If you go forward on this, can I leave a piece of advice and make them bolt on...
i am doing this, just going to take some time getting started, it will be bolt on for the fiero. (i said bolt/weld on because you could use it on other things too)

Good luck on asking I have several times. I am working on making me a set and will make prints of them with measurements and pictures so any one else wanting to make there own will have a head start.

tryin to ruin my post? lol
i will make them more affordable than the rest of the kits, depends on how many people are interested, if more people are interested than i'll be able to sell them for even less thinking about selling them for $500-$550 and the angle on them will be adjustable, made out of titanium with ball bearings. i saw a thread on here a week or so ago that was talking about $850 a kit or something like that, these will probly be slightly better and $300 less.

update on design, they will have adjustments for how far the door moves outward and adjustments for how far vertical, titanium bushings, everything with these will be made out of titanium 1/4" thick and 3/8" thick versions. (ofcourse the 3/8" will be a little more)

When do you expect to have these done by, sofar many people have tried to get affordable sets made or talked about it and I have yet to see them. If you are serious about getting these on the market and it will be relatively soon, I would take 2 or 3 sets.

errr...yeah lol i gotta get my camaro sold and get the fiero i found before i can start selling these things!
You mean before you start "making" these things.... Custom things take along time, so I will give you credit, but its been stated before by the master (Cough madcurl) lol that not all fieros are the same, as not all frames are perfect, and that could throw your whole perspective out of proportion. Read some of the other threads on these types of things. Ideas are great, but results are even better.
So please, when you do start to make these, make a build thread with lots of pics, so people know where there money is actually going too.

Have fun!
i could make them universal, or easily modified, we'll have to see after i get the car i will make them work and for a decent price.
plan on making a build thread too, but it wont be till i'm done and ready to sell, its going to be patented. making the prototype in a couple weeks to start workin the bugs out my friend thinks it wont take long to make them, could make 2+ a day so i'll have them fairly quick after i get the finished product. any suggestions?

No, sorry if it looked that way I would love to see a set of hinges for a decent price and wish you luck I was just saying I plan on doing a set and giving info for the DIY guys and gals. I'm poor so I have to make my Fiero. LOL

lol i know you werent tryin to,
i'm poor too lmao all my money is going into these...... this would be easier if i could make them weld on, considering what Custom2M4 said... but i will try to make bolt on's if thats what you need. just might need a little modification to bolt up, (maybe notching the bolt holes, cutting a little off, etc) but for most it should be a bolt on.
thinking of making steel bushings for it and then doing the rest titanium, any thaughts on this? (steel is easier to find/cheaper lol)

ok i've got a question for everyone, would titanium actually be better? or would it be ok with steel? (it would be painted and everything ) just trying to figure out what tools, supplies, etc. that i need so i can start ordering...

I would think that titanium hinges would be the shiznit - strong and light - but if you haven't priced the material or tooling you may be in for a surprise as it's not cheap.

Rob D.
that would be why i asked the question. lol
my friend is going to ask the guy that he gets his metal from how much it would cost and everything, it will be stronger than the one-peice titanium, welded in 2 places in the middle(i think) thats kinda the design for right now, will be making a prototype next week hopefully!
btw, when i get interested in doing something, i do it. this could make me some decent $$$, so dont think this is going to fall through..... if the material is going to cost too much the price might go up.... but it wont go past $650 still alot cheaper than the others...... and i like making things anyway! lol let me know if anyone has any suggestions, like material's, thickness's, etc.

You would be surprised how hard it would be to get a patent for something that has already on the market for 2+ years is.... Thats like making a skateboard out of wood and asking if you can be the only one to make a skateboard out of wood... Whats the point of the wasted time / money? If you make it cheap enough people wouldn't care about re-producing them.

they are different from anything else, similar but different, and i should be able to get a patent and it will make it alot easier for me incase someone else has a patent on something i make and then i have to deal with legal trouble....
anyone interested in some kits made out of steel and painted? for about 550 shipped? i am going to need to do this so i can get the $$$ to get the titanium and better tools, should only need to sell 5 of them to get started...... anyone interested? if not i'll have to look into barrowing some $$$$
btw, dont think i wont be making these because of this if no one is interested in the steel ones, i'll still do it!

ok now that i think about it, these will be cheaper to make then i thaught with steel, so probly 400-450 a pair, just need 5 people interested, they will be painted and everything so they wont rust...
ok i got the design finished today, i'd post pics but uh...... well you know lol. gotta get it made and a patent first.
i will get pics after i make the first pair and then when i get them on the car (i'll make a build thread)
I would suggest you forget about the patent if you were serious about that. All a patent gives you is the right to sue someone, you have to then prove at very high cost in court that your the first person to ever think up the idea AND that it's not an obvious solution to someone in the field of designing hinges. Doing all that will make you a poor bitter man rather than someone who makes money off of designing and building hinges. As can be seen here and everywhere else, if you have a great idea, market it. If it's a good one it'll sell, if it's a great one it WILL be copied and there isn't a chance in hell the competition is going to be paying royalties to you. The other fact is that it's been done before, maybe not in a fiero, but for an icebox or something somewhere. Patents are ridiculously easy to break and there are several ways to go about it, all of which leave the patent holder with a lot of money spent rather than a lot of money made.
well basicly all i have to do now is wait to get the fiero, then i'll be putting the prototype on and testing it, then making them within a week from then ( making 5 steel ones first, so i can get started on the titanium ) as soon as i find the struts i'll let ya know on the price.
