2008 Walk Of The Pegasus

after the dicussion over wanting a more central location for the 25th anniversary show
, Ive come up with a idea that may motivate you guys in the east and west to make the drive. and make your trip a little more interesting.

Below is the post that i made in the 25th anniversary thread discussing the idea.

let me know what you guys think about it!
Im sure all of you who show often. have gone to shows in caravans of Fieros.
And since the show should be and will be held at the home of our Fieros. there will be people that live on the west and east coast that may not be motivated enough to drive days to get there.

so what do you guys think about having a tour to the show? Im sure we could work out the stops along the way though helpful forum members who want to be a important part of the 25th anniversary right? (volenteers raise hand here) if you guys out west help work out a route and you guys in the east work out your route. we could all meet in a mid central location maybe Davenport, Iowa or St. louis Missori?
then the two groups could caravan the rest of the way to Michagan. I can work with the Heartland fiero club to work out the central stop. mayeb if people would rather meet in st louis. then the someone on here from the gateway club could work out the central stop?

IF by any chance at all you may be interested in having (hosting a stop or just participating) in this tour, post a reply to show interest. and if there is enough interst to make it worth doing then ill start a formal thread for the tour. and we can discuss the stops and possible activitys.

Thanks to blackrams for the idea. your participation wound be great!

all replys welcome, along with +'s

Oh man. That sounds awesome. A giant fleet of Fieros travelling up the highway to MI. Hotel arrangements could be a nightmare though. I can't exactly work on coordinating anything right now though, as I'm in the middle of major life altering decision making at the moment, and am not sure where I'll be exactly over the course of the next 2 years. However, I'd totally be up for joining the parade.

2 years notice...I better make this thread a favorite!

I can't guarantee anything, can't even guarantee having a Fiero, but I should have 2 by then, one for me and one for my (at that point wife) fiance. Probably only take one, but that sounds like a good time!

Detroit. I'll pick you up at the airport and we can ride to the show in one of my Fieros. Your choice, 85 GT or 88 Formula.

I just happened to be reading this and https://www.fiero.nl/forum/Forum1/HTML/059721-2.html at the same time. Someone mentioned getting a bunch of the faster Fieros together and running them at a track. FieroX mentioned that there's a good track in Topeka. Any interest?

This trip sounds like a blast wherever it is!

good idea for a guideline on the path to choose.

id like to arrange it so that the western group and the eastern group meet in the same central location, and then finish the rest of the cruise to the 25th as a single group. Id like to do it in davenport ia (hot rod powertour stop too) i can work with the heartland club to set up a welcoming and help work out the host hotel if needed. We still need idea's for stops along the way both for the west group and the east group. all input welcome

I'm not going to go out on a limb just yet, but I will say that if there is anyway possible, I'll hopefully be there. I think it's a great idea.
Who said that??

Oh, what the hell. Anyone that has an interest in going and is traveling through KY, if you want to meet up in Lexington, KY, I'll make arrangements for a meeting place, help with reservations at a centrally located hotel and if needed, set up some things such as local events or attractions for those that get here early. This could be fun.

I would prefer the meet to be somewhere in the Central, as I am coming from Canada. But Never the less, if the show is in california.

I WILL make it. (with 20" rims..) haha

I hope you come too! try to get as many fiero owners you know to be part of this tour! i want it to be big! if we could have 400 cars meet for the final cruise to michgan id feel pretty good about the two years planning. i dont see reason why we cant get at least that! we arent just talking about the best car show in fiero history. but the 25th anniversary of our Fiero! and a chance for them all to be in their birthplace! a trip to the factory has been in the works for a while (thanks to rarew66, so a group shot of the largest group of fieros post production is deffenitly possible. and being part of the photo would give you a important part in fiero history!
to everyone who would like to see this work out the best possible, please show your support in this thread and if possible, the tour and the 25th in 2008!

thanks,

Funny you posted this. Me and my neighbor's wife were jsut talking about the 25th show and whether we should get all the people from this area thats going to travel together. I think its a grand idea nad would be happy to help out any way that I can. People could even come here and meet up with us and head up there.

I live near the cross roads of I 64 and I 75 near Lexington, KY. I'm about 6 hours from Detroit. Those of you thinking you might want to break up your trip and spend the night in Lexington or for that matter Gerogetown, give me a holler. I plan on attending the 25th event and I'm on your way if you're south or southeast of KY and traveling on 1 75 N or I 64 W or E. I realize those folks that live near St Louis won't be coming this way. Anyway, the offer still stands, I'll help organize or provide a camping spot, help in the selection of local hotels, set up some fun things to do, maybe even set up some kind of Cook Out/BBQ, etc...... For those that have an interest, I'm very near the KY Horse Park, home of the Rolex Games and the 2010 World Horse Championship event. I only mention this because some of you may have an interest. There are also some great roads to take a spirited drive on if interested.

I'll be happy ot help coordinate a stop in St. Louis. I already know of a good hotel that is no stranger to car groups about 8 miles from Gateway International Raceway. It's a Holiday Inn that is the host hotel for the Kit Car Run & Gun as well as many other Gateway events.

I'll keep watching the thread.

Too keep this thread from disappearing, and to mention that depending on what my life status is at the time, I might be able to assist people coming up on I-65 in the Seymour/Columbus IN area. That's definitely where I'd like to join up anyway

Suggestions on hotels - let everyone make their own arrangements.
Similar to the Power Tour, select a meeting place to gather at the end of the day and a time to leave from there the next morning. It will be up to each participant to be there when they leave if they want to be in the caravan. Everyone should have a map or make their own arrangements so if they don't make the departure, they can meet up at the next stop, etc.

Although almost everyone who owns a Fiero will end up 'walking' sooner or later. wouldn' t a better name for the 25th show be 'The Flight of the Pegasus' or ''The Tale of the Pegasus' ??? At any rate, I hope to make it this time from near Philly.

Bump back to the top. BTW, that offer to anyone traveling on I 75 north or I 64 through KY is still open. The Lexington area is preparing to host the World Horse Championships in 2010 so there are lots of hotels/motels being built. Lots of open and reasonable rooms available for anyone traveling through this area.

Honestly this sounds like tons of fun. You make me want to leave the race car at home (and the trailer!) so I can drive the blue car. It would be much more fun that way. Trailering sucks with a line of fieros. I want to play but 10,000# just can't move like that.

Roadrunner,
I agree with you on the trailering but I'm figuring I might just haul one of my cars on my trailer and then will still have room to pick up the one Fiero that breaks down on the road. We all know it's gonna happen to one of us.
With my luck, it'll be my truck that breaks down.

You make a good point. I would like to be able to offer that, but in this case my car is not street legal. However, I can offer a full set of tools and my help to anyone broken down in the convoy. Basically the front of my trailer is a rolling work shop.

As long as I'm not deployed again by the time this rolls around, or not in flight school, I'll be there! Sounds like alot of fun, and man on man, if we can get 400+ Fieros in one palce at one time, it would be OUTSTANDING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The track at Topeka is awsome!!!!!!!! Nascar races held there. Also, there is a smaller drag strip on the other side of town (KCMO) its the Kansas City Int'l Raceway. Anyway, not sure how much I can help out, esp this far in advance, but I'll be there with bells on unless Uncle Sam has other plans (Why the @*^$ did I reenlist??????? OH YAH, so I could afford my v8 swap!!!!!!!) Anyway, hope to be there, and let me know if I can help out some.

I 80 runs past Newton Iowa, 30 miles east of Des Moines. 5 motels within 1/8 mile off of the 164 interchange. Iowa Speedway just opened this last summer, 11 events planned for '07
