Yes, spectators are welcome. I'll have to check, but I'm pretty sure we can do "ridealongs" - where you go for a ride with an instructor - for spectators. I was at Laguna Seca on Saturday, and they do it there.
That gives me an idea....

Hi, my name is Ken from MFC and we are having collectable 25th ticket being printed up by a sponsor I have paying for all the printing and we will need a final count as soon as you can or at least a rough estimate. Please contact me by E-Mail so we can talk about this. k4shad@comcast.net

That would be great. Would provide for some good photo opportunities as well

Happiness isn't around the corner.... Happiness IS the corner.
If you have never participated in a track day, you should. No experience needed and you don't need a race car to have fun. This is a great deal for the price and you will see what I mean after your first session on the track. In my opinion it's the most fun you can have with your pants on. ------------------ Red 1988 GT 5 speed Poly all around, Koni's & Lowered LQ1 powered

I had such a great time at the last track day. California Kid blowing thru turn one, Purple Rain spinning at the end of turn one on the off camber section and Allen Hamilton blowing by me on the back straight because I was slow as heck. You have to come do this if only once in your life!!!!!

This is going to be a great day. We need to make sure it happens. Although the deadline is a little while off, getting the required number of cars NOW would make everything better. Signing up sooner is better than signing up later.
I will definately have the IMSA there. I'll be putting in an 800 lb.ft clutch to go with the new 14" slicks Time to GO FAST!
When is the deadline to sign up? I probably will not know if I will be able to attend untill the end of this month.
Thursday, July 10 for us to reach the minimum of 36 paid registrations. However, you can sign up the day of the event, assuming we get our minimum beforehand. And we will give *refunds* if either the event does not happen, or if you can't make it and tell us in advance.

I wish I could say I was going to run on the track again, but it doesn't look like it's in the budget this year. I've run my Fiero at Waterford & Heartland Park in the past... and had an absolute blast! Even if I couldn't keep it pointed the right way the entire time!
That being said... I would like to offer some custom made removable graphic "number plates" if anyone is interested. I could easily make them about 24" square and throw some cool "sponsor" logos in there. They'd be printed on a clean-removable fabric media (PhotoTex), and would look way better than our usual "blue tape" numbers
Let me know if you guys are interested... I could run a couple of samples and stick 'em to my car to show you what I've got in mind!
Also... What would it take to get a "press pass" for infield access? I've been shooting a lot of Motorcycle Roadracing lately ~ and would love to get some new Fiero action shots for everyone!
Cool idea! Number 2 and 9 please. I made mine out of contact paper that you use in kitchen for the bottom of drawers and shelves and it did not leave any residue once removed. Will the material your going to use do the same? What colors?

The PhotoText material is rated at "99% Residue Free" - and I'd have no qualms about sticking it to my Fiero, or any of my cars
I'll probably run a sample off and stick it to the car to make sure it's readable & sized correctly (unless someone wants to grab a quick measurement from the top of the lower door trim to the bottom of the "belt line" trim on an aero-bodied car.... my GT is at home since I rode the cycle today).
BTW - Anyone know if Golden Gate Fieros has their own club logo? I requested the MI & 25th logos (but haven't heard back from them yet).

Yeah, we have our own logo. I'll send you a copy when I get a chance.

I've been just swamped at work, but finally snuck in a sample set of numbers yesterday afternoon.
Looking at the photos, I may switch things around a bit so that it would make more sense to have the numberplate go above the midline trim instead of entirely below it... but this gives you a good idea of what I had in mind.
also, my apologies for showing a dirty car with chipping trim paint
The bad news is that the media I'm using is a little more expensive than I remembered... I might have to charge a little to cover my costs on these (I'm thinking maybe $10 for 2 "collector" car number plates ). They currently measure about 10" wide x 12" tall.

ug - well, my car is almost back in one peice - will be done this weekend - should know by monday if I'm good for play day.
but - from the sounds of it - it wont matter.....how disappointing. we need like 30-40, right? this is my only interest in the 25th - is the track days.....sorry - I am not impressed by a shiney car. my daughter can wash a car.....
Sorry to hear the numbers are filtering in for this event...
I would love to participate myself, but I don't feel comfortable putting my car on the track - as it has a bit of an "oil loss" issue (and I respect a clean racing surface too much to risk contaminating it for others).

