Current Status Of The Project

Update 10-10-09 Activating your coins. If this is your first geocoin, and you ordered one with a tracking number you will need to activate it to make it trackable. Become a member of www.geocaching.com (It is free). Then click the Trackable Items link on the left side of the homepage and follow the directions. It will ask you for your tracking number and activation code that is included in your order. From there you can customize your coin's information page.

This thread was started last time for those of us who send them out.
https://www.fiero.nl/forum/F.../HTML/075990.html#p9

When you register your coin it will give you a separate tracking number that you can post and not give out the actual tracking number of your coin. Please post that number in the thread so that the rest of us can enter your coin in our watch list to see it's current location.

Update 10-08-09 Your coins are on their way care of the United States Postal Service and in a couple of incidences the Canadian equivalent very shortly. Those of you in the Midwest may see them in your mailboxes as early as tomorrow.

Update 10-01-09 The geocoins are now at my house! -But I'm not, and I won't get home from my trip until Tuesday evening. Sorry, work has to come first. I will package and ship them as soon as I can.

Update 09-30-09 Our coins are scheduled to arrive at my house tomorrow.

Update 09-28-09 The coins are done and UPS has received the billing information. They are awaiting official possession of the package. I will update its progress as I receive new information.

Update 09-08-09 I received word from Kelly at Coins for Anything. The coins have an estimated completion date of 9/26. Look for your coins to be in your mailbox early in October.

Update 08-27-09 If I had to guess I would anticipate our coins to be completed by September 10th. Shipping will probably take about 4 days like last time. After that it is up to me to assemble and ship your orders. All we have to do right now is wait for it to happen.

Update 08-26-09 We have begun production! I have placed our order with Coins for Anything and put down our deposit. Our tracking numbers have been paid for and are processing right now. I should have them later this evening.

Annie at Groundspeak has once again granted us the prefix PF for all of our tracking codes. (Appropriate for a Pontiac Fiero Geocoin). It is a small detail but one that I think is a nice finishing touch.

Update 08-25-09 Our order has been placed. The production ball has begun rolling. I will obtain tracking numbers tomorrow from Groundspeak.

Make sure that the coins you want appear in the list below. Also if your coins are to be personalized make sure that it appears exactly the way you want it to be engraved on the coin. Now is your chance to make modifications.

Update 08-16-09 I have cleaned up this first post to remove outdated information.

The following people have paid for their orders:

87 Pegasus
blakeinspace
CoolBlue87GT
cornersonrails
Danyel
DIY_Stu
DL10
fiero67
Ferosmth
Freshj
GKDINC
greasemonke50613
GTCONVERSION
Hardpact
Huck
IwannaIRM
JenzGT2
JimmyS
litespd
LT188GT
Reality
sadie goad
Sage
tmur115
topcat
tstroud

Update 08-10-09 We have our FINAL Letter of Authorization, (the last one we will ever need ) and are collecting the funds now. Once we receive payment from the last 15 people we will move forward with obtaining tracking numbers and starting production.

This is how you will determin the price of your order.

Total number of BWG coins___________ X $7.23 =___________
+
Total number of BBS coins____________ X $6.88 =___________
+
Shipping and packaging..........................+$4.80 = Final Price of your order

VERY IMPORTANT
When you make your money please include your SCREEN NAME here at the forum as well as your SHIPPING ADDRESS. If you do not do this I will not know who has paid me since I know most of you only by screen name.

My paypal address is expiowaATyahoo.com (Replace AT with @. It is my main email address so I don't want the bots to pick it up and spam me). Thanks you.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sorry but we are no longer accepting new coin requests but don't feel too bad we can do it again whenever we get enough to place an order of 50 coins. The only thing that I ask is that we only do one run at a time to keep it from becoming too complex.

Payment method is Paypal only, and I will not be ordering until everyone has paid. This time there will be no alternate list and no extra coins will be available. (At least not from me ).

Update 05-30-09 I would like to thank Freshj and JimmyS for staying up late with me to finalize the design of the Black/Blue Silver coin (BBS).

I have posted your requests for personalized engraving. If you choose this option they will not be trackable for geocaching purposes. Please take a moment to verify the accuracy of your request in the list below. How it is here is how it will appear on the coin. There is room on the coin for up to 8 characters. A space counts as a character.

Blue White / Gold (BWG) coin request list.

