Yea, yea, lol... I actually have gotten some stuff done. I got the boxes cut out of the rear firewall, but I think I got a little overzealous with the hammer, because now my garage smeels like a giant gas tank. I've got to figure out what I broke before I start welding the 1/4" roundbar in there and blow up my house, lol. I'm pretty sure the filler tube broke, most likely from rust, must like TroyBoy's car. I had a super good idea for my boxes. It inolves a large piece of clear acrylic with my "Subiac Fiero STi" logo that Andrew (F-I-E-R-O) designed for me, lit by neon tubes hidden inside the boxes. Now I've got to find a CNC Router to carve soem acrylic for me, and then I need it to make me some amp racks, probably of the same material. First though, I've got to measure, draw and make cardboard templates. I'll probably update sometime soon, I've got a lot of work to do, and only a few short weeks to do it. I need to be done by The 'Glen. I should have my T-Top set-up in, and a new clutch and minifolds by then too, lol.

Yea, I'm pretty much 100% positive I'll be there. I'm abotu to secure a T-Top setup, so I'll see if I can get that in there within the next few weeks as well. If I don't finish my stereo soon, I'll just put the interior back together as is, and get to work on the mechanical stuff. I need a new clutch and one or both of my manifolds is/are leaking, so I've got to replace them as well. If I do get those T-Tops, I'll try to get them in there as well. *Digs up Jscott's T-Top thread*.

yeah that fuel fill tube is located where you were cutting most likely. Good luck getting that figured out! keep us (at least me updated)
Yea, after seeing everybody else's behind-the-seat installs, I made sure to be careful about the filler tube. I know 100% that I didn't cut it, however, it is a possibility that it was only being held together by rust, and when I started pounding with the hammer, I broke it loose. No big, I've got to drop the engien sometime soon anyhow, so I'll just pull out the wheel liner and check out the damage. I'll probably replace it anyway, just to be safe.

I figured out what was leaking fuel. The two mild steel lines found right behind the tank, attached to the fuel filter were 98% rust. They were only bein held together by the gelled fuel they were coated with. Nasty, nasty stuff.
Anyhow, I got my Head-Unit mount from Maptech Enterprises the other day, and that thing is sexy. If you were considering getting one, do it. You'll thank yourself later. I quickly snapped some pics of it just a little bit ago.
Here's the mount itself:
Here it is with it's future dash-mate, my Alpine CDA-9855.
And of course I've got to store all of this junk somewhere, so here's my closet, chock full of stereo equipment and boxes.

Alright, I haven't gotten much done lately, but I'm going to order carpet sometime very soon and work on getting that in the front compartment. I'm just wanting for it to warm up a tad, so I can pressure wash it and let it dry. After that, I'm stripping everything from the front compartment, so eventually, I'll only be left with the brake and clutch master cylinders. Then I'll remove those, carpet the whole thing, and reinstall them. After that, I've got to design my plexi-glass amp-rack, and get that routed for me. Speaking of which, anydoby know anybody with a high-speed CNC router? I need to have them cut some fairly simple pieces out of either 3/8" plexi-glass or acrylic. If I don't get all or at least most of this done by the end of the month, I'm going to have to forget about it until next fall, as I've got to be completed by April 29th to be at Watkins Glen on the 30th. I doubt I'll have my subs in by then, but at least everything else will be hooked up, right? Oh well, more as work progressed.
Yay, I just ordered carpet! I ordered it from Resonation Custom Car Supply, and I got 3 yards of the charcoal TrunkMat, and I figured at 54" x 108", I should have enough to do two front compartments, lol. Anyway, just wanted to share that information, so as soon as I get that from the UPS guy, I'll get to work on the front compartment.

Lol, no...it's not dead. In fact, I'm almost done. I've got a few pictures to post, so I'll put those up in a little bit. I was just about to go out to the garage and work on it some more.

I carpeted the front spare tire tub and put my A1800DT in there...that's the big mofo powering my subs. A continuous flow of 1,800W at a stable 1ohm load. Unbelieveable. Here that is:
The tub:
Then I stuffed the amp in there, to make sure it would even fit, lol:
It fit almost perfectly, so I decided to measure for the mounting holes:
Then I flipped it over, and made sure I had clearance for the signal cables:
Again, it worked out perfectly, so I bolted it down:
Pretty cool, eh? I've got the rest of the front compartment stripped down to nothing, so I'll finish carpeting that, probably tomorrow, and I'll ge tthe drawings finalized for my amp rack. I've almost finished my highly modified overhead console as well, so I'll probably finish that tomorrow. Watch for that.

Lol, didn't do anything today...I helped my friend put his old stereo in his new car, which means I did all the work, and he stood around. Also, I'm starting my new job sometime in the very near future, so the funding to finally finish this stereo'll come back. I'll take some pictures of the overhead console and slap those up here for everybody.

Told ya I'd have pictures for ya...here's my modified overhead console:
Here's the bass boost dial mounted in the console:
I picked that location, because that's where the stock one goes. I realize the stock one is a slider, but I think this works rather well.
Now, most people hardwire their remote turn-on wires right to the head-unit, so when that turns on, so do the amps. Personally, I like having a switch. Basically, with a switch, I can turn on the amps at any time, given that the head-unit is turned on as well. This allows me to kill the amps in a residential area late at night, so I don't wake everybody up and I can still listen to my music. Basically, what I did was modify the map lights, so that they're both on the passenger side switched circuit. When the passenger side switch is activated, both map lights are turned on. This leaves me with the driver side switch open. I'm sure you can tell what I used that for. I'll be using that switch for my remote turn-on wires. Perfectly stock, and works I'm sure it'll work damn well too.
Here's the provisional wire/switch for the remote-turn on wires:
That picture's slightly blurry, only because the camera is so zoomed in. You can see a little better in the next pircture.
In this picture, it's fairly easy to see the modified light wiring, and also the modified switch/remote wire:
That's all I've got for today...maybe I'll get out there and finally carpet that damn front compartment tomorrow morning before I go in for training. I can probably do a lot of cutting and wiring tomorrow evening in that case then. I'll be able to reassemble the interior next week (I hope).
I'll leave you with this picture:
Let me know if you've got any more questions or comments.

Lol, well, as you can see in this this thread, I've finally gotten around to changing my clutch, so I can get this bad boy back on the road before summer passes me by. While I've got the engine out, I've been ordering parts like a madman, and hope to be able to reinstall everything once I finally get my engine back in...hopefully I'll be done by the end of August.
