Whats happening with you these days? Never heard from you. Did you make it home? I finally found the tranny that I've been looking for(3.42). I should be pulling it out this week or weekend coming up. Hopefully I can get it back in with in the next couple of weeks. I decided while it's out to go ahead and do the coil-overs and corvette brakes!
I guess this thread will linger a little longer....I went by Bobby's a couple Saturdays' ago. Garth was there working on what je claimed would be 'the worlds fastest naturally aspirated V6 Fiero' and he wanted to swap the power doors off of his coupe for a manual set if anyone in Hampton/Newport News wants help.
He scratched his head over the CD, tho...

Hmmm I am gonna have to bong Garth over the head next time I am back in the USA. Been pretty busy around here. I just installed a HUGE (compaired to stock) turbo on the skyline this weekend. Still waiting on the huge by large FMIC to come in from the states. Plan is 1.4 bar of boost and praying for traction!
I think we will be heading to the USA around spring. Just have to see how things go.

The tranny(3:42) is being installed tomorrow. I did the adjustable VM and 1/2" spaced the accuators. Put coilovers with 450lbs on the rear. Started building my hood, waiting on my sailpanels and mopar six pack scoop to show up this week. Ordering the corvette 12" brackets and parts along with recessed headlights this weekend. Next week getting red leather racing seats and 4 point harnesses. Hoping to take the car next weekend to bobby to reconfiqure my motor mounts. Then some paint and it will be done for now...........
My first try at fiberglassing???.......hope it comes out well. putting the final fill on it in the next couple of days

Auctually, yes I did! Due date is Feb 28th. Hey, its cold and boring over here most of the time so......
RK Tuning says that my Skyline should produce 340BHP and its about 2,900 pounds. I'd say it'll run pretty good! Funny how I just added these parts and my buddy Pino found out and intstalled a 50hp shot (only a 50shot is what he claims... uh huh!) of N20 on his '89 Starion ESi-R. He wants nothing more to finally be able to beat me! LOL

I talked to bobby this morning and he said that garth was out of town for a couple of weeks. i had to take the car to a different shop today, the guy that was going to do the tranny can't get the car high enough (no lift). should be done friday. He also has a new zex kit that has not been installed yet i can get for 350. I hope to get the car down to bobby next weekend to get the mounts fixed up. I worked hard to get all this done before RFTH9. I want it all done for that. Mech, body, brakes, interior(partial) and paint. wish me luck!!!

Ive been working to get the body done. I got the new trans in but having problems with it. First had to change the pinouts ( thanks rockcrawl) but still having problems with it. Thinking of talking to the guy that did yours. Bobby says that he not sure he can work on my mounts for a while, aaaggguugghh. Could really screw up RFTH9. Not going to get all the stuff that I wanted to get done anyway. Runnin out of time. I'm just repainting everything red for now to get it to look halfway decent. Doen't look like I will get the Paint, Brakes or the seats and harnesses done in time.

LOL dont fall for it Jesse, I think Ken wants to get to gether to smoke your azz!
Those pics look like Mr Transmission on warrick blvd... right? Its in good hands then. Seems you have been busy, since your car is in newport news you should go see Dale at MACCO (3 minutes from Bobby's place) and have your car repainted. If you remember he painted Garths and my Fiero.

If the weather holds out this week I plan on going to the track at Dinwiddie with a friend from work. Ever since I smoked his hopped up turbo Shelby he has been after me to take the car to the track. I'll finally be able to get real ETs for the car. I think it would be great if Jesse can make it - have a little Fiero competition going on! Jesse - let me know if your car will be out of the tranny shop in time.

I think that it will be done at the tranny shop but then it has to go to Bobby and Garth to get the mounts reworked.I wish that I could make it. But probally going to be working this weekend anyway trying to finish up the house I'm building now. So that monday I can start a new one. Send me a copy of your slips. Been working hard so that I can go down to GA. for Run for the Hills. Have you looked into going down with us. I may be able to take on a room mate for the stay.

I won't be able to make the RFTH. Work has me bogged down with meetings *What a drag!* I'll scan the time slips from the track - hopefully I will be able to pull off some respectable times.