I would like to say thank you again to the core group that made the first project happen. Because of their financial contributions we have a set of dies that are available from now on to produce our Fiero Geocoin. Since we no longer have to pay for new ones each time we re-order it will save us $198 on future orders. The savings will now be passed on to you. We can now use upgraded metals and/or paint colors without changing the cost of the coins very much, or we can stick with the shiny nickel finish that we used last time and produce a lower cost coin.

If you would like your coin to have custom engraving instead of Geocaching Tracking Numbers it is available. That option will still be available at no extra charge. The engraving plate has room for 8 characters. Personalized coins are not trackable for geocaching purposes. With that said if you place it in a geocache as a trade item I would be happy to trade something for it.

I like the black on silver, but will go with what ever is decided. Put me down for 2 of them. I'd also like a one of them to be custom engraved with my forum screen name - Topcat.

Thanks for doing this!

Thanks Race for doing this again.
Of the colors listed I like the Black and Silver best. Or like others have suggested maybe keep the front the same and just change the color on the back.
Whatever color you chose I'm in for 5 more coins.....I would like to have one of them personalized with DL10, the other 4 with tracking #'s.......

As for colors... Silver and black unless you can use silver, black and blue together? Kinda like the colors of Danica Patricks 2007-2008 Indy Car

There is room for 8 characters if you want custom engraving. All engraved numbers will be filled in with black paint like our current coin. Custom engraving will not cost extra if you choose it.

Later tonight I will begin compiling the order list. Post 1 of this thread will be continuously updated with the most current information as the project progresses.

First order of business is to determine what our coin should look like. Until we decide that there is no point in taking requests since the number could change.

I could choose what they will look like myself but I would rather give you all a chance to build the coin of your choice. Come to an agreement about what the coin should look like then we will move forward with quantity requests.

Coin types that we can use are

-Shinny nickel

-Shiny Gold or,

-Black nickel (Pick one all coins will be manufactured the same)

After that choose a color scheme. I can put up a picture of the favorites with color choice then we can decide. The coins in the beginning of this thread were posted to give you ideas. It is not intended to be a menu.

If it was completely up to me the only thing that I would change would be black on the back and a different red or different color completely for the ring around the front. I would probably choose a metallic silver.

Let me know what you would like and we will try to make it happen. This is your project.

That coin would look great in either gold or shiny nickel. I would like to take this order in that direction because it is totally different than the first. It would have a completely different feel. I posted those options hoping that they would gain traction.

Otherwise like I said before we should change the color of the back and the ring on the front. I do not want to ever use the 1st Edition red on the ring again because I think it should be unique to that order. There are other reds available though. I think an all black edition would be cool as well.

I'd also go with the black on nickel theme you mentioned above, or make a batch like the first, using another color offered on the Fiero, with the back and front "ring" being the car color. We've already done red....susequent runs could use other color options that came stock on our cars.

Whatever the color for the second run, I'm in for 3.....one with "SAGE" one with "SGW" and one with the standard tracking numbers. Let us know when to pay.

Cornersonrails, from the first round of coins is sending me a Pantone color deck. That is the same color deck that the manufacturer uses. Once I have it I will be able to almost perfectly match most paint colors that came on the car although the metallic colors are not as available.

Maybe there might be enough where you could do more than one color run.

Fiero's came in red, black, white, blue, gold and yellow.

I still think the blue makes a very sharp looking coin !

I will contact the manufacturer and see if we can make both coins. First coin, a blue and white on gold. Second coin, black and whatever color on shiny nickel with the back color matching the front ring.

Again I am not officially taking orders yet. Lets see if we can have both. IF we can then you can order your choice of colors with your choice of engraving.

I will get back to you as soon as I hear back from them.

Maybe there might be enough where you could do more than one color run.

Fiero's came in red, black, white, blue, gold and yellow.

I still think the blue makes a very sharp looking coin !

i'm with ya on the blue !!!!!

Lets make two different coins this time. To make this work you are going to have to be very specific and I will make two seperate lists. We still need a total of 100 coins to make this work without incurring the extra $0.50/coin fee.

A very sharp looking coin !

This coin will look awesome. And we are going to produce it.

We will produce a coin like our last one as well on this order. You all need to decide what color you would like on the back and on the ring.

As of right now I will begin taking orders for the blue/white on gold coin only. Let me know by pm if you want trackable or personalized.

After the colors for the black/ x on shiny nickel have been set we will start taking orders for that.

I don't really care for the gold, but I think I would like the shiny or black nickel with the black/gray maybe a nice dark blue for the ring or other color to compliment it.
