So I was cruising around my local Canadian Tire and I noticed these body "accents" that look like shark fin radio antennas. Then I got thinking... well if I flip them upside down, they're kinda like diffuser fins. And at 5$ each, not a big deal.
I bought 4, brought them home, painted them to match my rear bumper. They just attach with double sided tape. Which sounds cheesy but is good in my opinion because if I dont like them I can just peel them off. I placed them on the underside of the bumper so you don't see how they attach anyways. Just sort of gives that "diffuser look/feel"
What do you guys think, yay or nay?

I dont think it looks to bad especially for what you paid for them. I see that you must have the same bright red paint as i do that looks orange in pics or is that really orange.

I don't know.Maybe if they were somewhat smaller. Hate to say it...but to me it kinda looks like it's about ready to plow the field. Just it the lever...and drop the back to start churning up the dirt.

haha some good (and funny) feedback so far. I expect someone to drop the "rice" bomb on me too.
Just let it all out....
I think I'm going to keep them for a while because they look much better in person.... and yes my paint is bright red which looks great in person and orange on a camera phone...

i like em chris... it goes with what your doing to your car... for me it wouldn't fit but i think they'll look better in person when i see them... also gotta say... i love that IMSA spoiler...
I'd say move them a bit further under the car so they're pointing more downward than backward. They should still be pretty noticeable to those who are looking. And your exhaust tips are filthy inside

I like them! I agree with moving them under more and hey..make them somewhat functional! Hook them to the radio lol. Might not add HP but your radio will get good signal and thats worth somethin!

They put those on the wing roots of of large commercial jets to increase the lift of the slow parts of the wings. They call them vortex generators in that case. In your case they have no function that I can think of other than cosmetic. Personally I find them visually annoying taking away from the clean lines of the Fiero. But like you said, for $5 you can take them off when you tire of them.
i like the idea. if nothing else if you decide to work on a more permanent idea you could use them to get the shape right, and maybe mold and/or blend them into the facia with some bumper epoxy. or.. a spare facia that needs a bit of repair that you might be epoxying anyway. then you're only out the price of the antenna things and an already damaged facia if it dosen't work out.
If you can get the fiero to float that would be one stylish surf board

I like them for the time being, and because they were so inexpensive and easily removable they'll just sit on there for a while.
And yellowstone, I do like that diffuser and actually had an idea for something like that as well... unfortunately it was a lot more expensive and I wasn't 100% sure it would fit "right".

From straight back, I think they look awesome. But from the side, the look way too short to actually be confused with real functional rear defuser fins.
First, I have to applaud your creativity! Not everyone is able to see things "outside the box" like this. In keeping with the "keep it cheap" theme, maybe using some black silicone around the edges smoothed out nicely would help to blend it in more with the body- just a thought.
One last thing, something that I can't help throwing out there...
It kinda gives the expression "going to pick up the kids" a different twist...

I agree with you guys for the most part. If I could find a way to make it part of the bumper or extend them, I would. Unfortunately I dont have much experience with fiberglass, AND I just got my decklid and IMSA spoiler painted... so another piece to be painted right now just isn't in the budget. But I do take donations hahaha
Any other ideas or suggestions are welcome
Actually, it was funny, last night a guy in a nicely done Subaru Imprezza pulls up to me on the highway, rolls his window down and yells, "Nice car! That diffuser on the back is sweeeeeeet"
haha, I yelled back, "I made it for 20$" ------------------

I can't blame you for trying 2C4, I do try stuff all the time, but you kinda lost me on this one. You might wanna combine these shark fins with the reversed wing ? maybe that would bring it together...it needs a frame. Keep it up. If you do it, do it right...
Here are just a few examples, better and worse of Fiero Diffuser attempts.

I agree theres a lot better out there than what I put together... If I had a spare rear bumper and the fiberglass confidence and the money haha I would have done something more "complete"
And blacktree... didn't you have to cut out some of your trunk, or modify your exhaust to make your rear diffuser work?

I did both. I chopped about 3" off the bottom of the trunk, and made a custom exhaust. Recently, I removed the glass-pack exhaust and replaced it with a modified stock-style exhaust (which doesn't block any of the diffuser any more). The exhaust mod isn't necessary, but does remove clutter from the diffuser section.
My comment about building one for you was tongue-in-cheek. Although if you threw enough money at me, I'd consider it. Like the saying goes, everybody has a price.
