05-28-09 We are going to produce two coins on this order. First a blue and white on gold. The second coin will be black on shiny silver with a color that has not been determined yet on the back and ring on the front.
As of right now I will begin taking orders for the blue/white on gold coin only. Let me know by pm if you want trackable or personalized.
Pm being sent. I want one of the blue and will take one of the other as soon as you request it. John

This shows how dark the coin could go. I am not really that fond of a dark gray. It is not black enough for my taste. Right now we are going to focus on a shiny nickel coin instead.
Post 1, Page 1 has been updated with the most current information. You will be able to find the most current project status there as the project progresses so that you will not have to read each post through out the thread.
Please PM your requests for Blue/White on gold coins to me. Once we nail down the colors for the Black / X on shiny silver coin we will start taking orders for that.

These are the upgraded paint colors that are available. I don't really like not being able to see these colors in person. You can't really tell what they are going to look like on a coin but I am willing to take a chance.
Paint from these panels costs $0.20 per coin more. They call it transparent rather than metallic.
I have a Pantone color deck coming courtesy of Cornersonrails. With that I will be able to carefully choose what goes on the coin. I will also be able to match car colors very closely if I have a car available for comparison.
Too bad the deck will not include the colors shown above. They are supposed to be really good but I can't verify that without seeing them in front of me.
I like the idea of doing a car color series where the back of the coin would match the factory car colors. Along with that there have been some suggestions that we don't change the front of the coin and have it be like it was on the last run. If we do that I would like to choose a transparent red for the ring instead. The ring could match the back but it doesn't have to.
This is what the front and back looked like in red during the first run. They turned out really nice. In person they have a quality that can not be captured by a camera. Judging by what I have seen with it in my hand the BWG coin will be incredible. (I am sure that Safastro won't mind me using his photo).
For now a black nickel coin is out. The black is not black enough for my liking.
Finding something that everyone can agree on is the hardest part of this project. Once that is done the rest is easy.

I would absolutely be in for another red coin run, as all my Fieros have been red. Transparent red is fine with me as long as it's close to Fiero Red
Looking through the requests there seems to be a lot of people who like black, blue, and silver. Is there a version of the coin with all 3 that everyone could agree on?
Could somebody do a photoshop for us of a shiny nickel coin that is Fiero blue on the front with a silver ring, and black on the back? Also one with the blue and silver reversed? I am not at my home computer so changing colors is very difficult for me from here. If you have time and want to offer some of your own color schemes using those colors that would be great. Maybe see what the checkers in the flag look like with different colors?

How about just an Antique Brass coin?
I don't think that fits the image of the car. If you could photoshop something that makes enough people fall over wanting one we could do it though.
If we did a black nickel coin this is as black as the metal gets. I don't think that it is dark enough.
I am open to anything. The color choices are not set in stone. If you come up with anything that is universally accepted we will run with it. Sell your idea. Thanks,
Kenton

Thanks Freshj, I finally was able to access my tiff files and make some changes.
This coin has a combination of the three most requested colors. Black on the back, black around the ring, with a blue center and black checkers on shiny nickel.
This will be a very striking coin. Silver as an accent color would look good but I don't think that it has enough contrast with shinny nickel to stand alone. There should still be enough silver in the coin's metal surface to satisfy the silver lovers.
Welcome everyone to the Black/Blue Silver coin! (BBS) and a thank you to Freshj and JummyS for staying up late and helping sort out the colors with me tonight.
Also look closely at the original coins from the first order and you will notice that it says www.fiero.nl across the top and Track at www.Geocaching.com across the bottom inside of the ring. We will be using the same dies to create our coin.

Your drawings are better than mine . It's hard to imagine the silver on the coin. I still like the black ring better, but either way I like the overall idea, and would go with either.

That is because I have access to the original tiff files. I like this coin too. The silver people will like the back as well as those who wanted a black coin due to the contrasting black on shiny silver colors. I think the blue crew will love the front too. It says winner to me.
Lets start taking the BBS coin orders.

Since I'd still like a Red first run coin, if anyone has multiples of the first run and would like a second run coin, I'd gladly pay for it in trade for a red first run.

You had better pm Pyrthian and lock in your request with him then.
Btw, I am sure that you will not be the last person who will want to change their request and that is absolutely OK up until the time when we start paying for the coins. This project belongs to you all and you should get what you want.
This new color scheme is so good that I am not sure that we even need the BWG coin. We are going to do it anyway. This may be the only gold coin that we ever do so I am not going to miss my chance.
Go ahead and post your coin requests here. We will use pm's for corrections if the need arises.
I have gone through and removed unused pictures and outdated information from previous posts so that people with dial-up can load this page more quickly.
Post 1 on Page 1 has been updated
I will not be online much tomorrow after about11:30 am. When I get a chance I will update the status page again. It may not happen until Sunday but it will get done.

I'll take 5 of the BBS coins.....1 with DL10......4 with tracking #'s. Have you thought about paying to get a custom icon on the tracking page instead of the generic penny sign ?? since we don't have to pay for the die charges on this run the cost of the icon would keep the cost of the coins about the same as last time.

I looked into a custom icon but it cost about as much as the dies. If I remember correctly it was somewhere around $250. To me it seemed like a way for the Groundspeak people to pad their pockets just a little more and that's OK, but I did not see the value in charging our members for something that only exists in cyberspace at a website that many people will never visit. I can't say what people will do with their geoccoins once they get them I would bet that good number of the people buying never intend to goecache.
I realize that money is tight for most people right now, some more than others. It has been my goal since the geocoin idea was conceived to create these coins at the lowest price possible so that any PFF Member who wants one can afford to own one. That is also one of the reasons that I am doing this on a volunteer basis. Btw, this will be the last run of coins for a while so make sure that you get the coins that you want now. We will do it again eventually, but I travel for a living and it has taken a lot of my family time when I am home to organize this project.
If there is any money left over after paying for the coins, tracking numbers, Paypal fees, padded envelopes (which btw, turned out to be $0.80 per letter that I hadn't figured in properly the first time, but it's cool anyway), and shipping it will go to Cliff again to help keep the forum on-line.
Sent you a pm, but to make it "official" and easier for you to keep track of, here are my requests:
You already have me down for one of the BWG coins with standard tracking numbers and as stated in the pm sent, I'm also in for two of the BBS one with SAGE and one with SGW.
Will we be able to ad more coins to this order if we get them in before payment is finalized?
Thanks & HAGO!

I am posting from an iPod right now but I will update the list when I get to a proper computer.
Feel free to change your order until it's time to pay. 100 coins is the point where we will begin to collect the money. If it stalls out at less than 100 but more than 50 we will set a deadline. I could quote prices right now but they will change depending upon how many coins we need so I won't. Pricing should be in the neighborhood of what was posted on Page 1, Post 1.
We are only 3 coins away from the minumum order of 50. At 100 coins we will get them for 0.50 less per coin so I would like to keep things rolling for a while. I need to send out some pm's later as well.
