I am camping too. Sharon will drive back to Boerne since we are only about 30 minutes away. My 11 year old Grandson wants to come, so he will camp with me. My Grandson is a Kevin fan, I just figured it was because they were close in mental years. Nothing but love Kevin . If anyone has a spare seat for the cruise I would appreciate a ride for the Grandson. He is a good cup holder and a Fiero lover at that. Warning, he will talk your head off. He loves cars and studies them a lot.
Argh, is everyone camping? I don't think I can stand full days of heat and then sleeping in a plastic bag. I guess I'l just pick a random hotel then, but I'll post where and for how much in case anyone else enjoys air conditioning and showers.

Yikes, I checked around and saw how much the hotels jack up rates for the summer. Even New Braunfels is better than 2X the winter rate.
The best dollar value looks like the cabins at Creek Hollow - air conditioning, a bed and sleeps up to 4 for $65 to $80. If you're okay with a cabin, I'd jump on one of these. As of today looks like there are four cabins open for that weekend.
I'll check around out west by 281 and see if there is something reasonable for a chain motel
How far from where we need to be are the cabins? If they are close I'll go ahead and book one this week and if two people would like to split it with Daniel and I that's an option. Are there any near by roach motels? As long as it's got AC and a real bathroom I don't care. I'll check around too.

Cabins are about 3 mile away - actually the closest available lodging.
I've been checking hotels diligently and looks like we have to go as far as the San Antonio airport area (35-40 miles) to get down into the $60 per night range. New Braunfels appears to be the epicenter for high summertime hotel prices

Blanco County Inn is $68 a night for a double room, Holiday Lodge is $110 for a double room...
Hrrm, hrrm, hrrm...
What shocked me was Motel 6 in New Braunfels - $125 a night
Blanco's a quaint little town, Check out the Blanco Bowling Cafe. Cafe in front and 6 lanes of nine pin bowling in the back. Like a trip back to the 1800's.

Hmmmm........I must just be an hour away. Can we get a physical address so we can Mapquest routes. Mike, I believe I have the seat for your grandson if he can not talk louder than the stereo. j/k I have a bunch of tubes. Not sure how many. I will round them all up, air them up, and see how many. Do we have air available ? Are we gonna shuttle to the river ? By the way, we may have one less attendee.

Make good time getting out of town and I would say an hour or less. Not too late, contact the first poster/author of the thread. Ummm..........reguarding all of the climate challenged folk. Back in the day, air conditioning was called "shade". Baths were taken in the "crick". A stove was called a "fire". There was no TV, people told stories. Bring your hormonicas, banjos, and guitars and lets camp.

Address to search on is :
187 Post Oak, Canyon Lake 78133.
Warning - this gets you within two blocks and then Mapquest tries to route you through a dead end street.
Air is available
We will have our pick-up truck available. We can throw extra tubes and people in the truck and drop off before parking the truck. We'll have to rent at least one tube to be able to get a parking place for the truck.

Daniel and I want to get a hotel, but need someone to split it with... I'm even willing to sleep on the floor if need be... if anyone's interested let me know which hotel you'd prefer (the close, expensive one or the further, cheaper one) and I'll book it. Otherwise, I'm sleeping in your bathtub Kevin.
Here are some more accomodations options. These are all private residences that are in a rental pool through a real estate company
1) Condo on East end of Canyon Lake (has bedding for six @ $225 per night). This is owned by friends of ours and it has a world class view of the lake. Three levels -master bedroom and full bath on bottom level -living room, kitchen and half bath on middle level - futon that sleeps two -loft with two twin beds on third level
2) 2 bedroom, 2 bath Condo on North side of Canyon Lake (has bedding for 4 @ $165 per night)
3) 4 bedroom, 3 bath house on north side of Canyon Lake (has bedding for 22 @$500 per night)
If any of these are of interest speak up and I'll put you in contact with the real estate company
But let me reiterate I think that the best bang for the buck are the cabins at Creek Hollow RV park (a little rustic but sleep 3-4 for $65-$80 a night - a real bed and A/C).

You would be amazed how a little dip into some water or just a good old hose down can cool you. Sounds like lots of options........so be there! There will be fun for everyone.
Thanks Cliffw, my Grandson will be very happy. I will instruct him not to talk so loud.........pre-teen, right, I am sure he will snap two. He will make you a great cup holder.

I went on the cruise route with Scott Anderson yesterday, (Sunday). Man-O-Man, it was a blast of twisted back road mixed with cattle crossings and one lane rural river crossings. We stopped at Pappa Docks and gave the taste test to the menu and it was very good. The prices were very good as was the mix of meals to pick from.
The camp area at the Anderson Ranch is ready for a little prep work but will be ready for FIEROSTOCK. In door plumbing, shower and everything. Bring your own towels and soap. The Club House offers pleanty of Fiero parking and a swimming pool as well. Wash a little, swim a little, great way to cool down.
Hope to see all you there.

Sounds like fun. I`m going to try to make it. I will probably be camping and hopefully it won`t be too hot, but you never know. You know how it is here. Like during Christmas we never know if it will be 80 degrees or 30 degrees.

Oh BTW like someone on here said about being the youngest. I`m the opposite in that I may be the oldest at 49 but that`s ok I have the mind of an 18 year old. Hmmm, Maybe that`s why I`m divorced.
