I keep hearing about the "big dogs" and I`m starting to wonder what kind of mechanical wonders I`m going to see that weekend. When you accuse a 3800SC of maybe being a little afraid I don`t what I`m expecting to see. Maybe a supercharged 350 or is this all in good fun to keep Revin on his toes. I`m looking forward to meeting all of you. Mike

I'll bring my 1 ton dually crewcab with the 10,000 GVWR Camper Suspension with me, is that dog big enough? I 'kin throw a couple tons of concrete or rock in the back, Revin, you give me a 10 second head start and then see if you 'kin get past me, hehehe....
The ol' 454 and TH-400 may not be the fastest thing around, but crushing power can more than make up for speed

MSTANGSBWARE I believe in having a few essential parts with you when traveling in a 20 year old car and especially tools, but on the other hand considering MSD is used in everything from Nascar to NHRA I feel pretty confident in their product. I know you can buy brand new defective parts but then how long do you rely on older parts not knowing their age? Mike
Cant say I didnt warn you and I will be sure to tell you I told you so. Just kiddin, like Amber said, it has happen before.

Well now you guys got me wondering but I was under the impression that your control module fed your coil and the high voltage goes directly into your rotor which goes directly into the plug wires. I may be wrong but I really thought that`s how it works.

Well, I`m going to answer my own question. I`m wrong and I admit I don`t know a whole lot about electronic ignitions. After what you guys said and after I did a little research it looks like it`s not a real good idea to put a high output coil with stock ignition parts so I`ll be reinstalling my old coil and using the new one as a back-up until I get another appropriate coil. I am going to buy a coil that`s maybe suited to high temps as opposed to anything else. Thanks for your wisdom and please don`t gloat. Mike

The ignition module takes the place of the points in a completely mechanical system. The coil is basically a transformer. The ignition module pulses the current flow through the primary side (low voltage) of the coil. The secondary (high voltage) side of the coil goes back to the distributor cap where the rotor directs the high voltage pulses to the right plug. If a fault developed in the coil it seems plausible that it could overtax the ignition module.

Heh, actually I think my 3.4TDC makes me a 'medium dog', but I'm not too worried about keeping up. And unopinionated cupholders are on sale at Walmart for $3.50, if that'll help your argument any
I think everyone coming down in our group plans on tubing (except maybe James?) also. How big are the tubes you can rent, do you think they have kid sized ones or something? I don't want to spend the whole time trying to not fall out.
If it makes you feel any better Mike, I had no idea why the coil might cause a problem... I just knew it had happened before.

Michael and I are camping, and we will need to rent a couple of tubes. We will be there as quick as we can on Saturday!
Folks,
Renting tubes on the river is no problem. There 4 or 5 outfitters very close together where we'll put in.
Bringing your own tube and then trying to find a place to park is a problem because all the parking is controlled by the tubing rental outfitters and everything else is posted CliffW is going to bring some of his own tubes and I plan to take him down there in our truck, drop him off and then park the truck at a tube rental place and rent some tubes. If we have 20 or more that rent from the same place, they will discount it $12 instead of $14. So please don't rent tubes from outside the area. Just bring $12 per person.

Sanderson, you should PM me as it looks like there's no telling when or if I will get an email.

I'll PM when I get home tonight. Most critical thing I need is what size tee shirt?

Medium!
I called Internet America support this afternoon, they basically blew me off. I did get them to suggest that you send a copy of the bounce message you're getting to them at support@airmail.net but he admitted that the same person reads that as reads the abuse@airmail.net address, and that it only gets 100 messages a day. Well, I knew personally the person that used to run the abuse dept at IA until she was laid off last year and they routinely got thousands of messages a day, so I hold no hope that any message you send would ever get read.
Sigh...
At least they finally credited the remaining $282 of the unauthorized $448 charge they made to my card back in February.

Jazzman.,
I have sent it twice and I am not getting any bounce message. PM on the way.
The joke would be that Astroworld doesn't exist anymore...
it was flattened to make way for additional urban sprawl...
It's official that I won't be at Round-up IX.V
My original reason is that all three of my driveable Fieros are out of commission, and the second reason is that I will be out of town that weekend. But I hope to see all you Texans again real soon.

two weeks ago I had two driveable Fieros, My GT alternator went to alternator heaven and I haven't had time to mess with it. My paint looks great it just won't stick to the car because it wasn't primed properly. So it's back to the paint shop...this time shouldn't take 8 months... [cross fingers]

If the indy doesn't get on the road soon I'm going to send it to Fiero Heaven.... [/just kidding]
Scott I was just scrolling through the past pages and I just now saw the flyer that Heidi made and it looks great. Have you posted it up around the lake yet? Mike
I guess I`m a bit out of touch because I noticed the flyer was posted about a month ago.

Add one more to the list. I will be making it up more than likely. If I can hitch a ride with either of the Valley Boys, Daniel or Jason, I will do so if not I'll have to drive up in my S-10 ZR2 (Yeah baby 18 MPG highway). My V8 Formula will be MIA unfortunately, since it will begin undergoing surgery again, to finally get rid of balance problem I have with the ZZ4 and the counterbalanced centerforce flywheel. I guess I got a dud ZZ4, pretty sad actually, but it will be resurected by August hopefully. If anyone knows of a shop that has one of those computerized balancers that can balance the crank with the harmonic damper and flywheel on it (or does engine balancing in general), please let me know. I need to find a shop that can make sure the engine spins like silk before I heave it back into the Fiero.
Thanks,

Just a bump to get this Thread back to the top--Makeing a few changes to my 88 Coupe this weekend--Counting down the days till the weekend of the show!!!!

Sounds like we are going to have a blast. I regret John, Jon, Don, Jane & Chuck will not be there. They and their cup holders, (Galia & Jon's son), will be missed. Never know whom Chuck will show up with. If I missed someone I apologize, you too will be missed.
Please let me say from the AAFO that we appreciate all of you and your efforts to attend each year. We appreciate the friendships that have been built over the years and the opportunity to meet new people. A lot of joking goes around in this post and it is because of those friendships that have developed.
Last, I would personally like to thank Scott and Ellen Anderson for taking over on this event and making it happen. Right when it looked like we were not going to have a Round-Up, they stepped in and sponsored this ROUND-UP IX. V, aka FIEROSTOCK.
It is going to be a lot of fun. The Anderson’s have gone out of there way to insure that this will be a memorial event. The camping alone is a first and tubing the Guadalupe is a great time.
Looking forward to seeing all my Fiero friends and Kevin.

I've got it up several places around the lake and been chatting it up whenever we're up there.
P.S. Mike I've got an electrical connector for the A/C clutch from an old harness that you can have.

Thanks,
Carlos, Send me an e-mail at sanderson@grandecom.net and I'll reply with all the info. So far I have not heard from either Jason or Daniel.
I'll check with the rotating equipment types at work about places to get a rotating assembly spin balanced.

Michael and I were just curious which tubing length we are doing? Are we going on the 2 or 4 hour one?
Michael's concert at Baylor starts at 9:00am on Saturday morning, so as soon as it is done we are heading down there...(I REALLY hope we make it in time for the cruise...we should, but...well...)
