Yes Cliff - I own a Fiero...and mine can make a number of cruise runs
Just thought we may have some fun if anyone wanted to do more than one.
Amber - Yes, I agree with keeping this all affordable...I will be getting some og my clients to sponsor the event and that will keep the cost of some things down - I am shooting for at least 1 free meal, and hopefully free t-shirts.
I will take anyone's help that is willing...thanks to everyone who has offered. Amber - Yes - shoot me some designs for the shirts.
Hope to talk to some of you about this soon...

Hope you don't mind me jumpin in here..... I have recently visited the NTFC meeting and spring fling. You may remember my fiero that day looked like a green chevy truck . Just a point to mention I'm involved with another car club in Waco so I go there often. Every 2nd or 3rd Saturday of the month , can't remember when, there is a car show in north Waco at the NAPA Auto Parts off I-35. I thought everyone might enjoy seeing a whole conglomeration of diff. cars there too. The last one there was about 100 cars give or take a dozen. The corvette club usually meets there as a gathering so I thought you might like it too. There is usually prizes and awards too but not to elaborate. Maybe that would be of interest to other members while they are there. Any Club or group is invited too. I'll see which Saturday they have the show and let ya'll know if you are interested.

I usaly go to the Texas Ren Fest in Oct but im not shure what weekend/s ill be thear yet. As of now I should be able to make it but I wont know for shure till a little closer.

Now, who is going to be the lead responsible? Lodging for the nites for 13 and 14? Get-together location? Activities schedule? Cruise route? Meal times/places? T-shirts? Dash plaques? Anything else?
The hotel should be convenient to the meeting place and should be able and willing to accomodate all the Fiero people. A "wet" restaurant within walking distance is almost a requirement for obvious reasons, hehehehehe.
The NTFC group will be in attendance, for sure. Also, Waco is only a 2 hour dirve for us and I am sure many of us will be more than willing to help out with any arrangements, if possible.
Well,
I am still talking with the the lodge at Texoma for this years Ruckus... and recently got a packet of Okie activities from Tom and Doug. We were actually planning on the weekend prior to the 14th...
Saying that to say, I know it is May and people want an announcement, but without commitments from the resort, I hesitate to plow forward and then renege. So dear friends, if you desire Waco... (I like Waco! we can see the captive bears, go to the DP Museum, and they have cool park down by the old Brazos bridge...) ((I'd also like to see the Davidian Compound on the cruise)) (((we can all say something positive about Janet Reno))) ((((that is going to take a long time to think of something))))... then plaese let me talk to the Okies who thought it was going to be at Texoma all along, and see if they will be too terribly upset if the Fiero world moves forward to Waco in October.
I doubt it will be a problem, it is just a courtesy thing. I am glad I popped my head in here (this thread), last rumor I read was this was going to be a May-August thing!

I am sure that this does not have to be the Ruckus - it didn't start that way. This thread was originally started to see if anyone wanted to get together in the area. It was suggested that we do so, but with some of the other events going on during the year, it was thought that maybe one more event would be hard for people to make, so it was thought that maybe the Waco area event could be the Ruckus...I had mentioned previously about it being a new event (Brazos Bash?), but it did not seem to go over.
I am sure that everyone in the Fiero community can come up with a solution.
Tim
PS - The Davidian Complex is not much to see - I was there when it burned, and I have been back a coupla times...not much there. I was thinking a drive to the Bush Ranch may be fun, and I have incorporated it into one of the Cruise Routes that I am looking at.
I'd be open for either location for Ruckus and if we went to Texoma something in Waco around August would be cool too.
Since the Okies have been big supporters of past Ruckii, I think they should have a big say - especially if they already put some time into over the border activities.
Either way I'm open to help with whatever remotely.

I agree. Among other events, the Oklahoma folks made the drive to Austin 2005 and the one to San Angelo 2004-both very long drives. I'm certainly not opposed to a Waco event, and tho it would be farly close for me to drive to Waco from East Texas, I believe the courtesy should be extended to them for a chance to have it back in their state once again.

It is things like this that we should have someone come up and say YES! I will host the next year ruckus event at the present ruckus shows.
Well Revin-- the Oklahoma people did indeed say they would be interested in hosting it in Oklahoma this year--during the Sunday morning breakfast meeting at last year's Ruckus in Austin. I believe you 'may" have been busy talking about your car and didn't hear the conversation.....

