Thanks for the bumps. All of my time lately has been taken by some serious personal matters, but that's okay at this point because we don't want to detract from the 25th anniversary event next summer. I will be back to 100% on this within a few months.

The editor of Planning Commissioners Journal is just now completing his own coast-to-coast drive of Route 50, and you can check out his blog here. It's pretty good, and has lots of pictures.

I hope the event won't be too affected if gasoline goes to $4 per gallon or more by then. Those who were hoping to drive the full tour might change their minds when that happens. I have already had to get more realistic about my own participation, as much due to time off from work as to the cost. But as the promoter, even if I can only drive the central portion of the country, I expect to fly out to the opening & closing ceremonies.

So anyway, yes, please keep this in mind. Make your plans, start your savings accounts, and spread the word!

I finally made some updates to the website. Click the logo in the sig below. And I sent an email update to everyone who has expressed interest in participating. If you want to be on the list, the best way is to send me a private message giving me your email address, and I'd like to know your real name too. Also, please tell me if your name & email address need to be kept anonymous from the others on the list.

This will be 2 years after the 25th anniversary event. Hopefully that will be enough time to budget and prepare your car for at least a portion of the tour.

A new banner ad is being prepared. When it comes out, I will probably start an "official" thread for this event.

i live about 1/2 mile off of rout 50 right now (hear in parkersburg,WV). i am not sure that i will be here in 2010 though. however if i am still here at the time i would love to see some of the other fiero in person. there is a little park right up the road from me about 2 min away were you all could stop and eat at. if you all get in a bit late at night there are a few hotels around here that are fairly cheap too.

LOL. No, the only other one I came up with from a war movie (sort of) is this one...

Several things have taken up my time. After moving to a new town, my job search has suddenly gotten me interviews & offers, and I finally started a new job on Monday. On top of that, the owner of the house we're renting wants to sell it and realtors have been showing it, so we have to keep it presentable. And we're doing our own house-hunting as well. Then there was Daytona.

So I'm full of excuses.

I haven't forgotten my pledge to send updates. In fact, I sat down and started typing the new one more than once. I hope to get it sent out by the end of the week. My apologies for the delay.

Okay, the email update has now been sent. I also added the contents of the email updates to the blog (see website, linked in the signature logo). In the future, instead of continually sending previous updates to every new person who signs on as a participant, I will simply ask them to read the blog (a.k.a. the "GAS Log").

Yep... participant list and a blog, too. Click the event logo at the top-left of the site for the blog.

I need someone to design a new logo. I never received the original high-res file for the current logo (designed by F-I-E-R-O), so I can't have it put on merchandise.
