what route are you taking to get to Lufkin? google maps tells me to go the way we came back on sunday. depending on the route it might be better to me stephen at I-20 & 45, I-20 & 175. i'll be following you so we need to meet up at I-20 and bowen.
I is going to be off the Thursday before so I can be fully rested for the trip to Lupkin. I can roll out whenever needed, just let me know.

I intend to be there but, it may not be possible. I would hate to be able to go and not be able to get a room. I do not want to tie one of her rooms up knowing my plans are iffy. If I am homeless, I will pay for a floor, . I am used to sleeping in a sleeping bag. If a floor is not available, I am sure I will be able to find a cardboard box, . Will there be an award for the newest paint job ? T shirts ?

Sorry Cliff (and everyone else it may disappoint), but there will not be shirts. Between planning the event, making the design, and turn around time at the shirt makers there just isn't time to get them done. Not to mention we are trying to keep event costs down to help with attendance so we didn't want to ask an additional $15 per person for shirts, and we didn't want to end up with tons of left overs if people didn't want all the shirts. However, there will be dash plaques available to commemorate (sp?) the event at a very reasonable price. I don't want to ruin the surprise, but I think you all will love them
I have decided with this event being so close to Halloween we are going to wear costumes on Saturday night- it will be a Fiero Halloween at the Drive In! I am not kidding, start planning your costumes now.
I'm going as a bat... I was thinking a Dyno Dino, but couldn't find a costume to fit me

tom, I just direct mailed you the last notice. Supposedly you have been added, as of today.
I have the banner, Reid the canopy. The hotel has gazeebo's so there would be no need for the canopy... I doubt it will be hot enough to necissitate it for use during the games... but it can't hurt to bring it, if someone wants to haul it. I guess we could hang the banner at the front of the hotel... but it has 'North Texas Fiero Club' bolded on it, and the Ruckus is more than just us.
(nevermind on hanging the banner... the front of the hotel is huge, and has a fountain that would obstruct banner view from most angles)... ((but if someone wants me to bring it, I will)...
I've got an old CFOG banner and the Old, Old club banner somewhere... I REALLY need to unpack my garage.

Does anyone have any spare 88 front springs they could bring? I lowered it to far and I am looking for some that I can use to bring my front end up a little. If anyone else needs parts let me know I have a huge stash up in my attic.

I will check and see what I got. I sold a set a while back but can't remember if I still have another set. I know I do have a set from an 87 Coupe .

It probably won't happen in the next two weeks, but I'm about to replace my stock 88 springs with lowering springs. They are coupe srpings, (ARC and not the ARD as on the GT/Formula) so they will have to be cut to look right on your car.
And I'm going to be out of town next week and don't think I will be back in time for the Ruckus.

I dont care whether they are from a coupe or a GT I will have to test fit them anyways.
Tom, yes I did cut the coils. It has been awhile so I dont recall what I cut off, but it is low. I can barely fit a finger between the tire and fender. You should be able to find pictures of my car in some of the texas event picture threads, if not can snap a picture of the gap and send it to you.
If you want to spend the event swapping springs (or if you are off that Friday we could come over then) I'll trade you the ones from my car (they are cut, but I want some a little bit lower)
9 days guys!

Yeah, Fredericksburg would have been easier from here as it is only 4hrs compared to 8 over to East Texas.

kat & chane... yes, There is a show very near Fredericksburg every spring hosted by AAFO. Last years' Ruckus was in Kerrville, 20 miles from Fredericksburg. We've had Ruckus's in San Angelo and Austin, both closer to you. Fredericksburg was discussed in the post Ike planning thread less than 3 weeks ago, and was scrapped for a lack of interest.
Consensus then decided to move it closer to Houston to be less of a burden to Texas owners who took such a hard hit last month.
Since it was going to be Galveston this year... it did get moved closer to you... why not come on out! The Okies are drving over 500 miles to come... don't let 'em beat you! (I know still a long drive... curse of living in a BIG state!)