What I'd really like to see happen in 2007 and beyond... Roundup and Ruckus are pretty much set in stone for April and Oct. (Well, Roundup is a bit late this year, but things happen like that sometimes) That leaves open the winter and summer seasons. Now, the mid summer sucks in Texas, but we've all gotten used to it. I'd like to see a winter event--every year--with a set in stone time slot. Winters are fairly mild here anyway, but DFW has a possibility for ice storms in Jan Feb. Central Texas doesn't usually have much bad winter weather. If the central Texas group (Waco) would take the winter time slot--say Feb, that would be far enough after Ruckus and far enough before Roundup for people to regroup, rest, and refinance. NTFC could make their yearly event during the summer months. That would be 4 fairly evenly spaced out events each year. Ruckus would continue to be a rotating location/host, giving each area's owners a break on driving time-(and gas) year to year. (yes Revin, it will come back to Austin before you know it) If NTFC and Waco could select a permanantly designated month, I think turnout for each would increase, and each of the 4 events would compliment each other in attendance. Or maybe Waco might chose to alternate with Kerrvile every other year? CenTexIndy-I sent ya a PM.
Erm, I was planning to continue hosting the 'Spring Fling' each spring before the Roundup, I've done it the last two years already... the first time was in July but it was just too hot to convince many non-AC people to travel too far in the heat. This year we chose April because the Roundup had been post-poned, otherwise it would have been the first weekend in March. So if there is going to be a new Waco event, I would personally prefer it be during the summer- especially since it's not as much of a drive in the blistering weather as Dallas is to the southern people. I don't think it's attendance would suffer as much. That said, whatever works best for the biggest number of people is what's best.
If for this year Waco wanted to do something in August, I think that would work just fine.
See yall in Austin, then Waco, then Texoma?

August 11, 12, 13 anyone?
I will gladly organize an event for those dates. And call off the October Waco meeting?
Amber and CenTexIndy; That sure works for me. Amber, I wasn't aware The Spring Fling had grown to become an annual event, but I'll make sure I put it on my calendar every January, as the same thing I said regarding the Oklahoma people being great Fiero supporters, certainly applies to all the DFW people as well. Sorry we missed it this year. When i get moved to Cleveland Tex June 1, it will be virtually a straight shot up I-45 to Dallas for Jane & I. Shyster lives in Conroe, right off I-45 and while visiting Cleveland last month, I saw a really nice GT sitting in an open garage about 1/2 mile from my sister's home. I'll find out who it is, and get him/her involved as well. CenTexIndy-do it however you have it planned or whatever the general consensus is for this year. If you wish to take the summer slot this year or in upcoming years, I think it would be a welcome Fiero event for all Texas and neighboring fiero owners.

I can do it in August easily - but it will be HOT. I have talked to many people in the local community about some ideas and they would all LOVE for as many owners to show up for some things I am thinking of as could possibly make it. It would put Fieros in a good light and there should be some media coverage. I am going to wait until Monday to see what people say, and then I will organize something for either August or October....
I do not think that it has to be the Ruckus....would like an event here in the Heart of Texas to be it's own event...

When: June 3 (yes, still a little while off....but the Pace Car reunion and some other jobs have made it to wher I can't have this any sooner).
Time: Noon
Where: Waco, Texas ---- location to be decided in the next few days - speaking to a few restaurants - I am leaning towards Crickets in downtown - LOTS of parking (in case we have some Fieros show up). And there are other restaurants in the area that all use the same parking.
The main reason to have this is to see how many are interested in starting a new group and getting together about once a month for some fun/food/and tall tales....so I hope that a lot of local owners show up --- BUT A BIG INVITATION to all of y'all to the north, south, east, and west of Waco!
EDIT to say: Crickets has something like 150 beers on their list - you can get a checklist and keep track and try them all....

Great idea to start a Central Texas club. I do think you should announce it on a new, separate thread to get some attention, though. Three pages deep in a vaguely related topic wont get you much notice.
I would like to htink I will be there for the meeting. It would make a nice little road trip.
BTW the regularly scheduled NTFC meet is the week before (May 27). You are invited to attend this one, of course.

Who all is going up to this event from Houston. I will have just moved to Houston and would love to go to this with my Fiero. However I am hesitant to drive it alone since I dont know anyone in TX in case I do have problems. I would feel alot better if I could travel with a few other people in a caravan of some kind.

3.4 TDC SWAP COMPLETED...this is going to be a fun car
Hmm... been gone a week. I am working the weekend of June 3rd. I would also like to see more than two events a year. I say events but I mean get togethers with Fiero friends. It need not just be about "show and shine" and "cruises". Where we can get to know each other more. Outings which allow us to enjoy the beauty of our great state will always be enjoyable. Even a "stop along the way" type trip which would start in say San Antonio and end in Houston or Dallas. (What is the name of that hunt where people try to find all the things on a list?) Make it a hunt or a poker run type of thing. Those in Houston or Dallas would have to travel to San Antonio but those from San Antonio would have to travel back. Having worked the rural areas of Texas I can tell you there are many unique things to see and do in all the local "burgs" that many do not see because they are too busy getting somewhere.

Those from DFW have mentioned it being an hours drive to Waco. Not much difference in temperature I would bet. I know the summers are hot, I work them outside as well as the winters. Even in a driving rain or whatever. You deal with it and I do not mean simply put up with it. You gear for it and plan around it. People flock to the water in the summer. Shade can be fabricated on the beach and the breeze is always refreshing. A dip always cools you off. There are many great places along the rivers and lakes in our state we can camp at. Many have cabins. I would like to see them all. A summer outing should always involve water. A winter event may be harder to do, what with all the holidays so close together. For a winter get together I might suggest this be a good time for an interactive "summit" of the different local Fiero clubs.
