Take a tape measure with you I’d like measurements of the lens on the snorkel Does not have to be accurate just close If you could get a pic or 2 with the tape measure in the pic that would be great Also a pic of the rims with the tape measure One last request The size of the PONTIAC sticker on the front windshield Thanks

the bolt patterns do not match a stock Fiero wheel - this much I know.
Since the spindles were Firebird, I'm guessing the wheels were 5 x 4.75" And the wheels were made by Centerline. But as pointed out earlier, it was a regular wheel, with a really fancy cover over it.
Well guys, I went there. But the fiero is in the basement and visitors aren't allowed down there unless Tony George gives permission. I'm going to try to email him and see where it gets me. Sorry guys.

Wheels:Custom Chrome Centerline 16x7 front 16x8 rear..they were designed by John Schinella of GM
Custom Aluminum Spindle hubs were from Bell Tech modified to use the Fiero knuckle but the F body bearing a rotor.
Rear brakes were STE axles with rotors to match the F bodies size on the rear, they were modifies to fit the FWD axles and other related STE parts
Tires Goodyear Eagle VR 205-50-16 front 225-50-16 rear
The window Pontiac sticker was just the standard Motorsports Design window sticker available through Pontiac. It was also used on the race cars in GTU and GTO IMSA racing. I have one on my car from the 80's yet and Motorsports Design is still around making most of the car wraps and stickers for NASCA in North Carolina.
I do not have a bolt patter for the wheels They could be 5x4 3/4 or 115 MM but I can't remember.
Here is some trivia for the new folks here. There is a 4th pace car and it is still at Indy with one of the original SD cars. It was a Turbo OHC but it kept blowing up. They went to the SD engine for durability. It sported Pontiac on the rear wing and used the DGP Centerline wheels painted white.
Sorry I could not find the pictures but both Pace cars are in storage at Indy. Ron T from the Michigan club found the unlnow Turbo car a few years ago and was featured in one of the last FOCOA magazines.
I hope that helps.

I have picutres of the wheels taken apart but have to keep them a secret for now. They were the Centerlines like I have on my car below just thinner with a large alluminum disk made to fit and held on the back with long threaded allen key'd studs. Neat stuff. Rick
Hey, I took that photo at the Pace Car Reunion. I am looking through my hard drive on my desktop for that photo to e-mail it to you in a HI-RES format. I think it is on my laptop. I will have to look there tomorrow, and I will let you know later when i find it.
I did find this one on my hard drive. It is a picture of one of the wheels from Indy #2 that GM owns. I took the photo at the GM Tech center a few years back. I am e-mailing it to you now in HI-RES.

Do I remember correctly that it was some oddball 1.8L engine?
A few years back, someone here on the forum went as far as to take a set of "Moon" hubcaps, and made a set of wheel covers that looked very much like the Indy wheels. There was a writeup here on Pennock's, if I recall right...might possibly be something in the archives on it, if someone was driven enough to check it out.

First reason is there not my photos to share. Second is naturally I would like to get them posted on my site www.Fieropacecar.com once I get permission.
Below is a close up that was posted here awhile back by someone else. You can see the inside Centerline rim painted black and the rivets. I have shots of the disk off showing the crude paint job to hide the underside. Rick

It was the 1.8 Sunbird Turbo engine. If I can remember correctly the crank kep breaking or spinning bearings at high speed so they rebuilt the engine and gave the car to the speedway.
I have never seen a public story ot mention by GM about the car but it is still with us. As far as I know it was never put on public display either.
And for the wheels they had disc bolted on a Centerline wheel and no great mysteries. Think of it as a Similar concept as the early first gen F body but not in aluminum not plastic. John Schinella did the wheels for both cars and Pontiac was on a big aero concepts idea back then.
With todays miling machines available if you have enough money they would not be hard to reproduce on a different wheel. Billet wheel parts are not hard for a good machinest to make.

It was on Display at the Michigan Fiero Club show, July 2005, in Birch Run Michigan. The above photo of it is with RareW66's Yellow PPG car and my 85 GT. I have a few more pics of the car. The car was also brought out of the IMS museum during the Pace Car reunion at Indy.
Here are a couple more photos from the same shoot in 05. I was running that show and barely had time to breath, let alone get good photos. I wish I would have had more time to take proper photos of the car.

Thanks for posting..
I was not aware it was brought out for that show. I thought it was the other car that was there. I am glad to see they brought it out.

Thanks Ron, these are the photos I had from Ron and would not post them without Ron's permission. I respect Ron and would never show them unless he wanted them shown. Rick

Yes but they painted them black to make sure they couldn't be seen thru the holes on the Disk's. Centerline was a choice for allot of speacialty cars like the Fiero's during this period. Rick

These wheels were muliti piece forged aluminum wheels rivieted together with a silcone sealing the center. They were a strong wheel as you could bend them but seldom break one.
Centerline offered them for sale in the 80's and early 1990's and were a very strong wheel. But they were expensive wheels at that time and there was little chance they would have made production. They also would not have met GM standard for production wheels since they were not clear coated. Centerline did not clear wheels back then. It was polished or satin only with not clear coat.
I almost bought a set back then and kick myself for not getting them.