Hopefully you don't think that "the shiny cars" are the only reason the rest of us go to shows? Honestly, I've got enough metallic shiny plastic awards in a box in my garage to last me a lifetime (granted a ton of them are "hard luck" awards).
I don't attend shows to win awards - I go to see the people... like you, who I look forward to meeting in person!

of course shiney cars are not the only reason. I love to see what people have done with their Fieros. I certainly am not gonna just stay home - especially beings its such a short drive for me
and, it would actually be mighty awesome if there were only 10 of us on the track, and we had it all day - but I'm sure that'll end up costing much more. some of us may even pony up more cash to have such an exclusive play day.
fear not the track. you dont have to beat your car. at the 20th - most did not. drivers are broken into small groups who will be driving roughly the same pace. very few actually "get on it". by the 3rd time out, some people felt more comfortable, and gave it some.

Is there anyone here in the community that owns a business that would be willing to sponsor the event? Maybe MinnGreen could add your company logo to the number plates?

This brings up a good point. I would bet than many people are thinking that this is a race, when it is not. I know it isn't, as I went 5 years ago at the 20th. However, it is not explained very well on the first page. Maybe there should be another thread stating how this is not a competitive event. I know there's already this thread, but for the people that have already looked with interest, and changed their minds because they thought it was a race, they may take a second look. And/or you can update the first post. Just a suggestion...

Adam has a point. Many are not clear about what this event is. Track Day regulars are.
The other thing that needs to hppen if we are to gather 30 cars in 2 weeks is we all need to be beating the drum.... that is calling our friends that may be interested and telling them why it will be the event they talk about for years to come. Every track day is memorable. One with all Fieros.... priceless.
Bring it up in meetings..... send it out in emails.... Make another thread..... Call your friends.....
All is not lost yet. It is a lot of cars, but it can be done. Many may still think that thye can just show up and register the day of the event.
That is what it took for the Wheatstock Track Day in 2004. As some of you may know I had a hand in coordinating that one.
Man I can't believe there haven't been more registrations by now. Things are a little tight these days and I hope to have myself and my son registered in the next week or so. But the son's clutch is starting to act up and we both need helmets for the track. Combine these things with the price of 2 admissions and it's looking kind of iffy. I really want to participate but it's an uphill battle right now.

I am part of the team working on the 25th Anniversary Show. I know that to make this show a go it takes sponsors. Becuase of todays economy it is very hard to find sponsors. I think to help with costs of puting on these events sponsors are needed. This would help with the up front money to put on and run the event until the last minute people get off the fence. People do not under stand what it takes to put on something like this until they do it. I know I am having a real eye openning or education on what it takes to put this show together. We are not GM or 3M companies with deep pockets to put this show on and make it a classy memorial one. We are non-profit clubs. This is not a 50 to 100 car show in a parking lot. This is a four day event. We are trying to make one for the record books. If we all do not band together and put our selfs out there we will have to cancell things. I know that the people that created the Fiero we have have at the banquet will not be around forever and with GM's troubles, the prot-types take money to store and maintain and they could destroy them to save costs. That is why no mater how much it will cost me to go to every event I will go. MY MONEY HAS BEEN SENT IN ALREADY HAS YOURS? Remember "Bring Your Car or Come As You Are To Our Silver Fiero Fest"
I am in the final stage of my build: putting on insurance, and getting the alignment. after that - confidence run. then I will pony up. should be by wednesday.
any chance of posting short clips of the 20th waterford day to entice those on the fence? especially the grins on the faces after the sessions?
