I would like to come. If I have the money, and am brave enough to drive over 2000miles one way then I will go. No point in making a caravan stop by me, I think I am the northenmost member on the forum. It is about an 8+ hour drive straight south for me to hit the border.

Got it, all you need to do is let me know how I can assist you. Lodging, and other stuff is easy. Once we get closer to the event, I'm sure there will be others that will be interested in a rest stop. I'm happy to assist however I can. It would be nice to fill up a hotel parking lot with Fieros, then head out in a convoy as a group. If enough folks indicate they will be stopping/staying over, I'll see if I can get a group rate from one of the motels here. I'm pretty sure that's a real posibility if there are very many.

I take it y'all are going up I75 then and not I69. I69 goes right through Flint if you are interested in that route. So If you go up I75 I guess I'll have to join ya at St. Louis. If you go up I69 I can just wait by the road for y'all to pass and can join the convoy that way.

I'm sure there will be several folks coming from the St Louis area and south of there. I'm mainly trying to assist anyone coming up I-75 and east on I-64 that would be traveling through the Lexington, KY area anyway.

Google Maps says that those of us directly south of Indy on I65 (Like me) will be coming up I69...
I'm still waiting to hear on Louisville-Indianapolis peoples, I'm sure more will be coming out of the woodwork as the show gets closer.

I hope someone creates a map showing the main caravan routes as they become known. We in Houston have several paths we could take, so we can adjust depending on where we can meet someone's caravan.
I already pressuered my fiance to go with me on a road trip. I would be there and my car rebuild should have no problem being done by then. Possibly the greatest paint scheme for my car but unfortunately my concept doors are hitting trouble left and right. suits me right for trying new things. I'm coming form northern cali up in chico. Is anyone going from this parts maybe even southern cali? also wondering about the fiero club in san fran? i was thinking of cutting costs and tenting my way up there. but i think my lady will vito that fast.
Here is what I have come up with so far, ignore any numbers in the maps as I just put them in to achieve certain routes and didn't remove them before posting.
THESE ARE JUST IDEAS, AND ARE NOT MEANT TO BE A FINAL SAY IN ANYTHING!!!
The route from west and Texas is through Tulsa, which is a toll road, bypassing the toll road added around 80 miles to the route. Any yellow on the map is major road construction, though most may be done by 2008 don't bet on it, I've been in West New Mexico, and they are not finishing anytime soon. Any more maps needed just ask, Brad

I'm going to make two suggestions for some of us in the Tristate area, one is more for the louisville/southern indiana group, the other might work a little better if people wouldn't mind driving an hour or so out of the way to caravan. The first 2 proposed routes put me a long way out of my way to catch up with any of those caravans. Still, I bet they would work for a lot of people.
1: Very Indiana Friendly. Also works well for those coming from the Louisville, KY area.
2: Better for tristate maybe, for those who don't mind going a bit out of the way to caravan (myself included)
In my case, it's only an hour to drive to Louisville, so I could meet up with a group there if they don't want to drive up I65 (Can't blame anybody for that) Instead we'd all get to play with Fieros around Cincy. Heck, my fiance's parents live in Trenton area (not far from Cincy). We'll be married by then, so it's not like we (my fiance and I) couldn't crash at her parent's the night before and catch up with a caravan in Cincy.

Sign me up, my car should be plenty done. Gives me time to build one of those Fiero Trailers to. Probally gonna need a oil change on the way. :P If I have a trailer I will bring extra oil, filters & belts for a few people. Someone is bound to need a belt on this trip. If it is going through Chicago I will just drive down from Wausau, WI. And hop in.

I'll be coming from St. Louis. Last time the caravan I joined started in Texas and went through Oklahoma City, then to St. Louis, Chicago and then Detroit. I would have picked the Indy route myself, but I think some were joining us in Chicago. They spent the night in St. Louis and I joined them the next day.

Theres a good chance that people in Florida would go straight up I-75. That runs 95% of the way. Then again, Im sure its not the "scenic route" though. Steve
Oh yeah......I've probably drank too much too make sense so if you cant understand me.....bump for the early birds....
let's get the west coast and east coast, and what the hell, the south coast people pumped for this. heres the plan........big Cannonball Run style!! start on you respective coasts, first one to Lenore K. Sullivan Blvd (right under the south leg of the Gateway Arch) wins a trophy.......or a pizza we dont know our budget yet.....then we load everybody up (after some time for sobering we ARE the hometown of Budweiser) and make a big friggin caravan to Detroit (rock city) see it would work!!
party on Wayne.....

hoping to have a Fiero, I am.....

Im sure I'll make it. I missed the 20th and have regretted it ever since
I'll be coming from the FAR EAST coast!
I also missed the 20th and I was totally bummed. I have no idea what route I will take due to the unknown condition of my project, but it will be there.

How about a map of where everyone is located ( perhaps not street address, but at least down to the town level )? That might show us where the best places to all meet along the way are..
Just a thought.

