I'm still uncertain, so put me down as a definate maybe. Not sure if I would come in the '87 GT or the new '88 GT. Whichever one I can get fixed up the quickest.
I really want to come, and am planning for it, but my job and kids sometimes get in the way of my plans. School starts next week, so I should get some idea on my kid's schedules. And I know I will be going to China for a couple weeks for a project kickoff, but that should be in September. I just need to wait a few weeks to see what else transpires.
Some Hotel information if anyone wants it for Friday night (still working on camping at Lake Waco if anyone prefers that).
Best Western Old Main Lodge $78.00 call 254-753-0316
Best Western Waco Mall $69.95 call 254-776-3194
Comfort Suites $109.95 call 254-537-0413
Econolodge $69.00 call 254-537-0413
Hilton Waco $119.00 call 800-234-5244
Hotel Waco $79.00 call 254-753-0261
Residence Inn $99.99 call 254-714-1386
Super 8 Motel $54.88 254-754-1023
All of these hotels are aware of the Red River Ruckus - the Waco Chamber of Commerce called the hotels for me to arrange a "special" rate for those that want to stay...but the Chamber also said that it may be better to find a rate on-line.
Hope this helps some of y'all.

CenTex, please zero in on a "central" motel/hotel for all of the attendees. It is much nicer to have everyone in the same place at the same time. PARTY TIME!
Get some reasonably priced hotel to set aside about 20 rooms, plenty of parking, near a reasonable restaurant (walking distance) and let us know where to be to start to the Ruckus.

My Mom had a stroke last week. She is out of the hospital and doing very well. She suffered no lasting damage. I put in for a transfer for a rig close to Corpus. I am also looking at other companies with rigs in Corpus. I may end up with another schedule but will let them know of a "previous existing commitment". If all goes well, I'll bring my 87 GT.

you know Cliff...I am think really hard about having a shirt made specially for you that will be covered in pockets
- will work more on the hotels early next week - this week is slammed for me at work, so if I don't post any new info until the middle of next week, please don't panic, things are still being worked on.
Cheaper is better on the hotel as far as I'm concerned... especially because I already feel a little silly getting a hotel when I'm only an hour from my house I'll do a little research on Expedia after the NTFC movie tonight... maybe I can pick the cheapest place (near alcohol of course) and then you can talk to them to get us a block of rooms?
As of right now I plan on coming down in my 86 coupe for the day on Sat and back home Sat evening. Trying get my wife to come along also. Hopefully my company won't schedule a Sat workday that weekend.

I would wear it.......more than I would one without pockets. That might be a little expensive. I'll settle for two breast pockets. Geeezz, I just went and looked at all my dress shirts. They all have pockets, some two breast pockets. For some people, a t-shirt is a dress shirt. For me it is on many occasions.

I keep my t-shirts in a drawer but "closet full" fits. As someone else said later, "

Stephen, you are picky. You have a 3800SC. Nothing wrong with being picky with formal wear. I would like to add that t-shirts could be antiques. What would an original Woodstock t-shirt go for on E-bay ? $$$$$$$$$$ plus a little more. I am a smoker. I am not looking for a place to keep my cigarettes. I can not smoke at work due to explosive conditions. That is where I wear my pocketless t-shirts. To get rid of them, and I cuss all the time about my pen poking me in the neck (clipped to my neck band) among other things. Tim, you are doing a good job with this rally. Thank you. To all.......I have some really pretty, curvy, Hill Country roads for which the Fiero was made for.

COOL ! I bought a "Fisherman's" vest from Bannana Republic that has something like thirty two pockets. Some pockets over pockets. The "Camera Mans" vest did not have enough.

