As anyone who saw "Stay Alive" in the theater noticed the crack in my dash appeared 10 feet wide on the big screen. It's not so noticeable in the DVD but in person it's still there. I haven't had time to re-glass the dash cover.

I didn't realize this was a judged event, what are the classes? Not that I'm competing, just curious.

Ps - I own page 12!!

When they were delived from the factory the V6 had bigger radiators than the 4 cyl. And the autos had the transmission coolers and the manual did not. If you order one today they are all V6 auto.

I could have owned page 12 but I gave Jon a chance

I think there is only a small "people's choice" at the movies. I could be wrong...

There will be a few judges there from some of our sponsors (keeping fingers crossed that they remeber this). The judging will take place at the Hall of Fame on Saturday afternoon. This is all for fun!

People's Choice will be voted on by the customers that come to the Drive-In and the award will be presented at the break between movies.

Awards at the Hall of Fame will be Best Original, Best Modified, and Sports Hall of Fame Favorite.

One other award will be given...but the "category" has yet to be decided.

This is all for fun, and the people I have asked to be "judges" all know about cars, and I know of a few that have borrowed my Fiero books to take a look at them, and some have been "browsing" through PFF at the cars and pics to get an idea of what is out there.

Thanks for the clarification. Despite being a movie star my GT is no show winner. I'm in it just for the fun of it.

YEAH!!!!!!!!!!

I am stressing to Jay (the curator of the Hall) that the Hall of Fame Favorite does NOT have to be "perfect"...take a look at the ones that are having work done to them and see the potential of where it can go.

I have both and they look the same. Double core. I might have one for Scott. Not that I have room to haul it along. I am now curious.
Actually Scott, I needed a radiator and bought one. New is better than twenty years old. $117.00 I think. Delivered.

ALERT
My twenty year old "spare tire" blew up in it's storage bay over the summer. Check your spares.
Is the 4 cyl spare the same as the 6 cyl spare ? The 4 cyl did have 14 inch tires and the 6 cyl 15 inch.

The factory original 4 cylinder radiators were single core. If you have a double core it's probably been changed out at some point in it's life or it was ordered from the factory with a "heavy duty" cooling system.

I decided to get 2 cars to replace it - one a reliable 4-door daily driver and the other a project car. I found a '94 SHO with only 64k miles on it in really good condition for my daily driver. And I bought a '87 Fiero GT off of eBay for my project. The Fiero was supposed to be a "drive it anywhere" car which is what I was looking for. Iwanted a car that drivable when I got it. Sadly, the car did not live up to its billing (https://www.fiero.nl/forum/Forum1/HTML/060802.html). I was discourage with the car (and may still sell it), so it just sat in my driveway since it arrived in late July. I had been following the Rukus thread and decided to spend last weekend seeing if I could make the car drivable. The Rukus was just what I needed to get me motivated to do something productive last weekend.

- I replaced the battery. It was totally dead and wouldn't hold a charge.
- I installed a thermostat. There wasn't one in the car.
- I replaced several blown fuses. I now have functional lights and a radio.
- I worked on the hood release switch. It was getting stuck open so that the hood wouldn't catch.
- I added some brake fluid and messed around with the parking brake some. The brakes still need a good bleeding.
- I tried to get the radiator fan working right. It might just be a bad relay. Right now, it's wired so that it will come on if I turn the headlights on.
- I removed the goofy and badly faded dashboard pad to discover a dash in good condition.
- I started a very log list of things that need to be done to the car before I can start any fun modifications.
- I gave it a quick wash. It's not properly detailed for a car show, but I'm bringing it anyway. I hope it makes it. I drove it to work today (30 miles each way) as trial run.

This is more of just a little get-together than a show....

Look forward to seeing you there! You will be able to get lots of good advice from the people there (not me...I know how to drive 'em, but not work on 'em).

Don't worry about the looks of the car...come for fun and let's see how many Fieros we can get in one place...that alone will attract some of the Wacoans and maybe bring 'em over to take a look at what we know are fun cars!

Don`t worry that your car is not perfect avistetto. The important part is bringing your car and having a good time. There will be cars there in all sorts of progressions from show quality to needing body work. I was hesitant about bringing my car with my recently modded deck lid because of my shortcomings as a beginning customizer I fell a little short on properly preparing the bodywork before painting but then I remember what a great group of people I would be around and how they have the insight to see what is trying to be accomplished. So, come along and have fun.

You can use a 4 cylinder radiator instead of a V-6 one but expect the temps to run 6-10* higher. I ran a 4 cylinder radiator in my first 3800SC car for about 6 months and the temps never got up past the 20* mark. I thought that was to hot so I swapped it out with a V-6 one and the temps only dropped about 8* overall. The biggest heat killer was once I added the black rubber damn back under the front of the car, the temps dropped almost 12* just from this. I was really suprized that the rubber air dam made that much differance.

