BUMP Add me to the attendee's list. After stopping at the HEB on IH 35 in Waco on the 19th, I confirmed my brand of beer is available local to the Ruckus. I will be there. My brother who lives in Garland got married on the 20th. The reception was somewhere north of Allen on highway 75 in 2farnorth's neighborhood. I "hill country'ed" it to Austin then took the IH 35 parking lot past Revinville thru Waco to Garland. I came back via Loop 20 skirting Ft Worth by the pumkin patch (Cedar Hill) then down blakeinspace highway then into Kerrville on 16. I was thinking about y'all and vibed you out a "hey" as I past. Sorry I had no time to stop. Seems I have been on a road marathon. From Corpus, to Kerrville, to the wedding, back to Kerrville, then on to Zapata twelve hours later. I have had friends or family local to every Fiero rally even though I could not attend some. Looks like I will need a motel room this time. I am taking applications for a room mate. I hate to discriminate but wifey says no females may apply (she will not be coming). BUMP

It probably was, it probably was . By the way, your application as my room mate was rejected. j/k Tim, a blow out at 80mph ? How did the Fiero handle in the emergency ? Might make for a good topic in General Fiero Chat.

Count me in, I am in College Station so I will be there and I will be square. Waco is too colse for me not to make it, so count me in for the show thing but I don't think I will need a hotel. I look forward to it with great anticipation, and I hope I don't have any major malfunctions before the big event.
Until Later--Nathan

Going to Waco for a job today and will double check on the hotel info. I will check on the Knight's Inn for everyone, and also double check for a cheap hotel near the Hall of Fame.
I did talk with Jay at the HoF yesterday and he confirmed our ability to be there and is very excited about it.
Still waiting to hear from some "sponsors" and will be making LOTS and LOTS of phone calls and visits next week (as I should have some of my projects at work finally cleared up after the 3-day weekend).
Please continue to be patient, and trust that I am doing all that I can to make this a very memorable event.
Thanks for all the support that many of y'all have taken the time to call or email and give to me...it is greatly appreciated.

Nicely "conversing" with a coupla hotels. There is no Baylor game that weekend, so I have found a couple of hotels that may be willing to give us a much better price than normal and they are close to the HoF.
It is not that I am not trying, but...well...just be patient a very very short time longer, and hopefully some of what I am trying to do will pay off.

Going to talk to the Manager of America's Best Value Inn in the morning. The hotel is located right by the Hall of Fame and is within walking (short drive) distance of almost everything that you will need for the night of the 13th (Friday) (George's Bar, Wendy's, Whataburger, LJS, Taco Cabana, McAllister's Deli, Jack-in-the-Box, Arby's). If you want a room there for the night of the 14th that is fine, but I figure that most will want to stay in Gatesville Saturday night b/c of how late the Drive-In may run. I can get us free campsites at one of the local parks in Gatesville that is right on the Leon River, and I can also talk to one of the local hotels about rooms if that is what most are interested in. The park does have a rest room but no showers, and is patrolled by the police so there will be no worries about our cars being vandalized (not that there is a worry, but...well....).
I need to know how many rooms to reserve for the 13th in Waco, and they will want that info by Tuesday, September 12, if at all possible. Their rate that I have them for right now is $54/night, but I am trying to get them to go down more.
Working on everything else as I type this....hope to have some really good news very soon! (those few of you with "inside" info will know what I am meaning...it is looking GOOD!!!)
good job, Tim! That is a pretty good rate for ABV... and about what we pay for the Red Roof for the San Antonio Round Up.
I will probably go ahead and stay in Waco on Friday night, (just drive in after the Drive In)... it is only 40 miles away. That is what? about 10 minutes if your Kevin?...
Would you mind talking to them about it being okay to show up late on Friday to check-in and making sure that they wouldn't give away the room? I am guessing that most people would not want to stay overnight in Gatesville, then be forced to drive into Waco the next day... but I am just speaking for myself mostly.

I prefer to stay in Waco both nights myself, I know first hand about them Gatesville Boys that run around out there. Not really worried about anything but one motel instead of two is just easier. The drive back to Waco after the Drive In will be nice, being it more than likly will be a nice cool night.

Hey don't forget about me.... Me and Nikki will be there! And this time I will be driving the FIERO! I hope......
Just a suggestion....Everytime the Corvette club has a group rate it is usually the Motel 8 off of I-35. There is pleanty of parking in the back and everyone converse around the pool for a party. We ususally do a tech inspection on the race cars there too.
Thought I would just throw that out there.

OK - sounds like most are gonna want to stay Friday & Saturday in Waco, so that is what I will arrange today. The drive back is dark, but with that many cars heading back to Waco after the Drive-In it shouldn't be too bad. And I will make sure that they know that some will be arriving late on Friday...there is no game that weekend at Baylor, the only other big event going on is the Heart o' Texas Fair & Rodeo (that testosterone thing), so there shouldn't be any problem with them holding the rooms.
So - what is it about those Gatesville boys that you know about? Curious...I have lived here for 7 years now...never really had any problems.
Talking to some "sponsors" later today, and will hopefully have some more good news....soon (again).

I spoke with tthe manager, Judy, today and told her about the RRR. She is very happy to be able to have anyone stay there that would like to. The rate for the rooms is $43.99/night (+tax). I had originally been given the price of $53.99/night, so she was nice enough to give us a little better rate.
You will need to call and let them know that you are with the Red River Ruckus (or as she kept calling it, "the car show"), and reserve your room. Credit card is needed. Check-in time begins at 3:00pm on Friday, and check-out is 11:00am Sunday. They do have a 24-hour cancellation policy. The sooner we get calls in for the rooms the better, as the Heart o' Texas Fair & Rodeo is going on that weekend.
I spoke to one of the managers at George's Bar, and he will rope off an area toward the front of the bar for our cars as we arrive on Friday night. The hotel is only about 6 blocks away (although I didn't actually count).
I am very very close to having our shirts paid for, so hopefully we will not need to pay for them ourselves.
More news coming soon....

There's always a skeptic in the crowd - I'll be the one.
Tim, have you checked out the room(s) personally? Blake and I found it necessary when we set up the Ruckus at Jefferson. If, you have not checked out the rooms and the inside of the hotel yourself, please do so and let us know the outcome.

Yeah, I took a look at them, and they were also recommended to me by one of my clients. I don't think that anyone should have a problem with the rooms. I will see if I can run back by in the next few days and get some pics.
