Then from what I remember it was 2000 - 2001 when they started having problems shipping parts. FOCOA was going down slowly around 2001 and it's just that around early 2003 when the many who got taken started getting together thanks to the internet and car forums. Then the pressure from the large group of complaints forced the cancellation of the 2003 show. Oh wait, I think the "reported" excuse was Phil and Gloria didn't want to fly to the show. BTW ~ What ever happened to FOCOSEVA? Didn't he post around May of 2003 that FOCOA would be around forever?
Oh here is the thread: https://www.fiero.nl/forum/Archives/Archive-000002/HTML/20030819-1-028689.html

Makes for some amusing reading. If you really want to see how far back it goes, Just do a search in the Archives. There are many posts going back to 2000 that list problems they had back in 1996 and 1997.

I got mine up until 4th qtr 2002 with the show info for 2003.
Is it safe to say that around mid 2003 when they had cancelled the show that they close up for good?

Yeah he sounds like a cool guy

I have been ripped off and robbed before, its worse when you have faith and respect in the other person when they ripp you off.

I hope they ALL get what they deserve.

Also if I was local and was screwed over, Id find out where those cars and memorabilia is at and clean house.

Folks, someone asked "what's up with FOCOA", and I answered with what I know. Would you please quit shooting the messenger? Christ.

Sir, I fail to see where the blame is being laid at your feet. Don't let your conscience get the best of you.

I wrote Hemmings about Phil, apparently they have removed his site.

I am also trying to find out what needs to be done to have the state of CA go after Mr. Phil Huff.

I have no idea what you're talking about. It seems to me like you want to make this out to be some unjust persecution of fierobear, and therefore completely unfair and irrelevent. That is what is known as a red herring. No one ever pointed a finger at you, so please calm down. I only joined this discussion because I became aware that FOCOA was still soliciting membership fees via the internet.

Good news. An email I received from Hemmings.

Thank you for your email regarding Mr. Phil Huff and FOCOA. HMN has
since
received another complaint about this same club posting and upon
investigation, we have decided to remove it from the HMN website. Per
Hemmings advertiser terms & conditions, "all advertising is subject to
approval. HMN reserves the right to reject any advertisement for any
reason
such as lack of space, suitability, advertiser's unreliability or
without
cause." We hope this measure will satisfy you and others who have
concerns
about the FOCOA organization. Please feel free to contact me if you
have any
additional questions or concerns.

Small steps....

I waiting on a call back from State Attorney's Offices in California and Nevada. I don't think Nevada can do anything because it originated in CA. But I'm sure the Fed's will be interested.

This whole discussion is a bit strange, considering my original comment wasn't directed at you, yet you jumped in. Sounds a bit like a red herring to me.

Would you feel better if you could give me a light spanking?

My initial post in this thread, which you did take exception to.

Jumped in. Again my apologies. I wasn't aware that I wasn't on the list of those allowed to have an opinion on the matter, despite having my money taken by the Huffs. Could you disclose that list for the rest of us, just to prevent further confusion?

I'm beginning to remember why I can't stand this place so much.

Would that be the same list, or a different one, that that determines who must calm down...

You mean like when people jump into threads and tell others to calm down, or post unsubstantiated speculation, perhaps posting trap questions? If so, then I know what you mean.

Bear I'll say thanks for the info. It shows character in that it was the right thing to do IMHO. If someone steals, lies, etc. expecially to the extent of Phil Huff it should be dealt with. I understand Kieth Huff's situation and hold no ill will towards him at all. If he is PokeyFiero so be it, no problem here. My issue is with Phil and Gloria and I would like to see some restitution made to those they stole from. I want him to sell off everything he owns relating to Fieros to make good towards us.

Reflecting, It is a shame this is happening, but Phil and Gloria were in control of what happened. Something should have happened long before now.

I was glad to at least provide some information. However...

...it *is* a shame. These folks are neighbors, relatively speaking, and friends. It's tough when a friend ends up in trouble. It leaves your loyalties divided, and you feel badly for both sides.

FYI, pokeyfiero isn't Keith. Pokey is Andrew, and he's working in my yard right now, helping build a fence and some stairs (actually, I'm helping him. He's a good craftsman). Keith lives in Southern California.

fierobear and 1986 Fiero, would you both please leave each other alone and let this thread actually be a useful source of information about FOCOA. The thread isn't about either of you. You're both perpetuating the argument. You're both at fault, and neither one wants to let the other get the last word. Let it go.

If you lost money with FOCOA please email me at info@fieroparts and let me know if it was for parts, membership
lifetime along with your name, address and a phone number and the amount you have lost. The local news paper may be getting involved, so I want to get as many stories as I can.

When I bought my first Fiero back in 2001, I joined FOCOA. I did a yearly membership and glad that is all I gave them.

Tim,

We will need the same info for the State Attorney. We need to get as much information as possible. If buy chance anyone still has receipts this will be a big help.

lifetime or just yearly or what ever. The local news paper may be getting involved, so I want to get as many stories as I can.

Email sent.

Small steps....

I waiting on a call back from State Attorney's Offices in California and Nevada. I don't think Nevada can do anything because it originated in CA. But I'm sure the Fed's will be interested.

If parts were paid for but not delivered I think they would be considered stolen. Stolen property crossing state lines makes it a federal felony. If the stolen property is in Nevada I would think the Nevada state police would be interested in knowing that.

I say closer to 10. Both Oreif and 1986 Fiero had bad dealings with FOCOA in the mid-to-late 1990s. And you can add me to that list. I cancelled my membership in 1998, because I saw the writing on the wall.

As a matter of fact, the 2nd Quarter 1998 issue of the Fiero Owner Magazine never happened. They tried to compensate by putting the stuff that should've been in the 2nd quarter issue into the 3rd quarter issue and calling it a "Special Bonus Double Issue". I still have it.

BTW, the "Fiero Doc" was Joe Wynman, not Keith Huff.
