EDIT: First and foremost, I apologize in advance to anyone on dial-up. You may want to run away because this thread contains pictures, pictures, and even more pictures.
Well, it's not really just a winter project. I started when I bought the car and (through a series of indecisions, trial by error, divorce and a new girlfriend), it is was nearing completion at one time - but now needs months of work. The good part is it has a new home (garage with enough space to stretch out and work ).
I started here in June 2001 with a 1987 GT (2.8L, sunroof, and nothing special):
This morning at the body shop (thanks to the ttop frame from Skitime):

The pulled the body off of the car, painted everything that was left black, painted the body blue off the car, then put it back together. We went through 6 months (he's had the car since April Fool's Day) of "do this", "do this", "do this", "no, don't do that - do this", "hey can I get this done instead", "can you install this", and finally the big one that got he in trouble with the misses "can you install ttops?" I like it the way that it is - looks great in person and will look better in the pictures once it gets away from the body shop dust. The short answer to your question, they did exactly what I asked for .

Vinny says it will be done tomorrow or Monday - but of course there is another delay... When he does finish with the body, then I can start the Firebird interior over again!!!

I hope you folks don't mind the pictures Sorry about the dusty car in the pictures. It is a dust magnet in the body shop - it'll be clean once it gets out of that environment and into my garage.
I'm supposed to get 7 years of bad luck for breaking a mirror, but my lawyer thinks he can get me 5

Convince my wife of that and I'll give you a dollar - she is not amused with my body shop bill Carlisle Customs and Restorations (Carlisle Auto Body) is absolutely the best - they hung their sign in town 2 years ago and the owner and I have been talking about this job since just about day 1. It took over a year to get everything in one place, and even after an 11th hour change in August (the ttop install), they did everything I asked for as perfect as it could be done. I could not be happier with their work. In fact, I already have an appointment for some additional work on the GT next year (after I save some more $$ without my wife finding out )
