I was digging through the forums late last night, and I came across a thread that made a refrence to someone using a pair of front fenders to make a rear widebody kit........

Has anyone else heard of this? I will try to find the thread again....

Ive been looking.... I found one that it was built up with fiberglass and bondo........

https://www.fiero.nl/forum/Forum1/HTML/054699.html

This is possible, but i want to compare it to how it was done with a front trim piece. ( I have 1 spare)

If you can refrence the thread, please let me know!

Sorry, I can't remember what thread it's in. I know there is one that gives a pretty good idea of how to do it because I was thinking about it at one time. But here's a bump for you because I'm sure somebody else knows. You could pm madcurl too. He's always helpful.

I think he has two (-edit-that use the front fenders, he has more than two chopped wide bodies). Here's the latest: Arch Rival: https://www.fiero.nl/forum/Forum1/HTML/050746.html

Where would you get big ol vents like that? Im refering to the vents infront of the rear wheels. Those are cool! One of the thread you posted showed someone DIY'ing it:

This person already had a aftermarket body kit on it? Seen as the blue section that runs under the door and behind the front wheels?

If I diddnt want to buy those panels, would I still be able to do the widebody mod and the wheel vents? What do you guys think of that process shown in the first picture? Has anyone got a thread describing it?

And if i did just want to buy the wheel vents and other panels shown in the picture, where would i get them, and how much?

Fun stuff!

As you can see these vents are custom made, however the fiero warehouse sells a set that looks very, very similair and was made for their IMSA widebody kit, but that can be fitted to the stock fiero.

The process as to how they are made are right before your eyes and are listed in the threads listed. If you want further details i would ask madcurl, but again it is not a very complex process they just need to be fabricated.

The tan parts you see are compressed cardboard that was cut, shaped and placed, then glassed over to form the vents. The rockers were from pisa, but modified to exclude the regular vent that came with them so that madcurl could add his own as you see here.

However before you go fabricating you might want to wait as v-8 Archie is about to pull molds off of madcurl's Arch rival car aka choptop #20 that is listed above.

Would save you a lot of work in fabbing up the widebody stuff.

Making molds...... That would be really nice! But, he is probably going to want to charge $200-500 for them, right?

I'd be glad to answer some of your questions. One of the main question that needs to be answered is:

1. How wide of a rim you want in the back? You need to purchase the rims first. V8Archie has the specs for the rear and the fronts. A 10.5-12" rims seems to be the range for now using either the Fiero Warehouse wide-body kit or the Mad-Archie's for the rear. Granted, you can modify the needed areas (if you have skilss?) but, IMO I'd want until Archie pulls a mold.

2. If you can't find a company who sells staggared rims, you're dead in the water. Do a research for your perticular style and width. Otherwise, you'll need to purchase custom wheels. HRE's/Simmons/Boyd's/Racing Hart, and others will make them to your specs.

You'll find other unanswered questions in the various threads mentioned above.

If by that you mean a 10 -12 inch wide rim for the back and a 7 -8 inch rim for the front. Good luck finding one in Fiero bolt pattern.

I don't know the name of these DUBs but they are wide-boys. Just like #015...these looks like 11" rear?

i can walk around my car now and kind of eyeball the start of widening it (still need a 115mm bolt pattern change so i can put the wheels on and know exactly how wide they need to be), but i'm wondering how much of the front fender parts was trimmed away to start with. looks like right at the side molding line and the inside strip that mounts it to the front wheelwells? i just have one set of extra fenders and don't want to cut off to much at the beginning.

It's easier buying custom made wheels in your bolt pattern and size, then messing around with changing the bolt pattern. Unless you want to use Vette brakes and go with the 5x120.7 bolt, then its not worth it in the long run.

Doesnt wide rear wheels ruin your gas mileage? I was thinking I would use a spacer to move my tires out. Im not really wanting to do wide tires for performance reasons, and i would like to keep my gas mileage.

thanks!

Any info on those rear tail lights? How did you do them?

Anyways, is it wrong to want to have a cool car, and still have it functional as a daily driver for a college student?

78-82 'Vette tails. Look for 355 style panels. A few different vendors have them, but you should go with a one piece panel. I got mine from kahines.com

A Great link Tony and those 20x10.5 would fit nicely using the Mad-Arches.

Hey That's my Fiero...up there!
Yes, Tony really knows his stuff.
Madcurl thanks for tip on Arch-Rival wide body kit, but
it's to late. I already ordered and have Archie's rocker panels.
I'll be doing a short build up thread in late March.

Madcurl, yes I'll be tweaking "Archie's rockers", thanks to you I had to have that wide body look.
Note: Ausie's look-a- like, I made them from stock panels, someone from our WCF Club will have them on.

So, Car-lo...what's the size of those tire/rims? The rears look like 20x11's? What's the off-set and cost?

just incase some one hasnt already brought this to your attention...archie is taking molds off of curlys car for a widebody. you will have to mold the door skins and the rear fender flares but thats not as hard as people make it seem-i'm only 16 and i tought myself how to do it with my wing, rockers, and door jams) it just takes time. but in the long run it'll save you alot of time bcuz it took archie and his team 160 hours to make curlys from scratch and they work fast
