Nice pics Mike (ohioindy). I had a great time meeting everyone and taking in the event. I left Saturday around 4:00 PM, but I had a great time. I wish I could have stayed for the lap of the track, but I needed to get back home. It was nice meeting everyone and putting a face with the screen name!
Here are a few teaser pics of mine. I'll try to get more up tomorrow.
WOW!! Thanks for the pics guys. Looks like to me there were more Fiero pace cars in attendance than any other year. How many Fieros were there, looks like about 8?
I counted 9 Fiero Pace Cars on Saturday. The 72 Hurst Olds guys had quite a few cars as well, maybe 8 - 10. Us and Them had the most of any one year pace car. The Corvette most likely had the most of any one "type" of car, but not any one year.
Not only did the fiero have the best attendance but led the track lap I was the guy at the end of the fiero line. I had a great time and would recommend, if you own an Indy, to attend next years event!
I do have a picture of the badge. It was not easy getting a good shot. Here is the best I got.
eidt to add: RareW66 & Paced84 spoke with the lady in charge of the event at the dinner reception. She said that she was not sure about doing another of these events.

Guys; 12 Indy Fieros were in attendance. There were more Corvettes and Olds, but for one year there were more Indys. Will post some photos Tue. Every one home and safe. Ellen Bireley said they will look over the entire event to see if it will be done again. the pace lap being one thing that would be looked at to see if the rules given were followed. Hope this happens again. it was a great time , and weather was great. great to see the person behind there User name!! Ron 1984 Indy (full strobes lighting as original Indy)

WOW!!, I had a great time at this event. It was very nice meeting some of the Forum members. As usual, the Fiero guys had some good times together.
The highlight of my weekend was the personal time that I had with Indy Fiero #1. Friday I got to start it just to hear the sweet sound of the SD-4. Sunday morning, I cleaned it up so that it was the cleanest car in the line of IMS pace cars. I feel like I took multiple years of dirt off the car. The car had just recently been repaired for fuel system deterioration. I polished fresh bugs off of the nose, so the car had some track time on Wednesday before we got there. Then, I was lucky enough to take #1 Indy Fiero for one lap on the track during the Sunday pace lap. The car ran very well when I could drive it like it was intended to be driven. Otherwise, the car has a heavy clutch, not to smooth in the shifting due to the straight cut gears, instant throttle response with a rough unpredictable idle. Stop and go driving in traffic was somewhat difficult with three pedals and two feet. But I did get one full throttle run to 30mph on the back stretch. So, now I have been lucky enough to drive both Indy Fiero #1 and #2. Some Pics:

The Prototype Indy Fiero was in the basement of the Hall of Fame Museum. They had to push it out to allow room for the catering vans to back in for our reception on Friday night. They were supposed to pull it up to the line of cars on Friday, but for some reason it never happened.
The Prototype car looked lonely all by itself:

Picture of Rick Mears, Janet Guthrie, and Johnny Rutherford at the Breakfst at the Brickyard. Rick Mears left immediately after he spoke, so I did not get the chance to talk to him. I did get autographs from Janet Guthrie and Johnny Rutherford.
Could'nt resist the opportunity. One of my favorite pace cars:

To top off the weekend, I had the opportunity to have a short chat with Danica Patrick and Buddy Rice in front of their garages. I did not have my camera with, but sure did get the autographs. In the three days I also got autographs from AJ Foyt, Micheal Andretti, Marco Andretti, Sam Hornish Jr.(10 minutes after he made the pole) Dario Franchetti, Tony Kanaan, Lynn St.James, Janet Guthrie, and Johnny Rutherford.

If anyone was worried that my Indy couldn't make the 2100 mile DRIVEN (not trailered) trip - rest assured, we all made it back in one piece and still running smooth.
Had a blast up there, although I have a TON of complaints about the condition of some of the highways we took...there were pot-holes big enough to swallow the Indy in many areas, but that is a complaint thread for a later time....
Thanks to everyone for making my son and I feel very welcome at the event,
Tim
