I'm excited! Have a scoop to work and an axle to replace but I'm ready. Oh yeah and two cars to wash/detail. Can't wait to float down a river and relax, haven't had a weekend off since the Ruckus. No A/C for me, wouldn't want to take away from what little HP I have. Ok now thinking about it I can't wait till friday.
Spent all day out at Procarnut's shop with the diagnostic machines... is my car a super machine now? Not so much, but at least we found the rusted, bent sparkplugs and got those replaced. Ah well, let me get on a pound of wax and a Bonneville logo and we'll be set.
I'm very excited, and nervous, but more excited
So how's the weather for the weekend looking?

I`m ready for Fri as well. I`m going to take a leisure drive from Austin Friday afternoon. I have got to get me a 4T60 because I don`t especially like cruising at 70 mph with the engine running at 3000 rpm. I need that extra gear. Weather so far looks good for this weekend. Partly cloudy Saturday and mostly sunny Sunday. A high of 94.

I'm excited...just not for Friday, but rather Saturday...
I too am looking forward to a nice float down the river...need a break...but that has me thinking...is the water still high enough to get a decent trip out of it? I know that all the rivers around here are nice and low.
I'm actually getting excited about this trip too. I had to forego my annual trip to The Swap Meet and a couple of other events because of gas prices, but was able to hitch a ride for this one. It'll be my first real trip out of town in a long time.
Since I'm bringing my column tool kit maybe I can make some money to help defray my costs, that'll be a bonus too.
cliffw update ! Time, money, and priority restraints have left my 87 GT unfinished. Gee, alot of Fieros are not ready. I insured, tagged, and inspected my 88GT T top for the rally. I have never road trip tested this Fiero. I suspect cold start injector problems. I will be giving it some driving time before Friday. The 87 GT may have to go unfinished (paint....lack of confidence in a paid job and my abilities). I can slap it back together.

My tubes were deflated too long and have varying degrees of dry rot. Not sure how many are good, working on that today. One, two, five, or how ever many, they will be available on a drawing/raffle type basis, pit prizes if you will. DARKWING, PM me your phone number, and address (MapQuest). I will call you so we can meet up for the drive. I would still be glad to let your Grandson navigate and hold my cup. I am not sure what time you plan to leave. One concern though. I have a budding Fiero enthusiast who would like to "attend". Of course he can not do the whole rally but I would like for him to see the show and shine, do the cruise (in my Fiero), and the river float. I have alot to do and I do need to go to Victoria Friday morning. I hope to be back by noon.

Hmmm.......interesting question. The water level, or flow (cubic feet a minute I believe) is governed by the Army Corps of Engineers. Governed by water release through the damn at Canyon Lake.
Hrrm, I'll stop the Corps of Engineer people tonight when they go home (I work at a CE reservoir) and ask them to make sure the river down there is full enough for us I believe on their website it lists the current lake and surrounding water way levels, however, I don't know what level is acceptable.
It is a good question though...

There's plenty of water in the river to float it just isn't moving very fast.
We were up there a couple of weeks ago and there were plenty of people on the river
They're currently letting water out of the lake into the river at 114 cubic feet second but water is flowing into the lake at about 150 cfs. They try to maintain the lake around 909' elevation. It's now at 906' and rising. There's a chance that it'll get to 909' by the weekend in which case they may turn the flow up a little. The area got about an inch and a half of rain last week.

So is the issue fixed now with the 4500 RPM stutter? I am ready for Friday to get here myself and think my car is even more ready. It has been getting neglected since I have been working on it to get it ready. Cant wait to get the show on the road.
No, it's not fixed... apparently it's haunted. What is it with me and haunted red Fieros? Nothing showed up, he couldn't find anything, we're going to take it back out and try again after the Roundup. Everyone is pretty much out of ideas at this point. We know it is not ignition or fuel related though (unless it's sneaky and hid from the testers).
Ah well, it's running pretty good, looking pretty good... and that'll be good enough.
I can't wait to see your new and improved Turbo

Yeah, his car had a turbo when he bought it... or at least the stickers on the sides said that it did, and no one would ever put on a sticker for something they don't have
Just a dumb joke.
Tomorrow! We're heading out tomorrow!

I sure want to go, it's the only time I get to see other Fieros. I sure wish my car was ready. Confession: I even went out to look at buying another Fiero just to make it! It ran (barely), had A/C, and was kinda rare ( Blue '87 SE ). The only thing that stopped me was the missing parts, crappy re-paint, and the silicone around the sunroof! lol! Whatever you guys do, post pics the first chance you get. I want to see what I missed! Have Fun! Be safe!

Well at least its running good an looks good. Still have to wipe down my interior and wash the car and detail to a point the engine bay. I think everyone will like what I did with Ol Turbo. I didnt realize it looked that good till the other day when I walked out of the store and saw it from a distance. Will be ready to go tomorrow.
I see. Not funny, I got excited. I also have no idea how to get to Amber's house or how long it will take. So please PM or post your phone # and/or address so I can get my self together and get there on time. That includes my car which is in a few pieces on jack stands as I waste time typing. My phone # is 817-253-5720 if that will make things easier. Thanks and hope to hear from you soon.
I'm all set, little bit of throw'n clothes in a bag but that's it. I like "ol' turbo" just because ol' supercharged just doesn't sound as good. Hope everyone has a safe trip.

Can someone that is going PM me or call me at 254.223.3431? My son and I will not be heading down until Saturday late morning...and I am not real good with directions...I have some, but I would love to have a number of someone I can call if (or as my son says "when") I get lost in the Canyon Lake area looking for the clubhouse.
Sorry Nathan, forgot you'd only been here once before... Mapquest- 1229 Straus Rd. Cedar Hill, 75104. I'd say it'll take you 45 minutes or so to get here.
Well--its Friday and I still need to do a few things but its the things I hate to do. Like clean the interior, wash the car, all the not fun stuff. But will be heading out about 1 or so heading to Cedar Hill. Will give Daniel a call before I head that way. I want to look at that car since I will be in the area.
I should stick around and pick my wife up from the hospital before I leave. No joke but not to worry. I am sure even God is praying for her. My 87GT did not get done. Gonna have to final prep the 88. Still need to finish my jig saw puzzle, pick the dog up from doggy jail, round up my Acme camping gear, work on my Jeep, build a fence, paint the house. When my wife regains consciousness I am sure I will have some "honey doos". I might be running a little late.....ummm....early morning.
What, no one else make it home yet? The NTFCer's have landed, albeit with a casualty... I'll let Nathan tell his own story
Had a great time, too tired to think of much more to say at the moment but I'll post some pictures tomorrow. Huge thank you to Scott, Ellen, and everyone else who had a hand in the event.
Now, if I can just sleep off the roasting I got while tubing...

heh....Karma. Here I was joshing Revin. Ended up tow dollying mine home. It was great meeting everyone. Especially the north Texas bunch and a central Texas Indy owner. Look forward to meeting again, my 88 has some proving it can make a trip to do.
Sorry I had to miss the tubing but my radiator fan stopped working and I wanted to drive back in the morning as it was cooler and also to beat any traffic in Austin. It was good to meet everyone and I am looking forward to whatever the next event might be. I was especially impressed with you young guys who have done your own engine swaps. You must have really done your homework. Mike
