If you see me on the side of the road, feel free to stop and help me change the flat. :D
Oh, and bump back to the top.
Ron
I think Frank is leaving Tuesday night or early Wednesday .. I'll be cruising up I-75 through Kentucky Wednesday AM, probably through Lexington by 9 or so.

75 n from 696 has a bunch and it's a mess, that's why I suggest Telegraph. Without traffic jams and no construction, Telegraph is 15 minutes faster. In the construction zone and during rush hour I've sat on 75 for 45 minutes, plus the extra time it takes.

I'm looking at taking exit 35 from I-75 to Telegraph Rd. Is that the right route or should I find one earlier off I75? The other option is to push the detour button on the GPS about that time.

Exit 35 is the correct one. It's a left side exit so be ready for it. There's a bunch of traffic lights, one every mile and usually one just before the mile roads and the occasional ones for busy cross roads. If traffic isn't too bad it shouldn't take too long. Speed limit is 45/50 and you should make the lights going the speed limit unless it's rush hour. Keep your eyes alert around Michigan Ave. Only one major construction zone.
Multiple Lane Closure - Wed 6/25/08, 12 AM to Sat 11/1/08, 12 AM Northbound Telegraph from Warren Avenue to Ann Arbor Trail.
Single Lane Closure - Wed 6/25/08, 12 AM to Sat 11/1/08, 12 AM Southbound Telegraph (US-24) from Ann Arbor Trail to Warren Avenue
Can't vouch for patching crews...

Gokart--Why can't I get this map to come up? Some things won't work in Mozilla so I tried Explorer, but no cigars there either. The site comes up and even the scrolling report on the left, but no map. I've printed your suggestions, but would just like to see our route options from the airport. Thanks!!

I'm on a imac and I'm having problems pulling up the site too. The only thing I could suggest is manually check out the route or do a point to point directions yourself. Sorry.
Okay--that works on 'View Map.' Thanks!! Looks like we'll go 39 N to 696 E, then take 1 N to Pontiac from the airport about 7:30 or 8:00 Wed. night. Anyone know a good place to eat if we want to get something on the way? I was looking at Memphis Smoke in Royal Oak, but the reviews are pretty mixed and inconsistent. Thanks again!! See you all soon!!

39 (Southfield) is surface street for the 2 miles between M-5 (Lodge) and 696. Gets conjested and idiots like to cut in front of you from the left lanes to make the turn. Keep your eyes open for the turn onto 696 or you could turn right on 10 Mile and that will go into 696. The time you're coming should be lighter traffic.
Restaurant? I've had issues with Memphis Smoke the few times I went there. I'm trying to think of other places but none really pull on my memory as being outstanding. Several coney's, Original Pancake House, Oxford House, Duggans are the ones that jump out. There are a lot of good places in R.O. and along Woodward up to Maple (15 Mile).

Our little caravan from Central Ohio is leaving Thur. morning about 9:30. We have look up several routes and from what we can see, it's best to stay off of I-75 in MI altogether.
We looked up, on Map Quest, and they said our little trip will be 219 mile, and about 3 hrs-44min.
Since a lot of our trip in Ohio is on (US)RT. 23, we looked at taking that route up to Ann Arbor, E on MI-14 to I-275/I-96 (for about 25 miles), to I-696 to Telegraph Road. This route, for us, is 220 miles and about 3 hrs-39 min. No question here of which one to take.
Some of you from the South might think about picking up (US)Rt. 23 at Toledo.

Why I see so many trailer queens?? LOL! I see several on I-75 so I hope to catch someone there arriving Thursday. I'll leave Tuesday night to Orlando, then Wednesday from Orlando to hopefully north TN or south KY, and then Thursday from there to Detroit. About 1330+ miles! Wish me luck
Anyone passing through the Lexington, Georgetown, KY area on I 75/I 64 needing accomodations for an over night stay, feel free to contact me via PM or email. I can help you with hotel selection and get you all together in one place. I'd personally recommend Georgetown over Lexington in that there are plenty of hotels and it's just off I 75. I did some checking and was told that in order to get a group rate, I'd need a group. Makes sense but the rates in Georgetown will be competitive with much better access to the interstate than Lexington.

