Well at the moment I have not spent much money on the motor at all. All of the work was done by me for nothing except for the cam which had to be replaced already. The intake will also be custom but that is mostly because of lack of space for the stock style being that the car has a 5 speed, lines that run to the front to use an auto tranny radiator as an oil cooler, and an inline filler for coolant. I like the idea of way the stock 4.9 is setup with the throttle body on top of the motor. I am going to use this as an advantage to make a short custom intake that will pull cold air through the decklid. As for looks, a enginecover will be incorporated into the intake to give the whole engine bay a clean look.
I've done..
Small bump up with the cam ~280 lift - $180 but stock cam was bad so it was necissary
valves de-shrouded and all sharp edges knocked down
Heads on intake and exhaust sides gasket matched
New gaskets, bearings, rings
custom chip
intake - working out the details now
"Y" cat instead of "Y" pipe, stock style catback
Thats it. Minor work that didn't cost me much of anything except for the normal stuff to get it on the road. I may still go for some stronger valve springs to get me to that 6k redline that you are already at. My 4.9 will not run out of breath between 4-5k like the stock ones tend to do. Total spent ~$1000 including the mounts and other install parts so I may need to spend some more on mods to get up to where you are at now.
Are you running emissions stuff on yours? I had to.
Got a build thread? Mine in sig.
This could be fun! I must warn you though I have been racing since I was 6 years old. My first motor cycle (got it at 4) had training wheels on it. No joke. Mom was PISSED when she found out dad got me one.
