I am working but don't let that stop a rally. The Round Up is just three weeks after that. Why not just put our efforts into making that a better turnout. We can get a date on the Ruckus and plan something around Waco in between the two.

So is there no Ruckus plan yet? If not, we should do it in Waco, seems like there'd be a good turn out. I'm not sure who would host and plan it, but I'm sure I could make a few trips down on my days off (Mon/Tues) to help out.
I agree with CliffW about maybe holding off on this until after the Roundup and (if there is a Ruckus site already), doing this in between the two. I know most of yall work 8-5 M-F but there are a few of us (me, Daniel, Stephen I think, more I'm sure) who don't and getting so many weekends off can be difficult.
Plus, for those of you who have never tried to host an event, it takes some planning... more planning than you can shove into two weeks, even a month would be difficult.

If we want to do it in July I can host it. I know a LOT of people around here with businesses and have a pretty good idea of some fun stuff to do. And I know that many of you would be more than happy to help me with some of the arrangements. I have hosted events before (just nothing for Fieros), and would be more than happy to do it. Maybe even the first of August if that would be better for the between times of the other two major events....
EDIT: there is a car show here in September - I will have the Indy there....would be neat to have some other Fieros too....

Man i went to bed last night and just checked this thread when i got home and it has blew up, seems like waco is kinda a certral location for alot of people, i am more than willing to help out with anything i just need to know, as far as putting this event in between the others, that sounds like a good idea but can someone post up a list of all the event going down and dates and locations that will help us figure out the perfect time, but as for me i love all this stuff i wouldnt mind meeting with just a few more owners cause everyone in my town hasent even heard of a fiero before they call it the lil lambo...lol... but yeah lets keep this thread going and start organizing some stuff and get it started!!!!!

Very soon after the Round Up. People may need to recover physically, finacially, and mechanically. Also, I have a family reunion the week of July 4th.

maryjane was visiting over Thanksgiving and I took him on a cruise through the Hill Country. He agreed it would make an excellent event "run". From Kerrville to Bandera on Texas Hwy 16 and back on Hwy 173. We could get out to Medina Lake but that would be stretching a day, yet we do have two. We could center the Ruckus in Bandera which is between Kerrville and the lake. Bandera is a sleepy little town and I would think motel rates are more than reasonable. Could even stay at one of many "Dude Ranches" or bed and breakfasts. Being new to these rallies, I see the local club rallies close to it's home. I understand the Ruckus floats so it is close to everyone at some time. The last two Ruckus' were in San Angelo and Austin. I felt fairness would have it in east or north Texas.

maryjane is moving to east Texas. He has planned an event. Let's make him do it again . Just kidding Don. I was listening when you told me a lot more goes into it than one would believe, that some monies usually come from the host's pocket as fees usually do not cover contingencies. Waco is north Texas. We could do the Ruckus there and all meet at the Round Up for now. If not in Waco, I volunteer to host the Ruckus. Next year we can do the Round Up, have a summit, and later the Ruckus. Spring summer, fall. I would love to see a rally at Big Bend State Park. They have a national championship chili cook off every year that I hear is a blast. Even if it is not a "rally" someone should join me this year.

I agree that July is a little quick after the other....just trying to find a good date....
Just got off the phone with the Drive-In Theatre here and they would love to host us and will advertise for people to come by. Justin, Gatesville is not that far from Bremond as long as you don't follow MapQuest directions....

Your PM was correct...."trying". Waco is in north central Texas . Just remembered. A Ruckus goal is to meet nearish to borders. West Texas invites New Mexico folks, east invites Louisiannans (sorry if the phrase is wrong), north invites Oklahomans and Kansans.

Well, it is the Red River Ruckus, I guess it could be held on foreign soil . May have started out as a Texan/Okie thing. Anyone shed some history ? Actually, I think we need Lloyd's input. I believe he is president of CFOG. Central Fieros Owners Group, a sub chapter of a national group. Which by the way we should all join and support. I believe the Ruckus is co-sponsered by CFOG.

