construction has progressed to phase 2 (plug creation) of my custom short runner intake - this should also negate the 96-96 intake upgrade

TB coolant line is bypassed by threading a 90* brass fitting in and then sealing it with a high temp epoxy putty (yes it is sealed its been running with it like that)

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v435/kohburn/coolant-bypass.jpg

then we have construction of the new plenum baseplate and TB mounting plate for the 96 dohc TB

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v435/kohburn/Cam_0690.jpg

now today we have the foam plug foaming

Hey RWDPLZ, how can I get an RPO code report (like the one you posted in this thread) for my 86 2M4? Can it be generated somewhere on the web with a VIN?

Thanks!

all you really need to do is check the rpo sticker on the drivers side fender under the hood

fabbed up my vacuum distribution block, my breather and PCV lines along with painting the core of my oil catch can that goes on the PCV line (catch can is filled with copper dish scrubbers to help knock any oil droplets out of the air, tip i picked up on GRM)

catch can will be mounted on the trunk wall directly behind the TB so that its ports will be facing the TB ports.. the lines are all layed out about how they will be on the engine with the intake plenum in the center.

moving under its own power again (ran out of gas) - installed the wrap around spoiler..

next step.. eliminate vacuum leaks, replace the turbo oil return line with my fancy new braided stainless line - then tune it

Wow thats pretty cool, you've put a lot of effort into that!

I like the way your fiero looks too... the red with the black aero package, wrap around spoiler and dark rims... pretty much exactly what I'm going for. I dont have the IMSA spoiler yet but I plan on getting one this summer, and a closed mouth chin spoiler.

Good work, I love it!

may as well toss out an update -
after exploding the composite intake twice while trying to tune the engine - i decided to remake the stock one..

I cut it into peices.. this was interesting because it displayed the restrictions of the stock 91-95 intake

I next cut it back farther and welded a 3" tube to the intake after using an die grinder to knife edge all the ports..

I ground down most of the welds and filled a few dips with epoxy

then sanded with 80 grit to remove grind marks - primed - painted- and installed

now back to tuning

ok so mayube strength wasn't an issue with the composite one after all -- an intake backfire did this to the welded one

been a long time since i made any updates so....

new turbo arrived

now to port the wastegate hole before installing it and rig up a new intake for that rediculous 4" horn on the intake of the polished compressor housing

seems like a little overkill when the ID at the throat is so much smaller

this turbo can easily support 400+ WHP
its not veyr common turbo to use but i've found mr2's, E46 beemers, supras, etc pushing anywhere from 450-580 WHP with this turbo

the 42# injectors are on their way, they should max out around 460 WHP if the engine lasts that long. when the engine goes south i'll rebuild with forged pistons and cometic head gaskets.

i'm rewiring the engine to use the 95 MAF/SFI ecm with a vette MAF and tuning via Greddy E-manage (can adjust fuel and spark, auto tune with a wideband input, add a MAP sensor to a MAF or even eliminate a MAF, and most importantly dyno shops know how to tune with it)
