Here are two pics that Todd sent me of another set of slim pop-ups. I like the desidn except there is no trim ring when the light is up. The trim ring is also one of the main problems I am having on my set up, it is a very tight fit.

This used to be my car. I wanted to modify the OEM trim to fit the smaller lights, but it looked like quite a bit of work. Since they would only be up at night, I didn't feel it was worth the extra work.
I love that look. Any chance on buying a set of brackets? HIOSILVER

I really don't care about the trim ring, guys. Can some one make me a set of these ? Tell me how much ....
PS. I need them to take regular headlight bulbs - driving lights will not work around here as a substitute for actual headlights ...
I used real headlights, but I had to modify them. There was no small, high/low beam available at the time I did this. I used the low beam from a Camaro. However, I removed the single filament lamp from inside the reflector and replaced it with a 9007 dual beam lamp. Technically, they are not DOT legal because you are not allowed to change the headlights of your car. However, I used a standard headlamp reflector and lens and a headlamp bulb, so it does what it's supposed to do as far as beam spread, max lumens, etc. Plus, the Camaro lamp fixture has "DOT" printed on it, which might help deflect scrutiny.
The brackets are machined aluminum. There are three pcs. There's a top piece that is glued to the HL door and a piece that's glued to the top of the Camaro reflector. And just for good measure, there is a third piece that acts as a strap to sandwitch the reflector.
The piece that's glued to the top of the lamp has jack screws and clearance holes. The top piece has threads. You bolt the lamp to the piece that's glued to the door and use the jack screws to aim the beam.
I have a simple write-up somewhere. I'll look for it.
Great write up. It is awesome how you guys with imagination and the skills to put it to use are so willing to put these things out there. Do you have any plans to reproduce these? I would be willing to pony up for this modification. The installation I can handle but creating it from scratch would be a problem. Dont have the tools.
Would you be able to provide either a drawing with measurements I could take to a shop or could we buy the brackets from you? Worth asking. HIOSILVER
Hey, I could post my friends name and number here and everyone can call him and tell him to hurry up! If I knew it was going to be even close to this long I would have paid someone LONG ago to do the set-up.

I added some pictures.
I don't have the tools to make anything, but you can probably find a local machine shop that can. Finding someone who can cut the fixtures will be a little more difficult. You might try a carborundum wheel, but be careful you don't get the glass too hot. It will probably crack.
I'll be somewhat available for advice, but these are all the drawings I have. And since I no longer have the car, I can't even go look at it. You will have to be pretty handy to make the leap from parts to installation.
Actually there are "conversion" kits that amount to a modified headlight like you are describing. AutoZone used to have them; I think JCWhitney still does. You get a "hollowed out bulb" that mounts in place of the original. An H4 / 9003 bulb plugs in the back.

by the way, how big are the round lights you will be using ? I found an H-4 conversion kit that uses 5 and 3/4 inch round enclosures .... I've been thinking about trying those with H-4 SilverStars. Whaddya think - sound OK ?
I think the best was to use the small round sealed beams WMAC used, but those are VERY $$$$

The lights I willbe using are rectangular, not round. I think the round lone look out of place on the Fiero. The lights are factory on the 91 Grand Prix.
If things go well, I will have a final copy in hand tonight. WaHoo! I am holding my breath again.

Well ..... ok ....... I guess I can wait another day or two before I irreversibly modify my headlight buckets .... (especially if they look as good as the ones lawrence did) ...

He got the cut parts to me and I have them most of the way assembled. So far everything is fitting. I have not been able to work on the lights this weekend due to the garage situation, been out there all day finishing the sheetrock.

I understand ... sorry to hear about the garage and hope everything is working out. Look at the great arm workout you're getting with the sheetrock ( I can relate to that).

That guy on Ebay is making a kit that will go up and down. Send him a question on Ebay regarding this...maybe if there is more interest, he'll finish it sooner...

I realy want to do this right away but no one I know has one I can measure right now, oh well will just have to either find one at the parts store or ask random people with the right lights.
jmbisop, you have to do a lot of cutting up front to get them to fit. They are over 13" wide. Sorry for the poor pic quality. I bought a set before doing any measuring and all but gave up. May look into it again in the future, though.
edit they are just sitting on my new hood, original was beyond salvage after the cutting, i'll get better pics on monday if you want

I'll see if I've got any of those in stock, without measuring yeah, the 88-98 Chev truck headlights are big!
