive my car inside because it is the car I drive everyday, nothing special. I have seen better looking Fieros in the parking lot. We get to Daytona around noon on saturday and walk in. After about 2 hours of walking we have seen most of what we came for. If I drive my V8 this year I may drive it into the field for a few hours saturday and park with the in progress cars. My wife cant take all the walking so we dont stay very long. Now if we drive the car in side and bring a cooler and chair she will probably stay longer. We will see. I hope we can keep this going for another 10 years but if not well lets all show up anyway
We will be there with 2 newbies !!!!!! Who else is coming ? Lets start a list so the Florida club folks will have an easier time with planning...............Come on people, we can all drink b**r and howl at the Florida moon !

Just made the hotel reservations for myself, 007, Exotic Rida and 4.9 PFI FIERO--so that's 4 from the previously-New-Orleans-but-now-located-in-Georgia-fiero-group.

Just got my room. So far its just me and my Rx7 buddy. We may bring more. I have one problem. Should I detail my car well and cover the front in saran wrap for the drive over? Or should I just do it all there. I will take along time tho with the hose. ------------------ 1988 Fiero GT

Frank and I made a run up to Daytona today, to gather some more information on the Daytona Go-cart event sponsored by V8 Archie. We also investigated an alternative track and tried out some food and beverages at the Daytona Ale House located next to the host hotel, the Holiday Inn Express.
The event will be held Saturday evening at www.speedparkdaytona.com , after the barbecue dinner at the hotel. We can obtain a group rate of $22 + tax/person for three hours of unlimited attractions excluding the Nitro Alley. The Speed Park is located behind Hooters, just down the road from the hotel and across from the Daytona Speedway.
Speed Park has three go-cart tracks on site.
Track 1 is a banked oval where you can obtain the highest speed (for a go-cart)
Track 2 is a road course with wide turns.
and track 3 is a more challanging road course (tight turns) which also has the newest go-carts
Nitro Alley is an extra cost option of a two run drag race at $15/person.
Archie will be offering 16-17 tickets for this event at a Saturday raffle at the Daytona Race track in the Fiero staging area.
The Speed Park closes at midnight so plan on getting there before 9 PM for three hours of fun. The cost to have the track completly to the Fiero group was far to expensive, and Speed Park would not allow us to block just one track for our sole use. There may me some delays at trackside between runs for the Daytona Spring breakers who want to use those facilities.
Speed Park shuts down in case of rain, which mean no rain racing.

It's going to be a great show this year. With the trip to St. Augustine and the Go-Kart racing, it should be a full and fun weekend. This is the closest thing to a vacation I might get this year. Everyone should come on down and enjoy!! Besides the high today will around 70. It's just so tough living in Florida.

OK, guys and gals, here's the latest tentative agenda for Daytona 2006.
Thursday
If you arrive early we will have dinner somewhere together around 6 PM (Ale House?) Hang out in the parking lot afterward
Friday
Breakfast at Sawmills - an experience you won't want to miss Optional run to St. Augustine Optional late luncn at the Ponce Inlet Lighthouse - you don't want to miss this either - a really cool place and not expensive! In the evening - A Blind Slalom run in the hotel parking lot (no seeing eye dogs allowed, but you need to grab a partner- probably not OLDLAR - he drives too slow!) Registration starts in the afternoon (poor Frank - he has to work) Hang out in the parking lot afterward
Saturday
Car Show in the infield of the Daytona Speedway Judging will start around 9-10 am - There are usually ~2,000 other hot rods in the infield to check out Catered poolside BBQ at the hotel in the evening after the show with door prize drawings ongoing Prizes from major vendors including the Fiero store, Mr. Mikes, The Fiero Factory, Rodney Dickman & many more plus 16+ tickets for our go-karting event from V-8 Archie Circle track and/or (your choice) drag race go-karting at the local go-kart track after the BBQ/door prizes Hang out in the parking lot afterward
Sunday
Awards Breakfast probably at the hotel - not firm yet Dyno your engine event Talk to the judges/pickup your judging sheets Possible final lunch TBD
In addition to all of this activity, the Ale House is right next door, Hooters, and several other really neat places are all within walking distance of the hotel - as is the Daytona Speedway itself and it's museum chocked full of fun video games and cool displays. Tailor your weekend to your own likes - We want to give you an extra special good time this year! So come on down, y'all! We are looking forward to seeing all our rowdy friends from the north country again this year!!

We are going to try and get there around 10:00, don’t know if we will be bringing the V8 or not. I have a month to work out the bugs and to fix some other issues. If we don’t bring the Fiero then we will probably only be staying for a couple of hours. When would be the best time to show up Saturday to meet some people?

The Dyno costs $50 dollars for two runs. This is a popular event with limited availability so if anyone is interested contact me at Dragon@SpaceCoastFieros.com

I'm younger than most at daytona so please don't confuse me. Last year someone thought i was with the kid wearing that pennocks sucks shirt. haha

Question "On the hotel Thursday is costing more than Friday or Saturday. I heard the room rate was going to run 3 days on ether side on the meet. Can you check on that? "
There is supposed to be an elastic spread on the room rates to include a couple of days before and after our event. If you have a problem with the reservations send me an E-Mail at Dragon@SpaceCoastFieros.com
Hello just made our reservations today. They said thursday at the same rate, but were not sure what time we will arrive as last year we came Sat late ( DOoooh ). Thanks Norm
