Edited: I have received an email back from the manufacturer. All coins will have it. The quality and durability will be higher as well. If I am going to spend this much time on something I am going to make sure that this is a first-rate coin.

I will buy 5 for sure, I may up my order to 10 if we need the extras to make the 100 This is a brilliant idea! Thanks, RACE. I love geocaching, and can't wait to send these coins around the world.
When you mentioned having it say "Pennocks Fiero Forum Since 1999" around the edge, did you mean the edge of the back of the coin, or the edge of the coin itself (the 3mm thick part)? It would look pretty awesome around the edge.
If I have time I will make a mock up of something for the background. No guarantees though, I'm strapped for time as it is :P

Thanks for the replies. I got called in to work and have traveled across half of the country since my last reply. Sorry for the delay.
Edited to avoid confusion:
I am interested in commissioning a great coin but cost is a factor. The price per coin is already higher than originally anticipated. I don't want that to keep anyone from ordering who wants even a single coin because of money.

Here is the other front side design that I spoke of in the last reply. It is also really good. We are going to stick with the design on page 1 for the front but one is also really good I wanted to share it. Thanks to everybody who has contributed artwork and time for this project.
Edited for clarity. A slightly modified version of this is now the backside of our coin.
Check page 1 for the current status of the project.
Does anyone else think that we should put Hulki's mane on it somewhere? I have seen geocoins that have super tiny writing on the back integrated into the design. I would like to send him a coin when we receive our order. It wouldn't seem right if we don't.

I have received another email from the manufacturer regarding a question about multiple colors for the background on the back of the coin.
quote
...You were quoted for color on both sides so the colors could be unlimited. You could have 10 colors on one side if you wanted to but I would not recommend it.
OMG...I love this design! Are we locked into the first design or can we put it up for a majority vote?

I don't know about putting anyones name on it...what is the purpose? I have no problem helping fund a coin to send him though.

I would be interested in 5, I am sure Amir will want a few too, I will tell him about the thread. As for back design, needs to have the car incorporated for sure. I like both front designs.

I made this mock-up last night for the back of the coin. Let me know any other ideas for it, and I can easily edit it. I can make it into a line drawing as well if we decide to make the Fiero a different color, black and white, or just an outline. I was thinking the box for the tracking number could go beneath the car, above "We Drive Excitement". I also chose the PFF Fiero because we see it every day, and it would also represent our connection to this site. I welcome any and all criticism and suggestions!
PS, I don't have the skills to make it look like a 3-d coin (like the front designs) but if someone else is able to and would like to do so, they may.

I like it, but what about having the Fiero as ONLY a line drawing, no colour. That way we'd have a coloured side and a metal side.
Im with ya. The back would look good, but outline only, and instead of saying 84 85 86 87 88 which I think clutters the top of the coin, just make it say 1984-1988

I could add 1 more to mine, (for 3 total).......and I thnk you may want to PM Synthesis, as he was contemplating 10 total (from 3). That would put us at 100+.
How 'bout this for the back? This has the years on the back, and a place for the #s. I hope the originator of this doesn't mind my altering his version.
And, explain to a noob exactly how this 'tracking' works please.
If you are unfamiliar with geocaching you can read about it here. Your coins will have a unique tracking number. Geocoins are placed into geocaches for others to find and then move to another geocache. Each time a coin is moved it's unique tracking number is entered by the finder at www.geocaching.com A map is then generated to show where it has traveled and each person who finds it has the opportunity to log a comment and post a photo if they choose. Some coins have been around the world.
Nothing says that you have to place your coin into a geocache. That is completely up to you. I have found a couple that were so compelling that I didn't want to part with them but in fairness to others I moved them along so others could enjoy them as I did.
As far as geocaching goes these coins are a big deal. They make an individual geocache more attractive for hobbyists if one is placed inside. People will go to great lengths to find them. These coins will circle the earth and could possibly still be moving after we are all gone.

Well hey, at least now it's in greyscale. Rectangle is for tracking number.
The font for "track at geocaching.com" is definitely up for debate. I wasn't sure what to use, but the Pontiac font looked a little funny that small. The only difference between the last two is the font.
