Life has decided to relocate me from Montreal, Quebec to Calgary, Alberta. And on the way - why not plan it so I can pass by the biggest Fiero show around . Here it goes, my longest road trip to date...and waaaaayyyy to many photos
Total Estimated Time: 43.0 hours 43 minutes Total Estimated Distance: 4167.99 kilometers ~ 2589 Miles
Average gas in Canada – $1.27 CAD /Liter Average gas in US – $3.75 US / Gallon (1$ a liter) Total - 470 liter @ Average US/CAN - 1.135 per liter = $533 total gas. probably more like $600. In total i drove 4700km, including side tracks and test drives.
I originally wanted to post my progress as I go, however, in the moment, I'd chose to live it there and then rather then spend time online
...Since pictures speak better then words, I took A LOT...
Start in Montreal, QC - June, 2008
The "border line" Quebec - Ontario.
On the rainy route to Belleville, to visit FIEROFLYER and grab a part - Thanks Dan
Then a long layover in Lindsay, ON - Where we had a chance to do the local cruise evening.
June 13, 08 - I'm off to Calgary (flight) to set the grounds, and the Fiero got parked for a month
...Fast forward to July 24, 08 --> In preparation for the 25th, After a few projects, the Fiero is getting a safety inspection at Canadian Tire.
Here we go to Pontiac, MI
HWY 401
Around 1:00am that night, The host hotel.
And cleaning it until 5:00am
Show day
A visit from the 90 Prototype, driven by Fred
And the # 001
I had the great honor of receiving 1st place in the Custom II category - Thank you.
Time to do some magic, and pack all this in a Fiero.....
Taaa Daaaaa...LOL
Last car in the lot
A mandatory visit to the birth place
On the road again to visit Darth Fiero in Fort Wayne, IN.
Night stopover @ Piere's (Sorry no pics from the bar)
Next to the shop.......... The Darth @ work
(More details to follow in a separate thread.)
And now...the long way home begins - 2859 Km and counting...
Grab something to eat for the long haul - An American size Sandwich
After 15 minuets, it's still the size of my steering wheel...
Almost @ The windy city...
Night stopover in Madison, WI - a quick night cap (or two) with the local crowd @ "Brats"
Jazzman's local branch
Downtown Madison
On the road - I 94, some odd encounters...
No helmets
Castle Rock
Things are always bigger here...
All this trip I saw only one Fiero, trailered.
Quick snooze, and a power boost for the night driving...into North Dakota.
After dark, driving in the ND prairies...360* darkness...
I witnessed the most amazing lightning storms from miles away, words can't describe this light show, and taking pictures while driving way impossible...
Suddenly I'd hit the border crossing, and went to sleep next to all the trucks.
Portal, ND - Border crossing
Back in...
The province of living skies - Saskatchewan
And out of nowhere, I found myself zooming by the set of a Canadian TV show - Corner Gas
Pretty cool pics.Road trips are always a lot of fun and by the way welcome to Calgary.Looks like you will have to cheer for the flames now.There is a Calgary fiero club website if you are interested...

I rarely post pics of myself, I've seen your Fiero creation as well but never got a chance to chat, maybe next time.

I honestly enjoyed that and thank you. I was the guy with the DGP car at the 25th and you took a picture of me driving the First Fiero built next to yours in your shots. I enjoyed talking with you at the show also. Rick B

Sure thing Rick, it was a pleasure chatting with you, wish I had more time to learn more about your amazing Fiero.
~~~
Went for a short drive today - Here is something I've learned about my new location. Within 10-15min drive I can be out in the open fields...
Or here...
Better off...
(Kinda blurry, I ran out of light waiting for WestJet LOL)
Very nice meeting you at the 25th... I very much enjoyed the beer & cigar in exchange for Taco Bell. It is the people that draw me to the shows, almost as much as the cars.
You have a real eye for cars and photos... those pics made me wish I was anywhere but work. You get down to Texas, look me up... and we'll have another stogie.
Good luck in the new career.
Oh yeah... did you happen to make a thread about any gains from your intake design?
Same here, that was a great ending to a good evening I already have a long lost friend to visit in Texas so there is always a chance
Just moved to a high rise in downtown Calgary, and here the Fiero has got it's own concrete bomb shelter It's costing me $$$ but I feel much better now.
We have a huge show here the coming Sunday, last show of the season. If you haven't heard of it, come join us.
