Now if only you had some 88 sway bars to test!

We will have a good time hanging out any way. BTW... waiting for the final word from the testing and if all is good, I'll be ready to make '88 sway bar kits first thing after the 25th show! Sorry I don't have a set for you to run at the event.

Signups = 15, with 2 more possible. However, this is still less than half what we'd need to break even. We are still working on stuff to try to make this happen, so we haven't made a go/no go decision yet. I think we'll call it either way in the next couple of days. Sorry, that's the best I can do for now.

What does this mean? I thought this sentence meant you only needed 15 total signups to have the event? Come on, this was the majority of the reason I signed up for the 25th!

I would have liked to have committed - but I haven't the foggiest what else is planned for that day... I know - I'm a lazy ass for not digging through things.

If you are going to go fot it - then I'll more than likely do the day - but won't be able to buy a ticket until the 23rd. I know that's not what you want to hear - but if you make your minimum then I'd be gravy .... right?

I'm leaving tomorrow AM and will not be online for 2 weeks.
It would be great if we could know if this event is happening later tonight if possible.
Do I shoot for arrival in Pontiac Wed night or Thurs night?

Thanks Bear for going thru all the pain for the event

Thanks for the post details. I did make the track day at the Fiero meet way back in the late '80 orearly '90 - maybe the 10th?. The show was at the Silverdome and we had a great afternoon at the track. It wasn't an all day affair - but a lot of fun nonetheless. Wonder what it would be like now with the V8? hmmmmm.... good....

I still remember the drop around Archer corner - or was that Gulch turn......

Wow!
The turns sure look at lot tighter when you're up close and personal, and approaching them at 70-80 MPH or so.

yes - my favorite curve was the one at the bottom of the drop. with all the weight coming down from the hill - you got crazy downforce, and basicly keep accelerating like it was straight. and, of course - the push down into your seat.

some of these curves are WIDE. I was way to scared for many to actually push it thru some of them. by my third time out, was starting to get bold - but still had a ways to go. like the wide sweeper double, maybe triple apex sweeper which goes by the start/finish line. WWAAYY fast - and then the sudden drop & tight blind curve. I used the tower as my braking point - and that was pretty far back. yes - I'm a bit of a chicken still and - I was braking pretty dang early for "archers corner" as well (end of long straight).

but, my car has much improved - tho the 4-speed manual vs the automatic will keep me WAY busy - with the automatic - basicly just kept the car in 2nd the whole time. tapped it into 3rd at the end of the long straight. added rear sway bar, lowered 1" Eibach, 215 tires now vs the 195's I had. and, hood vent - but - I dont think that will do much - maybe in the long wide sweeper it'll keep the nose down a little better. cant wait till thursday.

Brian Geyer talked to Ken Shadlak (shadman) and Mark Duford, and Ken thinks he can beat the bushes and get some local support by way of car clubs to sign up more people. They want to wait until the end of day Monday to see if we can salvage this. At this point, it's in their hands.

Sorry, Mark, I gave him your number. I thought he talked to you.

Brian called Ken and they went over the numbers. Ken said that he could call a bunch of car clubs and thinks he can get some non-Fiero signups. They want to work on this through Monday. Brian and I would have to fly out, which according to you or Ken, would cost about the same as driving (Priceline quote). I suggested that Brian go alone, to save money. He could use my help, he says, but I told him I'm not mission-critical like he is. That's where we're at.

Brian and I are having a meeting with our club officers about the event and possible additional money this afternoon. Chances are we will figure out a way to pay to fly Brian out there to run the event. I will likely stay home so we don't need to pay my travel costs. We'll see what comes out of the meeting. Also, you and Ken are working to get more signups from local car clubs. We ain't dead yet!

p.s. - The show organizers are meeting in Michigan, and we're waiting until they are done because they're helping us with some stuff. When their meeting is over, they are calling us here in California to work some stuff out.

I gotta say, this is all kinds of hell trying to run an event from 2/3 the way across the country!

Someone needs to make a call.
IF it does not happen, people need to have some time to figure out what they will do. It will change many people's plans.

I thought we'd have this resolved about 3 hours ago, but the Michigan folks are in a meeting that hasn't ended yet. They are talking about rendering some assistance. That's what we're waiting for.

We are going to call this a GO. Brian has his airline ticket, we have most of the money we need, although we still need more signups and any other donations possible.

But it's a GO, period.