Thats a good route. The turn to M-14 is one lane to the right. Coming back it's one lane on the left to go on 23.
If you have time why don't you go to Hell?
14.4 mi – about 22 mins 1. Head west on 9 Mile Rd/M-36 toward Plaza Dr, Continue to follow M-36, 10.4 mi 2. Turn left at CR-D32, 1.3 mi 3. Turn right at Darwin Rd, 0.5 mi 4. Continue on Patterson Lake Rd, 2.2 mi

For those traveling on I 75 and I 64 through KY, I highly recommend Georgetown over Lexington for overnight accomdations . It's only about 15 miles north of Lexington and still along your route. There is a nice Holiday Inn and an Embassy Suites just off of I 64/I 75 at the Newtown Pike exit that I would recommend. If you're traveling on a tight budget, these may not be the ones you want to stay at.
Holiday Inn Lexington North Address: 1950 Newton Pike, Lexington, KY, toll-free: (866) 270-5110

I would, but then I would meet to many of my friends there, like yourself. Ohhh you ment "Hell, MI". Nice little town.

I'm 1/3 of the way up to Pontiac.. Gas is "cheap" in South Carolina. Flying J in Columbia $3.71 for regular. Best places I've seen for gas is along I-26 all less than $4/gallon. Two stops for gas ~$50 so far. Of course I hit thunder showers about 10 miles from my stopping place for the night. So much for all the cleaning.
Are there any New England Fieros going? I am thinking about going if I do and no one is coming down from New England I will just leave a little earlier so I can meet up with people on the way there.
Myself and Another friend are leaving around 4:00pm from Worcester mass on Wednesday. We are staying in St. Catharines near niagra that night. I have a Red 88 formula and he has a Red 86 GT with a "norm's fiberglass" front clip. If you want to cruise out there with us let me know. My number is 978-500-2072.

OK, as an old country boy, that list is a little confusing. I see where someone earlier in the thread suggested to take the Telegraph exit off of I 75, is that still a good suggestion? Since I got that damn Tom Tom, I pretty well follow it through the Valley of Death without questioning it. Probably gonna get me killed.

End of day 2 in London, KY. I got off the road just before the nasty thunderstorm blew in. High wind, horizontal rain.. Fresh water on the car so when it stopped, I got to wipe the car down, so that it looks clean.

yes, I think it is. I have not looked into alternates - but Telegraph sounds like a fine way to go - since it runs straight up to Pontiac.

We left this afternoon around 2pm. We just rolled in the Holiday Inn Express (Milton, Ontario). We snapped some pictures in the parking lot. Wouldn't you know it, the damn USB card reader is at home :-( We'll pick one up tomorrow.
We'll make the final segment tomorrow, from Milton to Pontiac (via the Sarnia - Port Huron border crossing)
We have 3 other cars that will be joining us (Ottawa and Montreal). They left late, so they'll be rolling in around midnight.
Today I saw the most Fiero's ive ver seen on the road (or anywhere for that matter) in my life!!!
I was coming back from Sarnia on the 402 and i saw a maroon fastback pass me in the opposite direction....couple minutes later a silver bumperpad notchie with side scoops followed by a nice blue fastback...few minutes up the road a immaculate white fastback on a trailer pulled by a big SUV followed by another blue fastback and 2 white notchies one of which looked like an Indy!!!
SOFA guys?? Anybody here??
Man it made me wish i had the weekend off...and money...and a nice fiero to show off...damnit!
I'm glad you folks all FINALLY made it to Pontiac! An hour and a half sitting in traffic had to be horrible. And oh yes, the yellow formula exited the highway because they heard the truckers saying the road was closed ahead. I think their Garman saved them about 2 hours........

We've met one other Fiero to date. Nice yellow Formula from Rhode Island. He ran with us for a couple of miles, then exited (probably for gas)