I'm down with making it to this one. Not sure what car to bring, I have a good running GT and a semi completed '88 coupe that should be ready by then. Hey Steve bring an extra jack if you have one,$$$ for my GT.
Hey, It's been awhile since I've been on here (got married!) and found this thread and just skipped to the end. I live in Waco and can be there (finally!) if the wife doesn't have anything else going on. I'll go back and read the rest now. Hmmm maybe I can get my wife to drive the coupe and we could have both there.

this is my plan also, to drive down on saturday morning and back home on saturday evening, except i'll be in an '88 coupe (either the T-top or 3.4 TDC).
Blake, Stephen, Kevin... y'all planning on staying both nights or just one or the other? Despite the distance, I was planning on calling this vacation rather than a day trip, assuming I'm not the only one.
Will research prices soon.

It is about 100 miles to Waco from my place, 85 from yours, 90 from Kevins... that is a 1.5 hour commute each direction. I would not enjoy driving back after a late night of carousing (good word that, it has the word 'car' in it...) ((and on further inspection, the word 'arouse'...)) at the Drive-In, then be required to get up early Saturday just to retrace my steps. NO THANK YOU.
Then, let's look at this financially. 100 miles = 5 gallons of gas. @ $3.00/per gallon, that is $15.00 1 way, or $30 round trip. I figure all 12 NTFC'ers will split one room, so that would only be like 5 bucks a piece! MUCH more affordable.
There have got to be some cheaper prices out there: hotels.com, orbitz, travelocity, hotwire, expedia, priceline... Tim, what do you think of that Delta Inn? It is easy to get to and lot's of stuff nearby (If I remember right...) You think they would work with room rates on a non football weekend?
Also, have you thought of a name for this Ruckus? Or want ideas? I submit:
Dr.uckus (for the DP museum) BeaRuckus (obvious) R U WACO K U S
Wierdo's Against Coming Out Ruckus.

Well being the trip just to the Dallas area is over an hour, wouldnt make much since for me to drive there and back and there and back for the show. I figured it would be another weekend show and would be staying there somewhere and venturing back Sunday. Blake since you are deciding to make this show and not moving into a new house, you can plan the trip back with some side stops. Maybe a few flower shops or giant rocks?

There are several FM roads around that are a nice drive. You just have to watch out for the occasional farmer in either his truck or tractor. I have to replace my starter on my GT but hopefully it will be ready in time. I'd say count me and my wife in. She's been wanting me to take her to the drive in since she moved over here.

I'll be there with a purple '87 GT ... IF I have it road worthy (and street legal) by then ... and IF I decide not to just scrap the project, cut my losses and sell it.
come either way! I am real sure one of us can help fix your car..what is wrong with it?
The first problem that I need to tackle on it is the over heating. Honestly, I haven't had (or made) time to really look at it yet. It might just need a cooling system burp and a new thermostat.
O.K., which Liberty Hill, Texas? MapQuest shows FOUR of them!!!!!!!!
The Liberty Hill North of Austin. I work in Austin.

Thanks for the offer. I might have to take you up on that. My mechanical skills are pretty limited and rusty. Most of my experience was in working on my VW bug many years ago, and doing some basic mods to my Mustang and Cobra. I understand and like cars, but other than bolt-on mods, I haven't done much work on them myself. I bought this car expecting it to be drivable when I got it. It was discouraging to have it overheating the day I got it. I may end up selling it, but will probably try to get it road worthy first (and have it street legal in Texas). It's a very sharp looking car (I like purple) and would probably be a fun to drive second/project car for me once I got it going.

Any progress on getting a block rate at one of them?
What about Knights Inn? It shows it to be very near the Hall of Fame and Expedia lists it at $68 a night for two beds, $53 a night for one... think they could come down a little on that for a group? Is the location bad (since it wasn't included in your list...)?
Otherwise, the prices you've got are, give or take $10, the same as Expedia... so what's our best option (location wise, who cares about amenities) in the (ouch) $70 a night range?

Not sure about Knight's Inn...I will have to ask around on it. The hotels that are in my list are simply the ones that were sent to me by the Waco Chamber of Commerce...they have helped out with some of this. I should have a few chances late this week to get some updates on everything.
--If you are coming and your name is not on the list posted earlier in this thread, please PM me a reminder....