OK -- well...

We just got word that we may have a shoot Friday for the Gaylord Texan in Grapevine. The shoot should be during the day, but if I am late, Wendy will be playing host at George's until I get there (she's cuter and nicer than me anyway...so this is not a bad thing). Nothing changes, except maybe my ulgy face won't be there when y'all first arrive.

I really like looking at the un-finished or work in progress cars myself. I can give ideas or even steal some ideas

plus letting you see a finished car helps in finding things you did not know about.

Like when I got my car it was burnt up. I knew nothing about Fieros. so I had a "gathering" one cold day in March. Boy did I learn alot of what is suppose to be there and what I did not have ( burnt up in the fire).

It is also fun to see the progress you have made since the last time we saw your car!!

EVEN if you had a chop top done and leave it with santa for paint, it is nice to THINK about seeing the car once every two years

Was just called by Jay Black (Hall of Fame). The show will be mentioned the rest of the week on the local sports talk show and one of the Board of Directors will be the Judge for the Hall of Fame Favorite award.

Jay also said that all the show participants can get in and tour the Museum for free...it was originally going to be 1 Free Pass only...so those of you who are bringing spouses or kids can now ALL get in free. Be sure to say "Thanks" to the Hall of Fame judge for allowing us to use their parking lot and for all the hospitality that they have and will show us!

Yeah, like I'm wondering if that 3800SC car of yours is still in the gray primer...or is that the actual paint?

Think of all the wear and tear I'm saving on by not driving my chop top...nothing like having a car you have only driven a handful of times in two years.

Call me @ XXX-XXXX

Thanks, but I'm just going to be there on Saturday. I plan on leaving Liberty Hill around 10:00am. Becky will be following me in another car just in case something bad happens to the Fiero (which it turns out left a large pool of coolant in the parking garage after I left it today - I thought everything was okay). We'll probably leave the drive-in after the first movie to head home.

BTW, according to the drive-in website (http://www.drive-ins.com/showing/txtlast), School for Scoundrels will be the second movie Saturday night.

Guess Gene couldn't get any of the movies we requested.

Since I'm moving again shortly I've got a few small items that I need to get rid of. If anyone is interested, I'll bring them with me to the show with me. ---FREE--- They are:

1 factory sub woofer box and amp. Don't know the operating condition. Came out of 86 SE (may have the overhead control panel also)
2 drivers side notchback SE quarter windows and frames.. 1 is 84 Glass, arrow head is faded. (just noticed as I wiped the dust off that there is a spot of fade/delam on the glass) 1 86 plastic. Both panels are in good condition otherwise.
1 84 4- speed shifter and both cables
1 manual control driver's side mirror.

I've got more, but the Fiero can only hold so much. Let me know and I'll only bring what someone's interested in.

Dave

I'm interested in your sub-woofer box and amp. Don't worry if you can't find the overhead slider...it's just a 10K ohm resistor.

Ofcoarse I'll give you a ride.. We have somewhat twin cars. I still have a few things to work out but it looks like I may be over the hump now. I havn't driven it beyond 1st gear yet but it didn't take long to get up to 45mph. I was suprised the torqe it had since I tuned it for high RPM power. I can't wait to get it on the hwy. For now I'm tired and i need to get home. Nikki may be ready to kill me. She still doesn't know about the wheels and tires yet and tomarrow she will find out. So If you don't hear from me again you know she probably killed me anyway.

Does any one have a left rear molding between the door handle and the rear wheel opening? I need a round one for mine.
Will be willing to trade for it.

Thanks

Thanks! I know you are unloading but are there any small items that you need? I might have something laying around here.

Anyone have a front licence plate braket for a GT? Never could get one in the Mall section. I'm tired of have my plate on the dash and don't need to get stopped this weekend.

Becky will be following me in another car just in case something bad happens to the Fiero (which it turns out left a large pool of coolant in the parking garage after I left it today - I thought everything was okay). We'll probably leave the drive-in after the first movie to head home.

My overheating woes continue. The car overheated after 10 miles stop and go traffic on the way home from work. It looks like my fan just doesn't want to work at all. After letting it cool, I refilled the collant and drove 20 more miles with only a couple of red light stops and it stayed cool.

Does anyone have a radiator fan for an '87 GT, and possibly the relay switch as well?

Ask Blake about this one...you WILL get pulled over eventually.

They are still available new from the Fiero Store.

Thought someone going to the Ruckus could bring one along. I should have ordered one but it's too late now.

I don't remember any interior parts other than a couple of arm rests and some overhead light consoles. I'm still sorting stuff out.
