I didn't start out to make this thing an IMSA, but I didn't want to install a regular wing, and I didn't want a "bobtail" either. I finally decided on the whaletail, since I have only seen a handful of them installed. I also had a set of Doug Kinney's regular quarter scoops, but decided that since I didn't have the GT's lower skirting the IMSA scoops would be less likely to collect rock chips, so I traded up.
All of the aftermarket body panels and quarter windows came from Fiero Warehouse. Good stuff! The color is Pontiac Stealth Gray (G6 and Grand Prix color). The body work (blending the spoiler, filling holes where emblems used to be, etc.) and paint was done by Dan Lipscomb / Body Works in Carrollton GA. The pics really don't do the paint justice. It just glows.
Edit - If the car looks dusty in the pics, that's because it is. It's been in the garage for two weeks being reassembled. I didn't think to wash it or dust it before I shot the pics.

I just bought an 88 GT that I am taking most of the aftermarket scoops and what not off of. This is exaclty what I planned on doing with the car since I had an extra set of Coupe panels.

Thanks for all the kind words. It's much appreciated. This one has been a long time in the making. I don't think I've put over 100 miles on it in the past two years, between pulling and reinstalling the engine, and then doing the body work. It's been immobile for so long, that I keep waiting for something to act up. Perhaps the rocker stud that broke will be "it".

I'm still thinking about that. The front has already been lowered by about an inch (remember... it's an 88.) It hasn't been back together for long. Hopefully it'll settle a bit more. When it does, I'll have it aligned. A little bit of negative camber will tuck the wheels up and under a little more.
While I think about it, Regarding ride quality... I cut one coil off the front springs and added the 17s. The ride is a little stiffer, but not much. Mostly feels like the tires. I did the same thing to my 3.4 coupe, only I also added poly bushings. The poly is what added most of the harshness to the ride. It's still a stiff ride, even with the stock Fiero 15" wheels.

It looks great, Steve! You've got the best of both worlds there...both a notchy, AND a fastback. I like the color, too...it sets off the whole car. Now, go out and put some miles on it!
Wow! You guys are going to give me a serious case of the big-head!
Robert, the front fascia and air dam are indeed the ones that came from IZATOY. They were as pristine as the rest of your car. Thanks! I still have the foglights. Had to remove them for the paint work, though.
The clear turn signals came from The Fiero Store.
The wheels were swapped from the red car in my sig, which now wears the stock Formula rims (at least until I wear out the tires.) They are CSA Gladiators, made in Australia. (That wasn't by design. It was purely by chance. I was looking for some wheels that fit the goofy 88 offsets, and bought them through Tiretrends.com, in Canada. Tiretrends was selling them as FRD Racing 130s. Strange.) Check out the old Mille Miglia EVO wheels. Mine are identical to those, except they don't have the rivets. There are other Mille Miglia wheels (check out Tirerack.com) that still look similar. When I saw the Solstice wheels, I was amazed at the similarity.
I am just glad that all my parts went to a good home and an excellent project! I showed the picture to IZATOY and she smiled! (I know strange but true!)
Love the car, now I just have to see it in person to really fall in love with it.
I actually kinda like it! Now that might not sound like much of a compliment, but my opinion of GTs would get me lynched if I posted it here. Anyone ever done this with a bumperpad?

How far is the top of the rear scoops from the rub molding? How tall is the scoop 'mouths'? I wonder how much would extend above the GT lower trim once installed? I'm thinking of these scoops to go on my GT body conversion, and I have a pair of Trans Am side vents I'm thinking of putting in the front fenders if I think they will compliment the lines.... Oh, and I'm glad to see someone post a pic of the clear front lights. I have a pair on the shelf in the garage waiting for the conversion as well. Really updates the look of the Fiero!