8 hours isn't so bad, Galveston is about 6 from here and we were all going to do it. Last year for the Kerrville Ruckus I drove 4 hours to Kerrville, then 3 more to Houston, then an hour to Galveston, then 10 hours up the Louisiana border and back across to Dallas... it was alot of fun! But like Blake said the Round-Up in the spring is always in San Antonio, and it's a lot of fun too. Though I will say, this Ruckus is going to be pretty awesome and well worth a drive

About drag racing... I finally managed to get ahold of someone at the Pine Valley Raceway and they are not going to be open. HOWEVER, there is another 1/4 dragstrip in Rusk (which is about 40 minutes North on Hwy. 69), they are holding a $10 Test and Tune on Sunday from Noon to 5pm. So the plan is after the farewell breakfast in Lufkin all interested parties will head up the road for an afternoon of racing.
I know I'm in, we'll see if I can break my 14.whatever record
Also, the dash plaques are in and look great... you guys better shake some coins out of your piggy banks because you're going to want one.

Ruckus Attendees: We have set a price point of $4 per dash plaque.
I know that sounds like a lot for a piece of aluminum... but I wanted to give you a run down of what that $4/plaque is going to. It will be good FYI for those are curious about the finances of hosting a car show, and might help determine costs if you decide to host one in the future. (that, and I wanted to run the numbers myself... might as well share them! )
There are 50 plaques. Total cost of plaques is $66. (includes shipping) Each plaque comes to $1.32. That leaves us $2.68/plaque to work with.. We were going to have 9 awards... so that only leaves us 41 plaques we can sell. So 41x$2.68 = $110 ( <--- if we can sell them all )
I conservatively estimate cost of wood, paint, supplies, glue, & doo-dads for the awards to be about $3 per award... or $27 total. $110 minus $27 = $83 left for other expenses.
I watched Tom Slick put over $100 for gas in the 'burban for the 4 person scouting trip... which I wanted to re-imburse him most of. No Tom... you cannot convince me otherwise. Then 2 days later, I put 609 miles on the I-30 to go back to Lufkin and run cruise routes and meet with the hotel. That wound up being $84. $80 + $84 = $164 for gas.
SOooo, typing all that to type... That our $83 surplus vanished into a $101 defecit (reckon the gubment will bail me out?)... IF we sell every plaque. The plaques will help defray our show costs... but as you can see, They won't fully cover our expenses.
Previous Ruckus's (Ruckii?), have tried to keep costs low... we want to do that for this show also. But if you decide to pay $5 for your dash plaque... I won't complain either.

.
That answers my question of what we are doing Sunday for what is usually our adventure home.
Just booked my room in Lufkin, and yes, they are getting low, so if you are on the fence, hop off and book! BOOK! Ditto on the room availability ANYWHERE at the last minute. I just spent this past week in Houston with my company helping with the cleanup and all, and this is experience talking.... if you wait till the week or worse, the day you need the room, chances are you will not find it. My company waited till the day of arrival, last monday to find us a room and we ended up in Conroe, a full hour from the yard! Displaced families and out of town workers make up the entire clientel at the motel we stayed at, and judging from the parking lots of other motels in the area, it is the same everywhere!
I wish I could speak for the rest of the SA group, but alas, I cannot. I really dont know if anyone else is planning on going. Times are tuff financially for everyone, especially for those that are in Ikes affected areas. But, I havent missed a Rukus yet, and dont plan on missing thisun!
Thanks to everyones hard work keeping this event alive.
See you all there, plan on leaving early Saturday morning.

I was considering hooking up with Stricker in Houston for the 24 Hours of Lemons on Sunday... but he may be on the road that day, headed back to Kansas.
Poe... you gonna see what 11.xx feels like?
Also, there are a couple of hot Grand Prix's in Lufkin/Naco area. I thought I would invite them to the Rusk session and to the Ruckus. They seem like good car people on clubGP, and always extend a standing invite to the Fiero gang for their shows... figured I would return the favor.

Hey amigo... you need me to pick you up a few gallons of 110?
Also, pop over to clubGP in the Texas section at some point... I am going to let Casper and them know we'll be in the area if they are interested in joining.
