Naw. I've been to the track a dozen times and haven't broken anything. Just follow the rules, listen to the instructors, don't do anything stupid, and have a good time!

I've been sitting on the fence concerning the track day, because I have an '88 Formula (daily driver, not a show car) that I'm thinking of running, but I'm a bit worried about my front wheel bearings. Both were replaced last year with the rediculously expensive aftermarket bearings. I've heard others say they won't last if run hard, and I'm just not the type of guy who can go to a track and not run hard at least part of the time. I don't really want my $100 day changing into a $500+ day due to bearings crapping out. Any guys out there with track time on these bearings? Opinions?
Thanks, John

Thanks to EVERYONE involved for all your efforts to make this event a go! If you've been on the fence or finalizing plans, please at least post your intentions to be there Thurs. morning. If you've never been to a track day, this is the time and place to check it out! It's not only big fun, but a VERY informative chance to improve your driving skills and be a little more prepared for that unforeseen situation. Come on out Thursday morning and learn alot!

Sorry for the delay this evening folks. We were having our final meeting with a very large agenda. The MFC is committed to helping the Golden Gate Fiero Club make this a successful event. We realize that for a number, if not most of you, this event was the prime reason for attending the show, and we wanted to make sure that you all had the best possible experience at the show and it's events.
Folks, Even though the event is a go, we would still like to help the GGFC break even on the event, so please, we still need sign-ups! Please get your $150 paypal'd to goldengatefierospp@pacbell.net. If you have paid the $100.00, and paid the additional $50.00, THANK YOU! If you have not, please get your additional funds in ASAP.
Thank you all for your patience this evening.

It may be already in this thread, but can we come out to watch and photo/video other members on the track? If so, what time on Thursday and is there any entry fee?

I spent my money on a sail panel project or I would be in on it.150 is such a deal. I wish I could be out there. What fun to be on the track with a bunch of Fiero's.
Out here we pay almost twice that and we have to race with beamers,Porsha's and NSXs. Oh and those damned little Miata's.
Somebody better get some great video!

This just in.... we are graciously accepting donations of 5.00 per spectator to defray expenses. Don't let this keep you away. We are going to have a blast. just like the 20th or better....
I think $5 is very reasonable to see Fieros being slung about, it's a beautiful thing We're planning on coming straight to the track when we get in tomorrow, can hardly wait!

Well, the cars are ready and I'm off to bed to get some sleep. Had a moment of panic a few hours ago when my son's 88 coupe gave us a scare. The other day he had his interior apart and dropped his aftermarket gauge pod (coolant temp & voltage) on the garage floor. Didn't think much about it until tonight as we got back from gassing up the temp gauge was buried at 250+ degrees! And the rad fan wasn't coming....oh oh! After some checking we concluded that dropping the gauge must of screwed it up and so we just let the car just sit and run, and run, and run, and run until.........finally....the fan kicked on. WHEW! So we're assuming it's just the gauge out of wack. Hopefully it's ok and the engine will not melt down at the track tomorrow.
Can't wait!!!

Sounds like good idea - No problem - see you guys tomorrow around 1pm.
Thank you Fireo Forum for having me out there, it was a blast. There were some very cool Fieros out there.
My friend with the Celica GT-S, Matt, wanted me to also thank you. He was impressed at the very few break downs for a group of cars that are older and most were pretty modified. He also mentioned that you folks are fine drivers and he was suprised at how few "off road exercusions" occured.

I dont think anyone did this. dang - woulda been a good idea....maybe for the 30th
Actually my son has some in-car video along with some great footage from the "tower". Including Bigfieroman's crash. However, my son lost his software/CD that converts the data from the camera/disc onto a PC. Does anyone know how to get data from a Sony HandyCam minidisc downloaded onto a PC without the Sony software?

Did he try going to the Sony site and downloading the software? Usually they will have upgrades... Bob
Yes, the Sony sight had "updates" for the software availible for free download, but not the "original" software that came with the camera. In order to get the original software, you had to purchase a replacement CD for $35.00. So we did just that. Should have the disc on Wednesday and will hopefully have some vid up shortly after that.

This was the ONLY time... in all of my track days... and autoX experience... That by the end of the day... I did not want to run anymore.
I put 60 HARD miles on my car that day... and even missed the first 2 or 3 sessions due to popping a brake line fitting in the paddock area (thank goodness it wasn't on the track!!)
How long is Waterford? Anyone know? I want to know how many laps 60 miles translates into...
It was amazing... like having your own personal racetrack... with unlimited laps... By the end of the day, my poor little auto tranny was slipping... I beat her up real good
