Ionstorm666- It sounds decent coming from the hood. I had it in the trunk, but the roar of the engine made it very muddy... The only problem i have is the low end shakes the front pretty good, in return the headlight covers rattle a little when the lights are down. When you put them up it goes away... so I have to figure that one out.. but over all I'm happy with it.
My '88 GT has a Sony usb-input cd player. It works well, and its powerful, but the speakers in the car suck. The usb input makes up for that because I can plug a usb thumbdrive or my phone into it and play music. It also has that nice surround around the radio which looks nice at night.
My '86 SE just has a generic Pioneer cd-player from 2005. I also got xm satellite radio to work with it too, plugged into the back of the radio. It gives crystal clear signal. That makes it pretty good, it makes up for not having a usb port. The car also has speaker seats from a '85 Fiero in it, and I love them.

Xanth, what is that last pictue of? Is that some sort of low profile sub? I have never seen a speaker that looked like that, if it is a speaker at all.

Not a speaker, it's a Aura Bass Shaker - "Bass you can feel". Attach it to the floor and it sends vibrations through the structure.

Yep, i got two of them from partsexpress.com , I plan on installing them on my seatbacks this weekend. They should compliment the tang band sub nicely. Ill have more details on them in my build thread.

Alpine V-Power series MRP-M45 amp to drive the CVR10
Pioneer MP3-CD head unit -- seems popular, it's the same one as already posted
Pioneer 4x10s up front (came w/ the car) Kenwood 3x5s rear (also came w/ car) -- I think these are cooked, but it's hard to tell. One will buzz occasionally, I just haven't spent the time fixing it.
Sound staging suits me very well, it stages very well from the front, I get good stereo separation, and the sub is "thumpy" and fills in the lows well without overpowering everything else.
Funny enough, the DEH-3900MP in the first post is what I use in my Camaro.
