The blackened 547 DUBs arrived today. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Only one problem....I wasn't there to sign for them!
Last week would have been perfect since I was off. I now need to take off from work early enough to sign for them or just wait until I'm off. I think I'll just wait.

BTW, The blackened 547 DUBs arrived last week and boy those suckers look great on #015. I nearly fainted, hehe. The polished lips are blinding! Pics in a few minutes.

How many guys does it take to mount a 345/25/20? One, two, or three guys? Geezs, after seeing them lobe-up the rim, you'd think they'd gang raped my rim.
Backside views and things; HRE 20x12 with stainless steel fastners and fully polished/clear coated inner barrels.
Stainlees steel fasteners and hardware: Notice the nearly unnoticable valve stem caps on front views. After many thieves stealing my caps over the yrs...they now have to look very, very hard for them!
Backside polished/clear coated (I've learned my lesson over the yrs...painted centers/clear coated inners = less elbow work
Notice the amount of weight reduction by the triangular cut-outs on the backside mounting surface.

Test Fit: Even though Vince (HRE) and I went of the specs 1,000xs, we're still not 100% correct until the rim is on the vehical. According to HRE, if you mount them (tire and rim), you own them!

Yeah, the darn rims were too phat for the scale being used so I had to use two metal rods (@ each end) to hold it onto the scale. I'll weigh both the tire and rim later, but here are a few tire/rim weights.
This is a 18x7 3-piece Niche Pultec (non chrome) painted center aluminum rim wrapped by a 225/40/18 Toyo @ 44.5 pounds.
Old fronts prior to change. 18x8.5
23 Pounder: I need to go back and weigh both the tire and rim.

After 5- guys molesting the 547 with enough lube to grease a 800 pound gorilla, I was ready to blow steam!
This is me leaving Big John's w/o the tires being mounted. Didn't I mentined that this was round II? Round I was the first shop the day earlier. It's all good. I got my work car's wheels alighned and I called HRE and they said if I F1 Motorsport can't mount the tires...they will mount them for me free of charge.

Round III: I'm leaving for F1 Motorsports with the 345s; mounted this time I hope!
On last Wednesday I headed out to F1MotorSports in North Hollywood better known as "Wheel paradise" and I was in heaven, hehe. Lots of pics of DUBs on Ferraris, Mercedes, and BMW.

It took me nearly 20-30 minutes for the tires to be mounted, during which I took many pics of items I thought were a good modifications for a choptop Fiero.

Well what's the news?! Did you get a nice Christmas present in the form of mounted tires?
Well...yes. I thought since I was going to North Hollywood were the Celebs hang out, one would think they had some type of unique machine to mount the DUBs.....I guess not. Oh well, but it looks stupid too me. What tha!!!
As one dude stands on the rubber another guy lubes the barrels. These yellow clamps prevent damage to the outer lip.
The black clamp use used to aid in clamping a section of the tire; thus preventing the lip from popping out while the tire is being rotatated. Prior two shops didn't have such a tool.
Once the 345 is on, now comes the hard part; moving the outter rubber towards the outter rim lip. This is difficult due to the R-series barrel design.
The use of high pressure air to "pop" the outer rubber lip towards the outer rim lip....almost there.
They will use the tire separator (a.k.a the Claw) to push the outter tire lip.

A very, very nice rim and was one of my choices some time ago. I'm glad I didn't purchase them now, especially after talking one of the sells persons. Although a 3-piece rim, the section is welded and sealed together making a damage rim very expensive to fit. Granted, I didn't weigh the rim , but I did lift one and they're heavy.