Well - I am back from VA Motorsports park. Being this was my first time at a track I had a few things to learn and I have to say my reaction time stinks. It seemed like the harder I tried the worse it got for launch time. As for the actual times - not what I was hoping for. I did 3 runs and each consecutive run was better than the previous. My last run was the best - but it also knocked me out of the bracket because the time was .05 better than the dialed in number. Here's the times for the best run:
60 Ft 2.101 330 Ft 6.174 1/8 Mile 9.568 1000 Ft 12.533 1/4 Mile 15.053
I would guess my times could be in the mid to high 14's if the car didn't cut out at the shift from 1st to 2nd. Off the line it went like a banshee on fire - revs got up to about 4600 and would cut out just before the shift. That was killing my time! I had noticed this a few months back and realized it did this the worst when the car was not at full operating temp. On the way home I got on it hard and the revs went up to 4700 and shifted fine (maybe a hint of cutting out but not enough to have killed time). I think the times would be better if the transmission shifted from 1st to 2nd around 4200 rpm. I will be playing around with it over the next couple weeks and see if I can improve the times.

I thought the Blur had a Rockcrawl chip designed for the new differential ratio?
Steve - Any thoughts? From the info I have dug up on the tranny rebuild I didn't see any mention of the chip being updated - you did ask Rockcrawl if the chip would need to come back but I didn't see a reply back.

Thats what my car was doing when we ran it after the build. I was bouncing off the rev limit on the 1-2 shift with a Rockcrawl chip. I hope that the new chip for the 3:42 won't do that. Lyle is having a problem with the wiring on my car hopefully he will fiqure it out monday. I sent him all the wire diagrams that I have on it. Jon told me to rewire the plug by the info I gave him, and it seems that that was the wrong thing to do. He will need to switch it all back to stock wiring. He's getting some other codes on the engine also. I just hope that he will get it done real soon, so that I have time to get the rest done in the next week for RFTH9. I can't miss that this year. I ran 14.8's and 14.9's with the bounce at 1-2

Yes the tranny is done and it went thursday to Bobby. He was going to try to do it today so that maybe I can pick it up tomorrow. I hope so, or I'll have to make a late night run to get it one evening this week. Yes it will be done though. I need to get it back here for a few more things before RFTH9. Keep your fingers crossed for me!!
Jesse

All credit to my son - I gave him some pics and an idea of what I wanted - he put it together in a few minutes. Would have taken me half the day! I like the little Fiero zipping across the bottom with my user name.

What, is it up to me to keep this thread up? How's it going Steve? Any new Vincents out there? You know, I got to thinking about the cutting out near the shift points, wasn't that programmed in to retard timing to soften shifts? Or not? Maybe with the tire size changed from the Caddy ratio or the shift points monkeyed with it became apparent? Would Jon Lagler know?

The chip was reprogrammed by rockcrawl for the 3.33 gears. I was never really happy with it and always thought it wasnt done right. The cut for the 1-2nd shift is NOT the rev limiter but the ECM cutting power to soften the shift. The really needs to be removed. If I had to do it again I would change the engine management and remap it myself. I think many of the 4.9 guys will learn that they should ditch the factory ECM and move to a F.A.S.T. or Haltec set-up and then the 4.9 would run.
Me, well I have been busy. I work for a Company called ATF Power Engineering. We tune and modify Ferrari's, Skyline's, Cossy's, EVO's and Scoob's. Its been fun. I have learned ALOT. Garreth has been teaching me alloy fabrication, alloy welding, porting, dyno tuning and I even got to drive his 360 Modena! We are building a new track/company car for this season. Its a R33 GTS-T type M converted to GT-R AWD w/ a 1,200bhp RB26DET. Great thing is is just looks like a plain type M! We built a 480whp RB25DET for my Skyline. That hasnt been installed yet. Baby is due in 2-3 weeks. We will call him Wyatt. England has had its ups and downs but its turning out to be a great place. I have tons of new friends and we meet up every saturday night to "play". Life is good.
Enjoy the pics of the 500bhp ford focus running a T4'ed cossy w/ RWD!

Hi Steve - Been a while! I have been busy here with the Coast Guard stuff. The blue blur is still doing great. I looked at the last post you did in Feb about shify points and all the caddy ECM soft-shift features. Do you know if this feature can be programmed out of the ECM? Last September I had e-mailed Rockcrawl a couple times and I never got back to him with some info about the 3:33 vs 3:34 differential and reluctor ring tooth count. But from what I read into your quote about the soft-shifting it may not do any good to lower the shift point speeds if the computer cuts power at the shift point between 1st and 2nd at WOT. I still think that lowering the shift point speed between 5-10 mph will make for btter 1/4 mile times because it will keep the engine in its peak torque range.
I'm getting ready to transfer so the car will not see a lot of action in the upcoming 4 years. I may be able to do some more tweaking on it whenever I am home on weekends. Is there any way you know of to be able to shift the 4T60E manually - like a manual valve body or something?
Hope all is going well with the family!
Kenny
