I know this subject is touchy for some, but I do know that he built an incredible 3.4 dohc before things went sour......And I am truely sorry for bringing up old memories!! I just spend the last 2 hours searching the archives for info on his 3.4 dohc, and have found nothing pretaining to what I need........
What I am looking for is any info on what his setup may include... I already know of one source from ARI's Kitcar forum, but I am searching for more info...... The problem is that he doesn't talk about what exactly he did for exhaust, nor cams...... So if you could help me out here that would be totally awesome indeed!!

He is said to have ripped some people off..... This is all I know of, and honestly, he had some great ideas about the 3.4 dohc motor and is an inspiration to me on this motor........Personally though I have never dealt with him and would reserve any opionon until I have done so......

From what I've read he added about 80 to 100 hp without turbo...Plus the exhaust note is suppose to be made up of a ferrari 355 muffler and glass pax.......

Ok via research..... He never really proved a better sound from the 355 muffler. I'm going to say screw buying a muffler that costs $500 (which is increadably cheap for that muffler) and have an entire 3" Mandrel system built.
Pavo- DKOV never once put up a soundclip of his own car. The clip that sounded good was from a Cutlass like you said. IT sounds to me to be a high flow system with maybe a resonator, that's why the high pitches are comming through and the mellow glasspack sound is hidden.
That sound coming from the DOHC is the puuuuuuuurtiest though! OH YEAH BABY!!!

There were supposed to be a couple of vids that he had posted on his site, but the linx don't work anymore....... So maybe it did sound like that file, I dunno though..... Course according to what we did read the ferrari muffler was closed to the low flow of the muffler, and opened for the high flow part of it........ You may have something there with a 3" mandrel exhaust and a high flow muffler...... LOL, do you plan on having a trunk??

This link from ARI's kitcar forum talks a lil bit more about his mod list, that isn't covered in the link quoted....
I know this is gonna be hard to stop, but people really need to try to stop fights whenever they appear....... Also, forgive me for not having the insight for this before hand!!
Could we NOT turn this thread into a bash DKOV thread.... Some people like myself are TRUELY interested in getting a finely tuned 3.4 DOHC and this guy seems to know what is up..... The only thing that he hasn't posted on, really, is his exhaust and cams that I can see...... The cams were already done by the owner he got the motor from, plus what he had done to them also is listed..... On top of all that, from what I've read he had never gotten the right exhaust note so why put forth info that is incomplete............... YES, YES, I know that doesn't sound right! But there are some of us that are willing to look past all the problems that are associated with DKOV and LEARN something from him..........
So PLEASE keep any and all negatives to your self, PLEASE!!

Agreed. Pavo is right, it doesn't matter how much you guys don't like him, he had the dyno sheets and numbers to back him. IT doesn't matter if he didn't know what he was doing, either he or the guy before him did some revolutionary things to the TDC. We want to know what and how.
Moral of the story: Stop bickering about it, were're past that; instead lets find out what's going on with that TDC.
I think the majority of his power came from Cam adjustments and porting, along with bolt ons like underdrive pulley's and PS delete.

Dkov (scott) is no longer in kit cars or fieros. He had gone to rally crossing and I'm not even sure he's doing that anymore. I met him a few years back, actually lives a couple miles from me. Great guy. I know nothing of these mistakes he made. (Ripoffs) But I can tell you he has not had a great buisness life. While doing kit cars, I know he had some sort of computer buisness, I believe that fell threw. Please keep in mind he had 3 children and a wife at the time. I know he now has a forth, but that was a couple yrs ago. It's been a while since I've talked to him. It seems to me that he has been trying to get his life running the way it should, by doing whatever it takes. I'm sure he has been trying to forget the past, and by not talking about it probably helps a lot. I'm sure if he could, he'd repay every person he has rippedoff, if he has, in the past. While I knew him, he did have a dohc 3.4 he was working on. Sent the motor to a mechanic out here, actually believe it was a guy who used to race. Idk. I don;t believe he ever finished it. Sounds like he's doing something that every man should have to do. From what I've read I think very highly of him. Not becuase of his knowledge, but because of his willingness to learn and move on. He never could really answer what was done to his car, partly I believe because he didn't know. But he always kept it civil, always handled conflict well. I think the fact that he could actually brought confict upon him. Reguardless he has my respect. No one can please everyone.
DKOV's motor was built before he had it, and I think the key is what was done before he pulled it out of the Cutlass. He never unlocked it's full potential though.. No one has yet.
The key to making a small displacement engine scream is forced induction. When someone finally builds an LQ1 to hold more than 16lbs of boost...
About what I said earlier Pavo. Yes PS= Power steering. The engine was rated factory spinning a small compressor much like an AC compressor. Put a pulley in it's place and get more power. You can also bolt on an underdrive pulley for less weight on the crankshaft. Cam timming and grinding opens floodgates. Port and polish inake, heads, with a high flow exhaust. Short Runner Intake High Pressure Injectors Lots of oil (as much as you can get in the motor) HEI ingition (Oh.. HEI = High Energy Ignition) MSD coilpacks, 8.5 mm Wires, Iridium plugs possible split fire Lots of small little tweaks
Anyone is free to add to this list or delete for that matter. The idea is to learn about the motor not claim full knowledge of it.

