I'm going to have to look up the details of his nomination. Was it by chance related to the Global Warming craze, er I mean Eugenics craze prior to WW2?
This same weather system (although not as cold here) is supposed to hit the coast this weekend with snow predicted everywhere including the Vancouver area. Damn, it's going to ruin the banana crop.
The snow finally hit here. It's not much, but it's enough to snarl traffic pretty good.

Supposed to get up to 6 inches of snow in Houston tomorrow. Twice in 2 years?!? I guess global climate change is a hoax! ------------------------------------
City bracing for at least 2 inches of snow Preparations under way, and some in Houston area may even see half a foot of the white stuff By ERIC BERGER and PEGGY O’HARE HOUSTON CHRONICLE Dec. 3, 2009, 6:07PM
Amazingly, it seems likely Houston will see snow Friday, the city’s earliest ever white stuff.
Forecasters are still hedging their bets given all of the puzzle pieces that must fall into place for it to snow in Houston, but now say the most likely scenario is 2 to 4 inches of widespread snowfall beginning Friday afternoon.
Most counties in East Texas are included in this winter storm watch/warning. My area will see temps around 25*F Friday night. Last snow was almost 1 year ago. Dec 10-08
... Freeze warning remains in effect from noon Friday to 9 am CST Saturday...
A freeze warning remains in effect from noon Friday to 9 am CST Saturday.
An Arctic air mass is expected to plunge into the region Friday. Temperatures are expected to drop to around freezing over some inland locations as early as early to mid afternoon Friday as snow develops across the area. Coastal locations will see temperatures drop below freezing early evening on Friday.
Temperatures Friday night will bottom out in the 20s across most of southeast Texas... lower 30s along the coast. Temperatures are expected to remain below freezing for 12 to 18 hours for most inland locations... including the Metro Houston suburbs. Temperatures in downtown Houston will remain below freezing for 10 to 14 hours. Along the immediate coast... temperatures are expected to remain below freezing for 3 to 6 hours.
Temperatures will warm above freezing mid morning on Saturday.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A freeze warning means sub-freezing temperatures are imminent or highly likely. These conditions will kill crops and other sensitive vegetation. 1017 PM CST Thu Dec 3 2009
... Winter Storm Warning in effect from 10 am to 8 PM CST Friday...
The National Weather Service in Houston/Galveston has issued a Winter Storm Warning for snow... which is in effect from 10 am to 8 PM CST Friday. The Winter Storm Watch is no longer in effect.
Snow is expected to develop across the area beginning late morning Friday... and become moderate to heavy during the afternoon hours. The snow will persist until early evening before ending. Total snow accumulations of 1 to 3 inches... with isolated totals of 4 inches... are expected across the inland counties and the northern portions of the coastal counties. Toward the immediate coast... the precipitation will begin as rain and not change to snow until late afternoon. As a result... slightly lower accumulations are anticipated there. The precipitation is expected to end across the warning area between 6 and 8 PM. Some roadways... especially on bridges and overpasses are likely to become icy Friday evening as temperatures fall well below freezing.
In addition to the snow... the combination of gusty winds and cold temperatures will result in wind chill readings in the 20s Friday afternoon and evening.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow means winter weather conditions are expected or occurring. Significant amounts of snow are forecast.
Melting and refreezing of water on roadways... especially bridges and overpasses... will create patches of black ice. This type of ice is virtually invisible on the Road surface... and can cause you to lose control of your car.

It's currently snowing and sticking on the pavement - 28* on the back porch. I've only seen it snow one other time here in El Paso in the last 6 years. 2 years ago in Januray we got about 6 inch's and it was gone by 10am. The snow Monday has stayed all week and we are getting more. I left the Great White North to get away from this. Damn Global Warming!

Well we got anywhere from 6 to 9 today here in West Michigan. Wow Texas looks like Michigan! Roads were ice. So took it slow in the Fiero. It has been winterized! Ballast in the front and rear and skinny Cooper snow tires on all four.

No snow here, but It is cold out today into tomorrow.
Last year was the first time in 5 years we had real snow accumulation, reaching a foot in some places. Rain is pretty rare here, but it might snow once or twice a year. Can't remember the last time it really rained though. I kinda miss rain, though I never thought I would.

Been sleeting/rain/snow mix since about 8am--on and off. I lit about 1/2 dozen big brush piles from last summer's logging last night around midnght. Been up all night watching them. Toasty warm.

I lived in Dallas back in '06 and after one of the warmest and dryest summers on record...There was snow on the ground before my home town in Grand Rapids, Michigan -I think it was in November. I was kinda blown away by this as I thought folks in Texas don't really get snow much, if at all. In Houston, I'm pretty suprised and that's a huge feat. Glad you folks took pics as this will something to remember yet I'm sure you don't want it year after year as so many others on here have to put up with it. Yeah, everything shuts down. I had no problem driving it it yet it was the folks around me that I was concerned about. You folks don't have the equipment or road salt to contend with so, find an empty parking lot(shouldn't be too difficult) and have a little fun with it and stay warm-just watch for those pesky light poles that can stop you in your tracks and really ruin your day...Mike

He is in one of his four homes with the heat turned up to 80, looking at his private jet while writing a speach on how we all should ride bicycles to work.

Here is a picture of what we have. It started at 7pm Thursday and stopped late Friday afternoon. Good ole lake effect snow! This is substantial for us this early in the snow year.
