Hey Archie, nice job as usual. Question: What is the type of oil cooler/trans are you using? The brake upgrade...what is the size of the rotors in back?
I like this thread....keep it alive!

The oil cooler is the same one Oreif was using for a transmission oil cooler on his 6 banger automatic.
The rotors are 11.25" on all 4 corners.

The cooler is a B&M polished street rod cooler. Jegs Part Number 130-70265 Just go to Jegs website and punch in the number. It fits perfectly behind the aftermarket side scoops. If you want the custom mounting bracket, I do have an extra one. Also, I do have the drawings to make your own.

Well I "had" to drive it to and from work for a week. It was terrible, especially last week when I was in my daily driver again. After driving it a week I got so use to having the power of a V-8 that when I went back to the daily driver it felt slower than a Yugo! So far there hasn't been any problem with it except the alternator issue. It was my old one and I think I damaged the regulator when I had some grounding problems with the 3.4L, Not to mention it's a "duralast". I have a brand new AC Delco coming in this week. I'm taking the car to Archie's on Thursday so he can inspect everything and install the alternator (his lift makes it easier to do it.)
The car has been great. A V-8 Fiero can be used as a daily driver without any problems. I've averaged about 22-24mpg for the last 2 tank of gas. The Big Brake kit was proven to work great by an elderly coupe who wasn't paying attention when they pulled out in front of me. Some "less knowledgable" kids thought it was a "mean sounding 4-cyl" that their Eclipse's couldn't keep up with. Most people who see the engine (mainly many at work so far) can't believe I have a V-8 in it. The only thing that I would change would be to quiet up the exhaust "IF" I was going to use it as a daily driver. Right now it's slightly loud for daily driving but I like it.
I was only able to put on 340 miles so far and I plan on storing it this weekend after I get the oil changed so the next update will be in the spring.

Several months ago, I had a big bunch of adapter plates made to mount our Big Brakes onto the '88 Fiero. Our other mounts fit the '84 to '87 Fieros but these are for the '88.
I gotta tell you that this is the easyest brake upgrade that I've ever installed. It takes about 20 minutes per wheel to remove the old stuff and put on the new stuff.
Look at the hand brake setup, It uses the brackets from the Caddie calipers and the levers from the Fiero & looks like it was designed that way.
Here's a couple of pics.
I have enough of these things in stock to build 80 cars so the price will be right.
Do you think I should post up a little build up thread?
Archie
PS, I gotta thank PaulV for letting his Sweet V-8 car be the Model for this system.

I am interested, Archie. The car I would put something like this on will eventually end up under my kit car. I plan to redrill for 5x4.75 so I can use Corvette wheels. Would this setup work for that? Thanks.
Is there an advantage to this over the C4 Corvette upgrade for 88s? I know that uses the OEM 88 calipers with C4 rotors redrilled to 5x100. What hardware is used for your big brake upgrade, Archie?
Edit: Here's the parts list from Archie's website:
Parts List:
Front Caliper Adapter (2) Rear Caliper Adapter (2) Hand brake cable mounts (2) Caliper Adapter Spacers Front (4) Caliper Adapter Spacers Rear (4) 11.25" Vented Rotor (4) Caliper front Left side (1) Caliper front Right side (1) Caliper rear Left side (1) Caliper rear Right side (1) Guide Pins (bolts) (8) For Calipers Brake Shoes (2 sets) Master Cylinder Larger Bore (1) Brake Line Fitting Adapter (4) Banjo (4) Braided Brake Lines (4) Lug Studs (10) Video Instruction Tape
What are the calipers and rotors from?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't that a picture of the air intake of an LS series engine pointing the "wrong" way? And what is that smell? sniff sniff Is that a build-up thread I smell in the oven? ;-)