This topic is still so variable. Because the gears are not keyed, there are infinite combinations. Another large factor playing into this is transmission and gearing.
For a manual trans. with higher shift points, many people recommend setting the exhaust cams only to 13* retard. The valve overlap will create a rough idle but shift the powerband upward to better accomodate the low geared Getrag and Muncie transmissions.
Automatic transmissions with their lower shift points and lower end grunt are better suited to -6* (or-7*) retard on exhaust and +6* intake advance.
"I wish I could comment on the changes in performance but I rebuilt the motor, decked the heads, balanced and blueprinted it, etc all at the same time. What I can say: The idle is choppier due to the extra overlap. The powerband seems to have shifted up, it doesnt pull as hard until 3750 or 4000 now, and pulls to about 6500 or 6750." -series8217 April 16 '06 (He is using an Izuzu)
"They have the procedure for the 13 degree retard on there in detail. It's a good mod on the TDC but especially true in the Fiero since it gives more mid range and upper end power. The Fiero being lighter and having low gears of the getrag make that a must do mod. Night and day difference. You still will start falling off just before 7k but it helps a ton on the mid and top end for sure. A custom intake would help even more up there as would headers. you know i think he did have another 3.4 before that, i think he showed me a vid once. but he was gonna do a 3.4 dohc completely with performance parts and twin turbo. he was hoping to push 550 hp and still have the 7-8k rpm

I rode in his car alot of times and it was pretty impressive. The guy knows his stuff. The motor came ouy of a old car of his so i know he built it ( grand pri). Please stay with the positive ... Everyone i know that knows him in person thinks of him in high reguards. I have known him for 10 years and all he has done is try to help me. DKOV owes me $5000 and has for over 4 years. He has constantly lied to me about everything that was ever supposed to happen in our transaction. he is a worthless pile of dog crap and if I can't get him legally I will end up driving the 13 hours and taking it out of his @$$. I am currently compiling information from others who he has ripped off and going after him for fraud. He thinks he can just hide and change his phone numbers and it will go away but it will not. I was very patient with him and even defended him for a while... But I finally learned that he is a liar and a thief.
Sorry I couldn't offer any positive info for you, but I figured you would rather have the truth. Oh, and about the 3.4 DOHC.. That was all crap too. The engine was supposed to be mine at one time but it was never even completed. He told everyone that he had done all of this work to it, but when I was going to go pick it up it turned out not to be true just like everything else. But he had 'planned' to do those things. The motor was not out of a Cutlass. It was out of a 91 Grand Prix. It is sitting in a shop up there owned by an engine builder that will not let Scott have it back because he owes him money too. Scott knows nothing about building engines, cars, or anything else. He got other local people to do work for him and took the credit for it.
Hopefully no one else will fall for his lies. I recently wrote to all of his SCCA buddies up there in Washington and enlightened them about him.
I will not keep any thread positive about him because he is not a great guy. I was in the same place as some of you who want to defend him. I almost ruined my reputation by aligning myself with a criminal. Go ahead and tell me I don't know what I am talking about. I have over 4 years worth of e-mails from him filled with his lies. For over a year he was sending me 'updates' about what he was doing to my cars. When I finally got the idea that he was lying I drove up there and found my cars EXACTLY as they had been sent to him. He hadn't even touched them. Does that sound like a great guy to you? Does a great guy steal $5000 from someone and then disappear? Even when you try to be patient and work with him on it and he still hides from you, do you still call him a great guy? No, you put his @$$ in jail where he belongs. He knows I am working with my lawyers and the others who he has ripped off and he still won't call me. He did e-mail me and try to act like I had done him wrong by telling his SCCA buddies about his illegal activities, but he still makes no effort to try to pay me back or many any efforts towards keeping me from filing charges against him... Great guy!
Sorry if you guys think this is inappropriate but the OP asked for positive info on DKOV and I simply told him he wouldn't likely find it. As for any specs or sheets DKOV may have had on his engine, don't believe them.