That would do well, until things develop more. So far, it looks like us Texas can meet up with Californians in Oklahoma City. Then we can meet with a buncha more folks in St. Louis.

Should move it a bit east before you head north and come thru indianapolis along the way.. I bet a lot of people will be coming up from the south via 65 thru the center of town..
Too bad we couldnt get several hundred fieros on the speedway track.. that would be a cool photo shoot!

Good idea on where the most people live to plan a route, perhaps using the Google maps thingy, have the people that are planning on using the walk put in a thumbtack where they live, Man if everybody used streets and Trips it would save a step or two for me LOL
quote
I'll be coming from the FAR EAST coast!
Darn, cant plan a trip if I don't have flight information, I can see all the roads where you are and can start the trip for ya
One question, are we planning a dedicated, this is the schedule, we stop here here and her only type of cruise, or are we just stopping wherever we need gas? Do we want everything planned? We have time to do this well if we do it right
I cant find the Google map push pin thing, so can I get a hand there?
quote
So I guess no ones coming from the East coast??
Oh, was the east coast invited to the 25th? Wouldn't that mean putting up with Rumor? LOL
Here is a proposal for the Northwest route, I am once again not sure where everybody lives so the route can change drastically as it goes.

I was trying to go through places where people could join in as the walk grew. Up and through Charlotte seemed to have more people than up through Georgia, but once again these are just ideas.

Can that happen? That would be awesome. Brad

Posting proposed routes is a really great thing but, I'm going to suggest that it may make as much sense to designate specific points for Fiero owners to gather in each specific area, region or state. The routes to Pontiac are pretty obvious. My suggestion is to designate a gathering/meeting place on a specific date and go from there with as many Fieros as possible, as each convoy moves toward Pontiac, other groups could join in. Cell numbers need to be exchanged between groups or group leaders so that it can all be coordinated with groups passing through the next city or gathering point. Obviously, those further away will have to start sooner and those along each route would have to be prepared to join up as each convoy passes through their area. I've done this before for military convoys and aerial hook ups, if done right, it works well and you'll get a bunch of Fieros all meeting up for a few super convoys. Makes quite a statement when a bunch of Fieros all start rolling in from several directions. For it to work, a reverse planning sequence must be worked out. All convoys meeting up at some point and rolling in together. That my friends, would be awesome!

Probably not, because the date appears too close to practices & qualifying for the Allstate 400. They will surely be getting the track & facilities ready for that. But hey, we can ask...
... paced84, would you like to make the contact? (if you're reading this)
. . . . Wow, I just did a search in Archived G/C using "20th caravan" and found a bunch of threads. Something there might be helpful.

After the little cruise I put together, I'm seriously pumped about this one. Hopefully this will be more active as the show gets closer.
The meeting points instead of specific routes sounds like it will work a lot better, I'm all for it! Maybe we should have regional meeting points along the way? Like Louisville or Cincy for the midwest, and so forth?

Count me in for the NW route. I plan on making it a family vacation. Wife in the support vehicle Suburban. The 5 Kids can take turns riding in Dad's Fiero. Maybe Curly and others from California could meet us in Wyoming or Utah? Fiero Convoy

I plan on attending and I know Curly was talking about going...so I would propose Flagstaff Arizona for a meeting point of Cali and 'Zona people. That would be the first lower west side merge.

Might be too far out to start individual threads on it, I'll just keep this one running.
Tristate area (IN, OH, KY) folks, Might be worthwhile to meet up in Cinci or something and head up that way. The Iowa or St. Louis meeting point is almost as far out of the way as it is for me to go straight to MI.

This is the route that most of the Bluegrass Fieros Gourp will be taking except the start point will be in the Lexington area. Anyone traveling up I 75 are very welcome to join up with us, Those traveling either direction on I 64 can also join up with us near Lexington, KY. I don't normally get too excited about these events but I am working hard to ensure I can attend this one. The more we have in convoy, the more attention we bring to our cars and the event.

Interestingly enough I don't see any talk about what day to travel.....
I will be going to the track day on Thursday so I will be traveling on Wednesday. That might be too early for some. I'll be coming from St. Louis. On the other hand, I have a rolling shop for minor breakdowns.

If I may make pointers on local roads: 1. Downtown Detroit is a zoo. Speed limit is 55 but most do 70. Downtown 75 looks like an exit so keep your eyes open. Pass exit 69 Big Beaver Rd (he he) and in a couple miles get in the 2nd left lane to exit on Square Lake Rd. Exit but don't turn on Opdyke, the hotel is straight across.
2. To avoid downtown, you can take I-275 North to I-696 East. Exit at Telegraph North. Take it to Square Lake Rd eastbound. Take the exit to Opdyke Rd and turn right. Turn right on Opdyke and then left into the hotel.
3. For those going camping Take I-275 North to I-696 East. Exit at Telegraph North. Turn left on M-59 Huron / Highland Rd. Turn right onto N Williams Lake Rd. drive just past the road so make a U-turn Turn right onto Gale Rd.
