Uh-Oh. Does that picture open another can of worms?

They used a mock-up car for the early publicity shots before the interior was done. Even on some of the color publicity shots you can tell that it does not have the true Indy interior.
No can of worms opened. The car was simply not trimmed out when they needed to get the publicity photos taken.

Time for me to stop dragging Stencils and Stripes through the mud.
I finally exchanged e-mails with the proprietor. He offered me a full refund, including shipping, for sending the decals back. I've decided that the glarestrip lettering is as close to original as I'm going to get, so it'll stay on my car, and I told him that I only expect a refund for the door decals. I'll cut the guy some slack, since this thread shows that even more knowledgeable (certainly more knowledeable than me) Fiero-philes didn't know for sure about which type of door decal was "original" until this thread. Still, if you're a business man claiming to have an authentic reproduction for your customers to buy, I think you should have your story straight on this sort of thing.
Actually - regarding Fiero-philes being sure about what's "original," do we really know for sure at this point? Was anything new found out at the 25th? (Which GRRR!!! I couldn't go to! GRRR!!!)
Earlier in this thread, RWDPLZ posts this about Indy #2:

Another thought: Maybe someone at the 25th can bring a tape measure and a camera and figure out the correct spacing for decal placement?
What happened to Indy #2's engine? Did the car get damaged and needed new decals, which ended up looking different?

I have decals from shop_rat45 and Paul McKibben on hand now. Both are charcoal in color, but when compared to my one original, OEM decal, shop_rat45's lettering is in a slightly narrower font, while Paul McKibben's are dead-on. It would take a very critical eye to spot the difference, but yes, there's a difference.
Also, Paul's backing paper, front and back, is of thicker stock. shop_rat45's top paper layer has some wrinkling - it looks like it would smooth out if the decals were rolled up in the tube they were mailed in, and the wrinkling (probably) wouldn't affect individual letter placement upon application.
All things said, both sets of repro decals are good, it's just that (IMHO) Paul McKibben's are better. Remember - I'm comparing to an OEM decal that (although it's old and has some slight water damage) would probably apply to and look great on my Indy to this day. But, I only have one.
So, I'll be putting Paul's decals on my car.
The only other decals I've seen are the ones from Stencils and Stripes. They were the incorrect, non-joined font, and it took months and months and months and months for me to get a refund after returning them.
So now I've got this other set from shop_rat45. What the heck am I going to do with them - put 'em on my subaru? It's the right color, after all: white. :-p

Does anyone have installed pictures of shop_rat45's decals installed on a car?
This is a picture of the Fierosails decals from their website. They look Black to me.

Hi Tony, I can atest to the fact that the Fierosails decals are the correct color (and font) - I do not have a picture of them on a car for obvious reasons (no Indy), but I do have the decals (ok, yes I am a bit weird - actually my 4.9 car was going to be an Indy clone).

Yes, Paul does have the correct ones. Unfortunately, at the time I was asking, their website DID NOT say they had Dark Grey AND Black (your choice).
If you asked for "Indy Door Decals" they sent you the BLACK decals. They were wondering why so few people ordered the Dark Grey decals.
They have now corrected their website. Black is what you get for $40 - Dark Grey can be had for $45.

I have just dealt with Paul on a decal that was needed and am working on measurements for some others. I must say that he is VERY professional, VERY patient, VERY informative, and his shipping is VERY fast.
Now, as far as the Indy decals go....I can't comment as I have not seen them. But, judging from the quality of the other style decals I received from him I wouldn't hesitate to buy from him again and again.

I've been following this thread, and it seems that for the door decals:
Phonenixgraphix definitely has a "close" but wrong font, not sure if the color is correct.
Paul at fierosails.com has door decals with the exact font, but I believe they are BLACK.
I haven't seen the decals by Shop_rat45 but they are purported to be the correct CHARCOAL color and font.
I bought a set of door decals last July (because I fell into the trap of this thread) to replace my rounded "F" decals (which I Know for a fact are not original). I got them on E-bay from seller, Make-it-sticky (they can be reached at kristopherjune@yahoo.com) and they are dead on perfect when compared to the IMS Indy. The color, font, and spacing is an exact match and they seem to be very good quality. So, IMHO they could be added to the list of proper decal suppliers. Best of all, only $32.00 for the pair!!!