Yeah - I don't like the idea of putting the Indy on foregin soil...I know my brain gets a lot weaker when I cross the river (I guess there are some brain cells that just refuse to have to be exposed to Okie molecules)....not sure how the Indy would handle it....
Mid August would put us between the Roundup and the Ruckus... Actually, looks like August 18th-20th weekend would be exactly in the middle. Anytime in August would be good for me, no holiday weekends and not too close to any other weekends I'll miss.
As far as the Ruckus goes, Dallas won't be hosting it this year I'm sure of that... next year maybe, we've discussed it a little bit. Where it should be doesn't matter too much to me personally, I'd travel wherever just about. Waco would be nice because it's so close it wouldn't cost most people a fortune in gas. I think that far west and far south might be a little too much of a drive for many of us Dallas folk and the Oklahoma people too, but east would be cool... Caddo Lake is amazing, albeit a little pricey.
The financial part of when these events will take place is definetly a major consideration- if it weren't I'd just travel around and see all of yall all week long

Well, that is just typical for my schedule - those dates are booked for me (my sis-in-law is getting married in Wichita, KS....I may be driving the Indy up there - that may make it a little more bearable). How bout the weekend before or after? Let's set a date (if I can't make it that is okay). If I can make it, I will gladly start the ball rolling on finding places and things to do.

I am not President of CFOGi.. Eric Schneck is current president. Blake Moore is the current director of this region in CFOGi. I am deputy director. However, I would say that if anyone would like to step up to being anything to the Fiero community feel free to. As someone mentioned, monies are usually not balanced at the end of planning a real get together of people in large numbers.

It's that "paying" part of 'paying member' that stops me- if I've got Fiero money it's going directly to the Fiero. I realise that's a bad thing to say, but my total income last year was just under $7k... I'm just too poor to pay to be a member of anything
Anyway, every weekend in August is available to me... are we thinking August might work?

The Ruckus has historically been the first part of Oct. It is a great time for a get-together. Cool evenings, warm days. There are a great many meeting places in the WacoBryan area for a meet, cruise, etc. Heck, the Geo. Bush Library & the area wineries both are worth putting on our cruise map.
It would be wonderful if the people of that area would put on our next Red River Ruckus - Episode 4 ! The previous 3 have been a wonderful Fiero time.

I'm liking the idea of Waco for Ruckus too. I'd be willing to work on pieces of it remotely with perhaps a trip or two two to Waco before October. Sounds like a good side bar topic for Round-up.

I can only be there if we have it October 7 or 14. The 21st is Baylor Homecoming and I will be working that game (not to mention every hotel in Waco will be full). If the 7th or 14th is good for everyone I will help to plan it.
Now - I gotta go out and clean the yard from all the high winds, hail and possible tornadoes from last night. Thank goodness the Indy is always under cover....dang tree limbs are everywhere......

Now, who is going to be the lead responsible? Lodging for the nites for 13 and 14? Get-together location? Activities schedule? Cruise route? Meal times/places? T-shirts? Dash plaques? Anything else?
The hotel should be convenient to the meeting place and should be able and willing to accomodate all the Fiero people. A "wet" restaurant within walking distance is almost a requirement for obvious reasons, hehehehehe.
The NTFC group will be in attendance, for sure. Also, Waco is only a 2 hour dirve for us and I am sure many of us will be more than willing to help out with any arrangements, if possible.

I will take on the duties of Lead. I drove to Waco today and spoke to a lot of people about some possible events. I also spoke to a hotel manager that said they would be more than happy to accomodate everyone (and possibly throw in a discount). One of my clients is a T-Shirt company, so I can get the shirts taken care of. Restaurants won't be a problem. I can also talk to another client about making awards and anything else "trophy" or "memorabilia" oriented.
So, should I start planning this for October 13, 14, and 15? With the 14th being the biggest day?
I will be away from the computer until late tomorrow afternoon....and will check this thread at that time.
JCurry - I could meet you early Saturday if you want to get together and if anyone else would like to come. I've gotta be gone by 2:00 though.
EDIT : I know of 3 cruise routes we can do.

Mainly (for me at least) let's keep this affordable- food, activites, and hotel- and keep in mind what gas prices are going to be like, no super long cruises please.
I'd love to help out in any way that I can, I can make a few trips to Waco, just let me know when and what I should be working on.
I'd like to offer to design the shirts if no one else has planned on doing that, I'm pretty good with graphics if I do say so myself I can make up a few designs early this week, and maybe just send them to a few of yall to get an idea of what you want (I don't want to post them, seeing what the shirts look like is part of the fun of the event).
I've also attended a few events now, so I've got some idea of what needs to happen and the small things that you might not think about.
