Well, I finally got my package from the LED supplier today. Unfortunately I'm leaving for 4 days tonight at 9 so I won't have time to complete anything before I leave. I did try out the 30-LED reverse lights and the LED compatible flasher I got and they look like they'll work perfectly.
By the end of next week I should have everthing on the rear wrapped up, ready to start on the front

Flight is delayed an hour so here are a couple pics of the backup light situation I've got:
Off:
On:
Bulbs are from superbrightleds.com, part # 1156-W30. They plug right into the stock sockets, not sure if they'll be bright enought without some help but I'll find out next week when i get home
I also got a 30-LED flexible waterproof strip pre-wired for automotive use, and one of their CF12ANL-01 LED flasher units. The flasher works perfectly with the combo of LED and normal bulbs I have right now and plugs into the factory harness. The only strange thing is it doesn't click like the stock unit so I may need to add a relay before I drive much or I could go nuts haha.
I didn't grab a pic of the flexible strip light (part number WFLS-Y30) but they look like a pretty sweet deal, especially for $14 each. I'll likely use the one I have cut into 4 parts, 2 for front marker lights and 2 for front side turn signals (to match the rears). Later, when I get ready to re-paint the front bumper I have a plan for one 19" strip per side for wrap-around turn signals (think new Mercedes).

I'd definitely like to see some close up pictures of the finished product in day light... and if you could do a parts list (where you bought the stuff and how much) of the tail lights that would be great!
Are the turn signals just the amber LED halo thing? or does the outer most light flash with it? or...

The rims, height, two tone, sticker on windshield, the rear lights, all goes very good together. I want your lights, the best looking lights on a notchie period.

Are they bright enough at night to be properly visible?
I think they're fine at night, however I did notice driving around today that they turn signals on the rear are not really visable during the day. Unless I can find some brighter LEDs I think I'll modify the rear reflectors to incorporate a turn signal there.
Thanks for all the feedback guys!
Paul

Well the verdict is in, the turn signal halos aren't nearly bright enough during the day. I have two yellow versions of the round brake lights so I'll be making new assemblies for the outer ends with turn signal centers and change the halos to red for parking lights.
Also, in response to questions of if I'll make these for others:
1. Unfortunately I don't have the time or resources to put into this at the moment. 2. The amount of rewiring required on the back of the car makes a plug-n-play harness very unlikely. I had to cut off almost all factory sockets, run new wire from the battery area, and do quite a bit of splicing to get everything to work properly.
That being said, this winter I may be able to make up some pre-wired light assemblies (round center light plus halo) for those that want to modify their existing light housings and do the rest of the rewiring on their own. I will tell you however that I would have close to $50 just in materials to make a full set for a notchback (6 assemblies).
If you're seriously interested in a set shoot me a PM and I'll start a list and keep you posted.
Ok, I wasn't going to work on the fronts yet but got wild hair last night and did the first one:
These are using the waterproof flexible strips from superbrightleds.com. I did these a little different than the rears so I'll post some more pics when I do the other side later this week.
hey paul quick question what kinda wheels are they on your fiero and where did you get them i like them a lot
Wheels are 17x7 Voxx Forza. I got them way back in 2002 (wow didn't realize it was that long ago!) from Discount Tire. I don't believe they're available anymore so hopefully I don't bend one!
Also, as promised, detail pics of the front LED markers:
Waterproof 9 LED strip
Wire soldered on and epoxied
Drilled hole for wire to go through
Wired to parking light circuit. Positive goes to brown wire from original marker, negative to chassis ground nearby. Blue wire from original marker is no longer used.
I have not done these like the backs (half parking/half turn signal) since I have another plan for front turn signals. At some point I'll probably switch the rears to this style of light (waterproof=good) but since I won't be driving the car much until next spring I'm not to worried about it at the moment.
Those look great, but my only concern is the intensity of the lights. Those are listed at 1000mcd which is very low compared to a regular bulb. The LEDs I'm using in my taillights are 60,000mcd (10mm dia)on the red/yellow and 130,000 on the backups. Your viewing angle is very good at 180*. I think the only deciding test is going to be a visual during the day, whether or not they can be seen from 40-50 feet away looking right at them. I'm going to be trying something similar over the next few weeks.

The front and rear markers are visible fine during the day. The only ones I'm having problems with are the halos in the rear lights. At this time the front markers are just on with the parking lights and not split like the rears. I have other plans for the front turn signals that will wrap around the sides. If that doesn't work out I'll split the fronts at that time.

From Paul to Paul, outstanding job! Until now, I have never seen an LED light setup that I really liked, but you've just raised the bar, and created something that I'm in love with! Thanks so much for the details; it looks awesome.
ok so i think that looks awesome as hell at night... im not gonna lie though im not diggin the daytime look.. theyre just too small for my tastes.. i was thinking of doing a very similar mod to this one considering my fiero is in storage and i have a lot of spare parts in my garage... does anyone know how to tint the tail light lenses so they look black during the day but still let the light shine through both during the day and at night? ive heard of the nightshade spray paint and idk, i havent used it...
